2nd gen Engine swap...need pointers
DragonRider replied to woodco100's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I looked in the tech files for that info, but found none, but several members here have done it. I suggest you contact Dingy, he is building a custom bike using a 1st gen motor in a 2nd gen frame. I an sure he would be good source for info. -
Don I agree with you about the digital machines that are being discussed, but there are some very big ones out there that are completely manual, my son uses them every day at the company he co-owns. But these are water jet cutters meant to cut very thick metal up to 3-4 inches thick, like railway tank cars, storage tanks, chemical tanks, and the such. These are set up to run on a rail that is set up on the object being cut. My son travels all over the country doing this because there are very few companies that have this capability. They have to transport their cutters in two 16 foot enclosed trailers. I too, would love to have access to one like they use at OCC. That machine is awesome, and very very expensive.

Ok this is not bike related, but an inquiry as to whether anybody here is a member or subscribes to USCCA. I just became a member, and received my first magazine, and found it full of great articles and products. Membership also brings many good benefits besides the mag. It contains info that some will find very educational. I recommend it highly.

I was searching for a gun safe for my guns, so I searched the usual places, eBay, and Craigslist. I found one on CL and emailed the seller, I kept stalling about going to see it, because of the weather and distance, it was located aprox 75 miles from me. He had pictures posted on CL but when I emailed him I asked him for some specific pictures, like close ups of the safe, and the interior, just to give him a chance to prove he actually had the safe. But instead he sent me the same pics he had on CL, which were identical to some on the manufacture's website, so I decided to pass on it. Now had I gone to look at it, I would have told him I was a local leo in my town and would like to meet him with the assistance of a fellow leo in his town. His response was that he decided not to sell and took the ad down from CL. Now in the case of something like a car or bike or something fairly portable, I would suggest we meet at the local PD or nearby firehouse for both our protection. That would weed a lot of scammers out. You just cant be to careful when dealing with CL.

Prayers
DragonRider replied to Yammer Dan's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
I remember that night well in 2009 at Vogel, that is something I will never forget, we wish you were closer so we could have that group prayer with you and your entire family at this time of distress, but distances separate us by many miles, but we will close that distance with prayer. Jamie, Paula, Charlene and I will have that group prayer, and you and your family will be in those prayers. God Bless you Skid and your entire family. -

Walter is a great rider its just his sitting still that is a problem............LOL! Walt at least you havent dumped you wife of the bike in front of a big group like I have........she has to hang tough too when she rides with me, thats why we are on three wheels now.........Love you guys.

Thanks to you and all our members that served, I never had the pleasure of serving due to be classified 4-F, I even tried to enlist in the Army, Air Force, and the Navy, but once they looked at my file, no way, I really wanted to follow in my older brothers foot steps in the A.F. As close as I got was when I was at LSU, as a freshman you had to take ROTC either Army or Air Force, so I choose A.F. I truly enjoyed it and it made me not being able to enlist even more difficult. Of course had I enlisted and served it would been at the height of the Vietnam conflict, so maybe a good thing, I have mixed emotions about it. I had a few close friends who served and did their tour over there and it changed them big time. Even now I have a greater appreciation of our servicemen and women who serve. I actually got a chance to talk to an Army Snipe yesterday at the gun range, he works there and we talked at length about his job while in the sandbox, 3 tours. The range even has a Barrett 50 cal. sniper rifle just like the one he used that you can rent and shoot at the range. I am going to do it. Not meaning to steal you thread Randy, but once I start I seem to ramble. Thanks to all that served, you have my respect and heartfelt thanks!

I know exactly what you mean Puc, I haven't been on my trike since before Thanksgiving, and we have had some nice weather here in the Atlanta area. And then the little bit of riding I did get in didnt amount to much because of the knee surgery I had earlier in the year, so my mileage this year is really gonna be down. I don't expect to be allowed back on it till sometime after March, that's almost 6 months of walking by it and not even being able to climb aboard. I cant ever work on it, because I am not supposed to be lifting anything what so ever, no straining, no nothing..........and watching vids like yours and others doesn't help one bit, it just makes it worse...:bang head:

Bored, and tired of the white stuff, so break out the summer vids and try to shake the doldrums...........................:bang head: Did it work?

Saw this on FB, kinda scary in a way................didn't know where else to post this, so if the moderators want to move it or delete, I am ok with that.................. http://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/

The 83 is the best engine out there, bar none, buy an 83, if the tranny is bad, do what I did, got a tranny from a 86 motor and dropped it right into my 83. Runs like new and no more skipping 2nd gear, but I had a donor engine and just swapped out the transmisson, my donor was an 86, perfect swap. I still have the engine for spare parts. The tranny's from any 1st gen will fit any year, in fact Ventureous put a tranny from a 2nd gen in his 83.

I agree with you 150% about the way they held back the other units, it would have made a big difference, but thats our government in action. I will check out the Jessica Buchanan kidnapping.

This was an exceptional movie, I was a little leery about seeing it at first and wasn't sure if Charlene would like it, but we both loved it, one of the most realistic war movies I have ever seen. It was gritty, and action packed. The roles were played very well and the action once it started was endless, it has been a long time since I have been to a movie that affected me the way this one did. The emotions ran high and really kicked in at the end. I give this movie 5 stars, I might even go back and see it again to see if I missed anything. It really gives one a true sense of what our military and especially our Special Forces and Navy Seals go through during training and in combat. I read that the families of the Seals who died in this action approved and actually viewed the premiere and thought highly of how it portrayed their family members. Even if your not a Mark Walhberg fan, you gotta see this movie, and take plenty of tissue cause your gonna need it.:thumbsup:
