  1. Super toy you have there Steve, I have always wanted a dune buggy, and you have the ultimate one. I hope you bring it to Vogel, I am sure it would be a hit in the parking lot.
  2. I have been to Wyoming once, I used to do courier work from 1987 till 2005, back in the 90's I had to drive my van out to Casper, Wy. in the dead of winter, dont remember the exact month, but once I hit the Rockies, I had snow most of the way, not bad going up, made it without delays, but on the return trip I got caught up in one of those 100 year storms and it took me over 5 days to get back to New Orleans, where I lived at the time. I had to make numerous stops due to inability to see more than a few feet and really couldnt tell where the road was unless it was just freshly plowed. Spent a couple on nites in motels, and one night in a rest area all by myself, there had to be over 4 feet of snow in the area where I was parked and it was only covered by a few inches when I pulled in. To say it was an experience is an uderstatement. I have always wanted to go back in the summer, but just havent had the time, looks like it will have to wait for retirement which is just around the corner. Thanks for posting the pics, I love that part of the U.S.. Still need to get up to the great Northwest. These are on the bucket list.
  3. New bike to current owner requires pictures..................you should know that by now....... And no using the pics I took, thats cheating...... :stickpoke:
  4. Ken is one of our older members.............he just doesnt log on much. He has been around for quite some time, almost as long as me...........
  5. Glad to hear that they made it without any problems. I can rest easy now. Let me know how those bars work out, I was thinking about getting some but I really didnt have a problem with the stock bars. Hope to see all of you down the road sometime. Thanks for taking the Star off my hands.
  6. We probably all thought it I am sure........................:stirthepot: . \
  7. Have you had any imput on how these will affect the hanling of a 1st Gen. trike. Mine still has the factory brace on it. It doesnt handle bad, but its the first trike I have ever ridden and cant compare it to anything.
  8. Bob got it right, thats what I was doing when I got back into riding, I was buying older bikes in ;non running condition and fixing them up and making them presentable and selling them on Ebay, did that till I ended up with my original 1st Gen and stopped doing it because I had reached my goal to acquire a touring motorcycle. I think I flipped about 15 bikes and parted out a few more to get there, and it was a lot of work, but a ton of fun to turn a piece of junk into a rideable and presentable bike. I am seriously thinking about doing it again after I retire, it really takes a lot of time and energy and I will have plenty of the first later next year. Bubber, the V Star started out to be a replacement bike to ride while I rehabed my 1st Gen and I was only expecting to keep it for a year or so I didnt have any plans on adding to it or modifying it in any way because the plan was not to keep it for 6 years, so 2 years ago I started making it mine, and I only finished doing that a couple of days before Marilyn picked it up, I made the final adjustments that I had been putting off for months, and I wanted it to be right in my eyes when it left here. And now I am kinda sorry I sold it, because it looked so good in my eyes I wanted to keep it, I even told my wife I was thinking about changing my mind a few days before Maryiln got here, but I couldnt do it knowing how excited Marilyn was to get the bike, Now thats my story and I am sticking to it...............................................
  9. Just curious, did she get stopped by the LEO's for having that very legal looking tag on the back of the bike...........if she did, I am sure she sweet talked them out of a ticket, kinda like she did Bubber with those handlebars, I really want to see how those bars look on the bike after they are installed. Is she going to make any additions or modifications to the bike, would love to see those also, I told her where she could find some bling and accessories for the Memphis Shades Faring. Memphis Shades makes chrome trim to mount under the w/s and they also have those windshield bags to mount under the w/s. I really do miss my V Star but I know its in good hands, I hope she gets miles of smiles out of it. We enjoyed their stay even though it was short. OH and like Monty wondered, are you sure your related to Courtney, she is such a sweet and pretty young lady........................just wondering!
  10. You gotta watch out for the Canucks, they are almost as bad as cajuns with pygmies.........
  11. She didnt sweet talk you into putting them on her bike for her................:stirthepot:

  13. Ken Derret, aka 1-Up is having a problem with his 2nd Gen. Here is what he asked me. I am a 1st gen guy, so I will leave it up to the pro's. Sounds to me like the rectifier is going bad. What else could it be? This is from Ken. I have been having trouble with my bike for a couple years now. I thought it was because I needed a new battery. I'll be driving down the road and the bike will die. And, I can't restart it. It (Bike) will only click. I think it has to do with the alt. or what ever they use. I know ride down the road and sometimes hit my horn button and the horn doesn't work. My turn signals don't work. I turn off everything I can. and a short time later they will work again.
  14. I heard from a past member, Carl Guidry aka YamaCarl, he is from my home state of La. and he called to let me know he is coming to Vogel. He isnt a paying member any longer, as his job and his health is stopping him from doing much riding. Some might remember his friend David, he rode a sportster with something most dont have for an accessory. He had a dummy hand grenade hanging of his front axle.........that a different kind of gremlin killer......instead of a bell. Carls 1st gen is quite unique in its on right, it has only on carb on it and its from a car. Carl fabricated all the hardware himself and made it a very unique bike. He rides a GW for his long distance riding, He is now comtemplating selling all his bikes and his leg bothers him when he rides He has an 83 parts bike, a spare 83 engine that runs along with his GW and his blonde 1st gen. I told him when he is ready I would post them up if he wanted me to. David wont be able to make it with him due to scheduling at their job.
  15. I know for some going to an event is a last minute thing, but it sure would help if those that are coming and havent registered or maybe thinking about coming would respond to this post. This is very important for 2 reasons. I need a head count so I will have enough food on hand as to feed everyone on Thursday and also let me know how many t shirts to order so everyone will get one. So please if you think you might come and register there that is fine but I need a better count than what I have now which is only 4 registrations. The poll shows about 22 people coming, I dont want anyone to be shortchanged in the food or the shirt category. Those that have registered or participated in the poll need not respond, Here is the link to the poll. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=78440&highlight=coming+vogel
  16. Paypal sent......................thanks.
  17. Now those are pocket guns.............
  18. Nice setup, I have given thought to getting a pocket holster for my little .380.
  19. What did she have to say about her new ride, the seat is the stock seat, I always found it to be fairly comfortable on long rides, curious to know how it went for her.
  20. Our prayers go out to Dan and his son and family.
  21. My 2 newest guns to my arsenal, the top left is the Hi Point 45 JHP. The middle one is the Hi Point 9mm Compact, and the last one is Jenning's Arms .380, which is what I carry, was going to carry the 9mm, but its a tad big. The little 380 I have had for almost 20 years. Not a bad little weapon and very concealable. Shoots pretty decent too, havent shot the 45 yet, will do that in the next couple of weeks, it is the one caliber I always wanted to own. 22. The ladies are on their way, left here at 7:45 am this morning.
  23. I am exhausted already, and she hasnt even left yet. Going to be sad seeing another bike leave my garage............it getting empty in there, what I can I put in it now, the trike might get lonely.
  24. Yeah, you missed it, and it wont ever happen again, once is enough, I will never forget it either, it is etched in my mind.................
  25. I have been hanging in there, but right about now I am about ready to hang it up:starz::starz:
