1. Yeah, we need to find a way to recycle them for a practial purpose, I have 7 of them laying around here and only 3 of them are less than 5 years old. We ought to be able to come up with something. anybody have any ideas????
2. Info has been posted for Tail of the Dragon/Vogel VI in the Venturerider Regional Meets and Rallys Forum. There is still a little info that needs to be finalized and it and the registration form will be posted there as soon as I have them finalized. I am looking to have Shanes Rib Shack cater the meal again, if anyone has any other suggestions about the catered meal just let me know and we can start a poll on it and see what everyone wants. I think the registration fee will go up slightly as the cost of everything has gone up a little also, but will do my best to keep it as close to what it was last year as I can, but we do want to make some money for the "Kids" at St. Jude. Also if anyone wants to donate something to put in the raffle or use as a door prize it would be greatly appreciated. I am still working on getting some nice prizes for the raffle. Also you will find info on lodging in Blairsville and at Vogel State Park.
3. If this is a walk in the park, I would rather try and run a marathon, I have had quite a few surgeries and none left me hurting so bad as this one............I know it will get better, but let me tell you, this FRIGGIN HURTS..:starz:..........and the pain meds dont do much to releive the pain.
4. After 3 weeks of pain and discomfort, finally heading out to the surgery center to have my knee scoped, and get it over with. This came on suddenlly and it was a royal pain in my butt as well as my knee. Hopefully its only the meniscus as the MRI showed. 3 more weeks after this and I should be able to go back to work and resume riding. This would have to happen just as the good riding weather gets here.
5. Yes Dan, she is one of the beautiful, that God chooses to join him and she looked to be multi talented musician. With the world today, she is definitely in a better place. Our thoughts are with all the family at this time. Lewis
6. Sorry for your loss, our prayers go out to your family at this difficult time.
7. Still got the V Star 1300 for sale..................
8. I sure hope you and Konnie are going to be able to attend, I know your still new at your present job, but it just wont be Vogel without you and Konnie there. Could use some help in leading some rides if you do come.
9. I also resigned after reading his rants, so I posted my opinion, never mentioned this or any other site by name and he said I was spamming and advertising on his page......... My post: Lewis Cramer I dont think of it as spamming as much as trying to help a fellow biker. No one gets a commission or free membership for getting people to join, most join because they feel its a good value for all the great info. With that I am out of here also. Didnt come here much anyway. 31 minutes ago Her is his reply: Sonny Rattan Why is it so hard for people to understand that I am trying to keep the page free of ANY ads for ANY sites? First one site wants to put ads up, then the other site, then another site. Next we have Honda advertising it's bikes, then maybe some cell phone companies. I do not remove links to articles on any sites, paid or not. What I DO remove, is posts, where the principle content is recruitment of members. Why is it that the owner of the site clearly understands, but some of you can't? I don't think I can be any clearer. And for the record, no one needs to announce they are going, just go if you feel like it.
10. Prayers going up for your neice and your entire family during this difficult time.
11. 2 people confirmed dead, over 100 injured by 2 bomb blast on the Boston Marathon route at the finish line and another 1 block away, a third bomb went of at the JFK Library. Another bomb found before it detonated. Prayers for all involved. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/live-updates-explosion-near-boston-marathon-finish-line-192213861.html
12. Ok you said and I qoute "44 mpg on my '05 Chev Silverado." I find that kinda hard to believe.................
13. I will put that option out there and see if we can get a group up for that. I truly had the most fun last time on that trip. I would like to do it again also, but not sure yet if we can commit to it for sure.
14. Eck, he is not as big as he was last time you saw him, he has lost quite a bit of weight, something a lot of us could stand to do.
15. Now that I have your attention, a few changes are going to happen with Vogel this year. Instead of having the catered meal on Saturday, we will be having the catered meal on Fri. Aug. 16 at shelter #3. This will also change the day that we ride the Cherohola Trace and the Tail of the Dragon to Thursday, which is good as its a weekday and wont be as crowded as a Fri or Sat. This will make Sat a day you can choose to do as you please or different rides can be organized, maybe even a ride to Dillard, Ga to eat at the Dillard House, and if you havent been to the Dillard House to eat you are in for a treat. In fact that is what will be the planned ride.............Dillard House on Saturday Aug. 17. So mark you calendars there are changes from previous years. If all goes well, might do future Vogel's the same way. As far as someplace to stay, Vogel State Park still has cabins and camping spots available. http://www.gastateparks.org/Vogel
16. Well hope you ride is a good one and that you are able to keep that nice bike you re-did. If not you could always go the trike route like we did. I said never, but you know what they say, "Never Say Never".
17. Well it looks like Wingman aka Jamie is going to be the owner of my prized 83 Venture, Its a sad time for me but I know its going to be taken care of just as well as if it was mine. Jamie is a very good friend and I know it will have a good home with him and its still in the VR family. I know it will receive the same loving care that I gave it and I can still ride it if I want too. I know I will be the main mechanic of it since I know that bike so well, I dont know if I could complete the sale if it was to a total stranger. It will be strange going out to the garage and not seeing it sitting there, but I dont need 3 bikes and the trike is the bike I elect to ride now. Now to find a good home for the V Star 1300.
18. Really not collector value unless its show room and ultra low mileage, other than that sounds like a nice rider. I wouldnt pay more than $1800-2000.00 for it. Its still a 30 yr old bike and whether its been riden or been sitting the plastic is still 30 years old and brittle, dont ask me how I know..............
19. I have had a few high end guns and they didnt impress me. I had a Model 19 S&W with a 4 1/2 inch barrel, it was a good gun and fairly accurate for what it was, so I traded up to a Colt Commander in 38 Super, very nice gun, it jammed a couple of times right after I bought it but it was big and heavy, not very good for cc. The gun I lost to the Cherokee County Sheriffs office was a Jennings arms 9MM in stainless, 14 round clip, a fairly good gun, never had any problems with it, it was slightly smaller than the colt and I really liked it. It shot well and never jammed on me, wish I still had that one, it wasnt expensive about $70.00 more than what I paid for the Hi Point. I am looking forward to receiving it and shooting it. I have a couple of 380's I bought for the wife and I but I would rather have something with more punch if I need it, hopefully I wont.
20. Well almost anyway, after a lot of research and searching I finally ordered my replacement 9mm pistol to replace the one that I lost to the Cherokee County sheriffs office in 2004. I had a hard time finding one locally new or used, so after many hours of searching and checking a ton of websites I found one. Its a Hi Point 9mm Compact. Ordered it from Impact Guns, the price was right and its already on its way to a local shop here. Once it is here all I have to do is go and fill out the background check and wait. I got the last one they had available. I wanted to order the one that came with a carrying case and knife but they were out of those so I ordered the gun. Cant wait to get it to the firing range to try it out, I read a lot of reviews on it some not so flattering, but many more that were very high on it and some that thought it was a decent gun for the price. Next thing to do is go and apply for my concealed carry permit. I have put it off long enough. I still have a couple of small concealable guns but they are both in 380 and that round is more expensive than the 9mm. Once I put a few rounds through it I will let you know how satisfied I am with it.
21. We share a commonality, strangely enough my bike was born at aprox the same time. Like you said, its a great ride and led me to the greatest group of people on the net, if not on this earth. Not as many miles, but lots of smiles. :big-grin-emoticon: Hope to see you at Vogel this year. Its been way too long since we have ridden together.
22. Found this on my facebook page and just had to pass it on here. SON: "Daddy, may I ask you a question?" DAD: "Yeah sure, what is it?" SON: "Daddy, how much do you make an hour?" DAD: "That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?" SON: "I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?" DAD: "If you must know, I make $100 an hour." SON: "Oh! (With his head down). SON: "Daddy, may I please borrow $50?" The father was furious. DAD: "If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior." The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money? After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $ 50 and he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door. DAD: "Are you asleep, son?" SON: "No daddy, I'm awake". DAD: "I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier. It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $50 you asked for." The little boy sat straight up, smiling. SON: "Oh, thank you daddy!" Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father. DAD: "Why do you want more money if you already have some?" SON: "Because I didn't have enough, but now I do. "Daddy, I have $100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you." The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness. It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $100 worth of your time with someone you love? If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family and friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family. Some things are more important.
23. Thats an imposter, being a Texan, I dont think Freebird would be caught dead in a suit.............I know there's no tie but still, thats an imposter. That guys much more distingushed than our Freebird!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl:
24. Its hard letting them go............sounds like everyone got to say their goodbyes. Soon he will be with your mom in a much better place. Our prayers go out to you and your family.
25. Well we can disagree, but they should have all been in one lane, riding staggered, and not holding up traffic. The lady was an idiot, but the bikers were inconsiderate. I also watched some of their other videos, and they rode like idiots in some of them and did stupid stunts on the open highway. Didnt see any of that in this vid, but I cant respect stupid.l
