  1. I would say it was abuse, I was stopped for no reason what so ever in Cherokee County, NC about 12 years ago, not by 1 but 3 Sheriff's Deputy's. I wasnt speeding or driving recklessly but I believe they profiled me, I had passed through there 3 nites in a row around the same time and I believe they thought I was trafficing in drugs, or maybe had something to do with the bomber they caught 2 weeks later in Murphy. Anyway they gave me some cock and bull stories about license plate, registration, and finally made me get out of my van, I was a courier at that time making deliveries, as I got out I saw that my 9mm was in the door pocket, It had been there so long I had forgot about it. As I started walking back to the police car I told them there was a handgun in the vehicle, immediately I was slammed on the hood of the car and patted down. They wanted to know why I had a gun, you know the drill. They searched my van inside out with a drug dog, inspected the tires, gas tank, under the hood, behind the paneling looking for something that wasnt there. So they get me on carrying a concealed weapon. Went to court, spoke to the ADA and they droped the charges if I gave up my gun. There it is.
  2. I will use this post as evidence when they come this week to check out the house, I spoke to them today and they are going to choose 1 house out of 4 or five that have followed up on the flyer.........
  3. Been waiting on a Hi Point 45 pistol to arrive, so while I was out to day I gave the local gunshop a call and asked if they had received any, no, but he had a used one that had been bought by a customer for his wife, she didnt like it, so he traded it on something else, of course he didn't give him full credit on it since it had been fired, so I got it cheaper that what I got my 9mm for by about $40.00, and he threw in a gun case for it since he didnt have the box. Timing is everything, now to make a trip to Wallworld and see if they have some ammo, I found they have the cheapest prices around if they have any in stock. I will let you know my feelings on this one as soon as I break it in. One thing, its big and heavy and damn thats a big opening in that barrel, glad I am on the opposite end of it, would not want to be on the receiving end of it.
  4. Yes, most of the body parts are interchangable except for the bags and top box..
  5. That Chevy Luv needs lots of LOVE...................Good luck.:bighug:
  6. I too would like to thank Don and Patti for all they do. I would also like to thank everyone who attended and donated and in any way helped raise money for the Kids at St. Jude. Charlene and I weren't able to make it up this year due to some fairly serious medical problems that keep popping up for the both of us. I had every intention of showing up on our new to us trike, but not only could we not make it that way, driving in a cage would have been just as bad. But this post is all about Don and Patti and everything they do for the kids. Don and Patti have been supporting me and St. Jude big time since they first started coming to Vogel back in the beginning. Once they visited The Ronald McDonald house they were touched so much, they just cant do enough for the kids. Ever since he has been doing his annual M&E he has been giving me money to add to our donations, and every year he and Patti do an amazing job of making their donation bigger and bigger. So I hope everyone will stand with me in saying. THANK YOU DON AND PATTI, YOU ARE OUTSTANDING PEOPLE, AND ITS MY GREAT HONOR TO BE YOUR FRIENDS.
  7. Even though that show is filmed almost entirely in my county I have only watched it one time. I guess I will have to start watching it. Cant wait to talk to the location manager, should be talking to him today, got an emali back from him and he is interested. I was surprised, when I saw them put the flier on my mailbox, I just let it sit there and didnt get it till the next day, the wife said no, I dont want strangers in my house, but our daughter convinced her it would be pretty cool.
  8. Found several tranny's that would work, you want an 86 to 93. Go to the following link. You have to split the cases after you pull the engine. Not to hard, just need help pulling and putting the engine back in. Many like myself have done it before. As for skipping second gear, that will work, but it will still eventually go out on you, that's a little hard on the tranny, and second gear is soooo much fun to use on these machines. Good luck. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Motorcycle-Parts-/10063/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=venture+transmission&_nkwusc=ventuure+transmisson&_rdc=1
  9. It looks like they are going to be shooting scenes in my neighborhood mid June and they are looking for a 2 story house to shoot some interior and exterior scenes, I am going to be talking to the production manager in regards to using our home for this. Who knows, might ever get a chance to be an extra if I play my cards right........I think it would be pretty cool to have this happen. Stay tuned.
  10. Its starting to show signs of the infamous 2 gear problem that is very common among 83-85 first gens. They all go through it, they didnt correct it till mid 85. There is a fix and both involve pulling the engine and splitting the cases to either replace the split washer that is causing the problem or if you can come up with a tranny from an 86 to 93, it will drop right in, thats what I did with my 83, put an 86 transmison in it. There is a write up in the 1st gen tech section. I have posted the link to it below. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=508
  11. I have a very special auction just posted in the St. Jude Auctions. Its a very special 1st Gen. It wont last long.......... http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4650&title=1st-genventure-polo-shirt&cat=15
  12. Welcome to the site, your on the right track posting pics of your ride. very nice, I have the same color but a 93, with a motortrike kit. Enjoy, this place is addicting, just ask everyone.
  13. I have an idea that was sorta given to me by Eck. I know a lot of us have some spare or old parts hanging around from our bikes that we may never use again, and I think we can put them to a good use for the Kids at St. Jude if you want to get rid of them without the cost of shipping them around the country. My idea is for everyone to bring any parts that they can carry with them to Vogel. On Friday before and after the meal we will have a table set up with all the parts. If you see a part you want or need all you need to do is leave a donation for each part you want and the part is yours. No min. donation is required but what you can afford or want to donate, but remember all this money goes to the Kids at St. Jude. You can clean out your shop of some unwanted or no longer needed parts and help the kids at the same time. I know I have a couple of parts, but I know some of you out there have more parts than what you will ever use. So why not help the Kids.
  14. Mark your calendar for Aug 14-18 for Vogel, you will meet many more members there and see some of the same faces you saw at B2's. Its a great time and not such a long ride for you to get there.
  15. Very nice Dick, new trike, new truck, and now a new trailer. Things must be good. Wish I had a trailer like that for my trike.
  16. Cant wait to see everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. I have posted 5 new auctions for St. Jude Children's Hospital. In this auction you will be bidding on a Cruisin" for St. Jude T-shirt and Pin. Bid often bid high, remember, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE KIDS" " :mo money::mo money:
  18. Well I guess its time to start talking up Tail of the Dragon VI @ Vogel, havent been getting to much response on any of the other posts relating to it, so I am going to post a poll with this post to see if I can get a handle on how many are coming, cause I need to know how much food to order, shirts to order and patches...............its just 90 days away.
  19. If it works that good, how come someone hasnt come up with it sooner..........it would be a great tool for us 1st gen owners...........I could have fixed a lot of broken plastic a lot quicker with better results.
  20. Buy plenty of raffle tickets and you just might win all of them.................:mo money:
  21. I am now taking registrations for Tail of the Dragon VI @ Vogel. I have attached a downloadable file to the bottom of the info page. Go to the link below and it will take you to that page or click on the banner that rotates at the top of the page. Look forward to seeing everyone at Vogel. Remember "Its all about the Kids" at St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
  22. Sure hope to see you there my friend, it wouldnt be Vogel without you.
  23. So far I have a few prizes for the raffle. There may be more added later. 1. 7 inch Table w/Google Android 8 GB w/carrying case 2. 4 GB MP3/Video Player 3. Emerson Go Action Cam 720p HD Digital Video Camera 4. Morgan Carb Tune Pro. 5. Kuryakyn GranTailgater Bag , used but good as new. I will be putting the raffle tickets up for sale as soon as I have them printed.
  24. That happens occasionally on the 1st Gens, its not for oil pressure but for oil level. Just check your oil level, or it could be your sensor is going bad, which is what happend to mine, I changed it when I changed my transmission and that fixed it for me.
  25. That is exactly what my 83 did and I did a tranny swap on my 83 with one from an 86, just replaced everything from one to the other. There is a writeup in the tech section on pulling the engine that makes it fairly straight forward. I did it, so just about anyone can do it. You will need to replace all the gaskets because you have to split the cases to get to the tranny, you may need to straighten or replace the shift forks, all I did was a tranny swap and now my 83 runs like new. Here is the link to doing the 2nd gear repair. Good luck. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=508
