Don't knock it till you've tried it, I said the same thing, but you know what, I enjoy it more, I still miss being on 2 wheels, but the wife rides with me now, she just wasn't comfortable on the 83. Now she can ride comfortably, especially since I moved the rear box on the trike back by about 4 inches, it also raised it up a little. I did the same thing on the 83 and just that little change makes the bikes look so much different. But like I said, I didn't think I would ever go to a trike, but, as we get older we change our ways...............besides Charlene told me to buy it. What was I to do? She has never told me to buy a bike before, who was I to argue, that chance may never come around again??

No know I have to hand to a guy who I once thought was joking about wearing pink, even pink chaps and vest, only a guy like Jeff could pull it off. You know now that I think about it, there isn't too much I have left of my dad's except all of his tools, and some of them are ancient, he started out as a mechanic around 1926, and I do believe some of these tool are from that era. I also have some very large wrenches from when he worked a Avondale Shipyards in Bridge City, La. They built a lot of Navy ships, Destroyer's, Destroyer Escorts, LST, and Navy transports. I mean some of the wrenches are like for 3 and 4 inch nuts, it takes two hands to heft them. But the BB gun is the one thing I will treasure and pass on to my son for his kids, or maybe to my daughter for her 2 boys.

You Bob, you are one of a kind, and in all seriousness you are a great writer, I am still trying to figure out who's writing style you are emulating or maybe combining several writers style to make your own. Nope, it aint over and dont see an end to this crazy cold weather, gonna be below freezing all day here in Newnan, by the time I took my grandsons to the bus stop it had dropped to 16 degrees, even so cold in the northern parts of the state some counties were closing the schools because of single digit cold. My wife is down is S.La. at our sons house and they were predicting snow for them..............:doh:........

Great read, I enjoyed every word of it. I still think you need to write a book, it would be a great read, you have such a way with words, but I think your problem is you cant sit still long enough to write one.............and take that as a challenge! Great collection of air guns, I have one that my dad bought about 35 years ago, its a Daisy Red Ryder lever action. He bought it to shoo the dogs and cats out of the yard. He didnt want to hurt them just trying a little Pavlov Dog treatment, for some it took 4-5 times, but other either didnt feel it or didnt care. I sat on a shelf in my garage for about 19 years, so one day I pulled it down and cocked it, it fired mut weakly. So I added some oil and it started getting better. The first shots went about a foot and dropped like a rock, now I can hit my shed with some degree of accuracy and that is about 50-60 feet from where I am shooting. I am going to start my grandsons on firearms safety using this neat little gun. Thanks for a great story and keep them up.

Randy, Skid is located fairly close to the interstate, and the area is rich in great mc riding roads. But he has 2 things going for him that make his place absolutely perfect. 1. OK, so we got Jamie's bike going with a universal 40 amp circuit breaker, and while I was at it I added one to my stash of emergency back up parts, I went shopping online this morning in search of an OEM, well can't be had at the dealers, discontinued, why? There are still plenty of bikes out there that use them and sooner or later everyone is gonna need one. I found some on eBay, most were used, but found a couple of new ones but the prices were all over the place. I found a few good used ones for under $10.00 including shipping, but the prices were ridiculous. Anywhere from $2.95 to $59.29 before shipping, now a couple did have free shipping but they were the highest priced ones. I should have taken pictures of how we adapted the Buss breaker, but it was getting late and we needed to get Jamie's bike going, and if this fix didn't work, we were going to pull the one off of my trike. Basically what we did was cut the pigtail with the plug off of one end and attach it to one of the post and then opened up the fuse, which will open up very easily after you remove the rubber band from it, and took the blade from that end and attached it to the other post. Then we insulated it with some foam and taped it all up so it couldn't short out. I also found that there is a replacement link that can be put in the original holder, it wasn't obvious at the time, but I saw just the metal link on eBay. It is amazing how many automotive parts can be adapted to our vintage bikes, it just takes a little research and a little time. I have used an automotive starter solenoid on my Yamaha Seca when it went out and it was much cheaper than the Yammy stealer. All I did was take it to Auto Zone and they matched it up for me at about 1/10th the cost.

Today Jamie and I spent time working on his 1st gen, which was mine for 8 years. His radio was only playing out of 1 channel. I had a couple of spare parts here so we did some trouble shooting and finally replaced the amplifier portion of the radio. All was fine there. His cig. lighter was not hooked up so we proceeded to hook it up, tried it out, it promptly blew a fuse. We thought it blew the fuse to which we connected to in the fuse block, but no, all the fuses were good. Only one other fuse I knew of and that was the main fuse mounted atop the battery, its 40 amp and is really a fuseable link encased in a large plastic case. So we ran over the the Yama Stealer to try and get one. They pulled up every year of the 1st gen and guess what. That part has been discontinued. We were up a creek, so one of the parts guys suggested we go to NAPA, they have everything. Showed the NAPA guy what we were looking for, no go, we walked over to the fuse section and he showed us a 40 amp circuit breaker, a small box encase in steel with 2 threaded post sticking out the bottom. [ATTACH]81756[/ATTACH] So we cannibalized the old one for the pigtails and what we needed to hook it up to the stock connectors then tried it out and it worked perfectly. Now the cost at Yammy was 35.00 plus tax. The price at Napa was $3.69. And this one will trip if something makes it and will reset itself when you fix the circuit.

Its not the distance stopping me now, its me recovering from my surgery, no bike and no long distance travel till I go to the Dr. next week. As for the next Skid In, I will be there, I can almost assure you, especially if I am retired. But but you have more important matters to worry about. Keep us posted. We got your back.

You know its probably a good thing that most of this group doesn't live within short traveling distance of your hospital or home, because the hospital and your home would be overwhelmed with all the visitors you would get, and that could be problematic at the hospital. All the leather wearing hard core bikers showing up to visit a state trooper! People might get the wrong impression of whats going on and want to call in the cavalry. And to think what would happen if we showed up at your house.........Another Skid In! You know we all got your back on this and praying mightily for you!! :bighug:

I remember at one time there used to be a counter that kept track of the top posters on the site, and I can still remember some of the names of the top posters, not all of them but some. In no exact order some of them were. But when that list was up, there was actually an unofficial race to see who could post the most...........

I was a product of the 60's, being my formative years, never was around anyone who did it till the early 70's, and I shunned those that did, as it was illegal and potentially dangerous, so it was said. Then around 74 a very good friend convinced me to try it once, I did, I enjoyed it and never looked back. I was glad I hadn't tried it sooner as I probably wasn't mature enough to handle it. I smoked it for many years and I never yearned for anything stronger, then this same friend turned me on to something else, church, the irony, out went the pot , cold turkey and I have never looked back, can't say that I missed it, I had something else in my life now. As for a legalizing it, 1. It would take the emphasis of putting recreational users behind bars where there are far to many people doing time for smoking it. 2. It would allow law enforcement to concentrate on more serious matters, like heroin, meth, coke, crack. Put those traffickers behind bars. 3. Having the government tax it and regulate it would help the coffers of some locales that are in dire need of revenue. I could go on with some more. But the question is, should we legalize it? I would wait to see how it goes in the 2 states that have legalized it before I answer that question.

No, not at all Bob, but I have been involved in a couple of instances where I was completely defenseless and shot at, and I vowed that I would never end up in that position again. Next time we meet, I will tell you about them, if you are interested. As for it being a sudden interest for me, that is not the case, it is something I have contemplated for a long time before actually following through with it.
