Awesome job on the makeover, I know how you feel. After I finally finished redoing my 83 twice, once for repaint and the other for the tranny, it was an awesome feeling, she drove like she was brand new and I was kinda unsteady, after all I had been riding my V Star for all that time and the handling is nowhere near the same. Enjoy and be safe. Looking forward to seeing it in person some day.

Yeah, its the only thing I have left in my stable, switched to a trike so the wife could ride more ofter, she wasnt comfortable on 2 wheels..............
-
Bill, my 1300 is almost gone to, it will be going to a new home in Canada next week. The 83 is in its new stable, all I am left with is my 93 trike. On another note I sure hope you and Linda can at least cage it down to Vogel. Really miss seeing my old buddy. Come on down and we can rock the evenings away telling not so tall tales.................

If all you want to do is come for the ride and not partake of the Fri luncheon, or get a shirt and patch, by all means come and join us, but you will be missing out on more of the fun times we have, the ride is just a ride, but fellowship is what this is all about. Steve it will be great to see you and the family. If there is anything we can do to help, please let us know, we can even send someone down to pick you up if you like............and not on a bike, a nice air conditioned ride.

Well I guess somewhere down the line a name change will be in store when everybody starts dumping their old Ventures for a new ride, I know many riding 2nd Gens were patiently waiting for the 3rd Gen. Looks like the wait is over..........Bad move Star/Yamaha!!!!!

Thanks, I never got a chance to show her off at a big event.........but it will be at Vogel this year.

Now that it is fixed you can ride it to Vogel................

Jamie just picked up my beloved 83 Venture to take her to her new home, I am really going to miss her.:crying: especially since I havent ridden her at Vogel in her new paint and tranny swap, last time I rode her to Vogel was 2006, since then it was her backup my 07 V Star 1300, which will also be leaving here and off to its new home in Canada. I couldnt even ride the 83 one more time because of my knee, maybe Jamie will let me ride her at Vogel.

Looks like you guys had another great time and it looks like you brought in the clowns and it looks like Don has a clown phobia. Great pics, but I read that Muffin wasnt going and I saw a couple of pics that looked to be him. I thought he was going back to work today(Mon).

I finally went back to work last Monday, and everything was pretty good for the first couple of days. On Wed. it got really hard to walk without pain, so I left early. I had been working ot those first 2 days, but left early on the 3rd day. On Thur. and Fri. after just a couple of hours it got really bad and had to medicate to get through the day, the weekend was worse the knee is more painful now than it was immediately after surgery. So looks like I have to go back to the Dr. tomorrow if I can get an appt. and see whats going on, the pain is even worse than it was before the surgery. I don't believe I did anything wrong to hurt it again, but I guess anything is possible. So I haven't been on any of my bikes for any kind of ride since Apr. 2, that was the last day I worked. I am hoping they don't have to cut on it anymore. I think my job might be jeopardy if I have to lay out any more. Top it off my back is acting up again and I am going in for another injection in my back on Tues. Anybody else ever have any problems after having meniscus surgery?

This post took me totally by surprise, like others I was not expecting to see this when I opened this thread. Steve, you will be forever in our prayers, I know this is a devastating blow to your family, and I so hope and pray that the Dr.'s have erred in their diagnosis. You have been a great friend to me and everyone else here at VR, and I know everyone will be with me in prayer to the man above. Like someone else said a positive attitude is imperative when battling this dreaded disease or any ailment. I hope to see you at Vogel and I think we would all be honored if you made a showing if only for a short time. You and your entire family will be my guest, dont even worry about registering, just show up if you feel up to it. If there is anything we can do for you please dont hesitate to call. You are family and we will be here for you. God bless you and your family.

Thank God you and Linda are ok, any damage to your home and outbuildings. If there is anything we can do let us know. If we were close we would be there to help.

I have been running Shinko's on my 83 1st Gen and my V Star 1300. I got about 10,000 miles out of the Shinko 747 that was on the V Star and I just replaced it with another Shinko 777, got it for a decent price, The 83 is still on its 1st Shinko and the front on that one was replaced by Jamie with a 777 also, the rear Shinko has about 4,000 miles on it and still has good tread on it. I like the way they handle, but when they get down to the wear bars, they go away really fast. I think they are a pretty good value for what you get. But they are going up like everything else. I only paid about $176.00 for both when I put them on the V Star the first time. My wife and I both have full coverage Gmax helmets, I like the way they fit and dont rip my ears off like most of the others I have tried on. I have had mine for about 3 years and just got the wifey a new one, hers has more vents and led's out back to make the rider more visible at night. Got both of them on sale at different times for under $100.00. I think you will like the Gmax.
