1. Good luck with your surgery, my wife has had extensive back surgeries in the last three years, she still needs more, but she is much better than she was. Just listen to the Dr's and so as they say. Looks like I will be getting mine done very soon also, back pain really puts a damper on riding............. Good luck and God Bless, we will be praying for you.
2. Good luck, hope everything goes well for ya.................
3. I have done it before, but I couldnt on this one, believe me I tried. But this is a good conversation starter............:stirthepot:.......
4. I wont be offended, they just wont be on the bike when she arrives.................
5. I will take 2............
6. I will be sending you your raffle ticket numbers in the next few days. Was hoping there would be more action, but as of right now, you are the only taker..............I am starting to wonder if this year is gonna be the last...........it aint looking too good.
7. Well here it is, all ready to go, nice and shiny, in fact cleaner than it has ever been since I owned it. I made a few changes to the saddlebags yesterday, which, I am glad I did. I will explain that to Marilyn when she arrives. I am almost ready to change my mind about selling it, but I cant do that to a fellow VR member, a total stranger maybe, but not you guys. Looking forward to seeing the expression on Marilyn's face when she see's it.
8. :bang head:bang head::bang head::think:NEVERMIND!!!!!!!
9. You dont have to worry about the tranny if the engine is an 86 or later, that problem was addressed in the 85's about mid year of that model year, later models dont have any problems with the transmisson. So if it was me and the engine was an 86 or later, I would do the swap if it runs. Another plus is your bumping the engine up another 100cc's if yours is a MKl. Good luck with whatever you do, and remember to pay attention to details and parts when dis-assembling. QUOTE=easternrider;773064]When I bought my bike, it "supposedly" had 23000kms on it. Now it has 31000. Two seperate mechs. told me in their opinion that was probably correct. Anyway, just lately, I came to find out that I have low compression in the #2 cylinder. Did a wet test, compression went up. Even did an air test, which to me, points to a bad set of rings. I also recently bought a parts bike (all in pieces) and the motor has 52000kms on it, and not sure if 2nd gear works or not. I am now at the point where I can't spend a lot more on my bike. So, my question is: What would you do? Pull my motor and replace the rings, or just do a swap-out with an unknown motor. PS: the second motor does turn over, and will check compression before doing anything, if I can........
10. This is how my 83 looked after I repainted it, It wasnt supposed to end up like this, but things got changed a little in the process.
11. I met Don over at Brads house in Texas about 2 years ago, Jamie and I were there to pick up a motor for my 83 and Brad through together a M&E. Don was a great guy, never got to ride with him, but from meeting him for that short time he was a total gentleman and one nice guy. Our prayers are with his family at this awful time. God Bless and God speed Gunboat.
12. It's not old, its well seasoned and broken in, I did all the hard work, with a little help from my friends, and you get to reap the benefits of all by blood, sweat, and tears, the tears are watching you pull away on her. I didn't ever get one last ride before he took her away..........And when you ride her at Vogel it will be the best shape she has been in since I bought her back in 2004. I can't believe I had that bike for 9 years. I will miss her...........:crying:
13. Don't have to worry about me Dan, I am selling them, not buying them. Will be a long time before I am buying again. Probably wont be a 1st Gen next time, that's for sure!!!! :no-no-no:
14. Mini, if your dealer said the same thing, I guess its the Gospel truth then.....................:rotfl::rotfl:
15. Its in August 14-18, its our fundraiser we do for St. Jude Children's Hospital. It is 4 days of fun, riding, eating, riding, eating, well you get the picture. Then in late Sept. early Oct, we ride to meet in Memphis, Tn. to ride to St. Jude to present our donation and take a tour. And no loud bikes allowed, not really, but its mostly touring bikes with an occasional harley thrown in, but most of the bikes are Yamaha, Honda, and quiet. Come try it on, you will enjoy it.
16. OK, for what its worth, in talking to a manager at my local Yamaha dealer, we were speaking about why Yamaha discontinued the RSV, he tells me that Yamaha is doing a total redesign of their bike. He was told at a meeting with them that the new model will be a brand new design from the ground up, I didnt ask him about the cassette, but the basis of the new touring bike will be based on the 1900cc pushrod v-twin that is now on the Roadliner. I know that is not what this hardcore group wants, but is sounds like something Yamaha would do,:bang head: he wasnt sure if it would be a 2014, or later, but said betting on a later date would be most likely. So there you have it, thats whats going on around Yamaha according to my dealer.:crying:
17. Every wife of every member here can be considered a saint......................... :clap2:
18. Here he goes again, I've seen this before.........................
19. Looking forward to seeing you again Tom..............
20. Not for me, I have already had surgery on my neck, and I need surgery on my lower back, so dont want anyone manipulating anything thats already damaged............my wife tried one, but everytime she left the office her back went right back to hurting.
21. Dan if I had a spare one you would be welcome to it, but I dont think that would let me off the hook for what you thought I did wrong.
22. I am trying Annie, when it rains, it pours!
23. Just got back from the MD and took urine sample and blood tests. The urine sample showed elevated counts of bellirubin in my urine, and its not supposed to be there. Sent me for an abdominal x ray, so I should be hearing back a little later this afternoon on the x ray. It looks to be something to do with my liver, I did have hepatitis over 30 years ago, and if I remember right these pains are very similar to what I had then. Once you have it you never get rid of it either, it stays dormant unless something happens to kickstart it again, heaven forbid. So now I am sitting around waiting and not reading anymore on the WWW, except here. At least it is not making me miss work, I am already out..........LOL. :buttkick:
24. Nothing like being kicked while your down, still out of work because of my knee surgery, and a couple of days ago my back starting hurting, thinking it would eventually go away, but no, it has gotten to the point It hurts regardless of what I do, I can only sleep on my left side, and rolling over is pure misery. I have back problems, and had a steroid injection just this past Tuesday a week ago, and now its worse than ever. Going to the Dr. today to see whats going on, I cant get comfortable in any position, and moving is pure agony. In reading up on the WWW, all you get is what ifs and you start thinking everything you read is what you got, till you get to the next article, I gotta stop reading those. So how was your weekend, mine sure sucked!!!!!!:crying:
25. The 83-85 are not the same as the 86-93, they have different bolt patterns. Thats why R1 calipers will not fit the MK1 first gens.
