DragonRider replied to Yammer Dan's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
With all the prayers for you, your family, your doctors, and this new drug, I have no doubt that you will beat this thing, your fairly young, in pretty good shape for a guy turning 50. So after you got it beat and your retirement begins, how long before you start making a road trip down to Newnan and visit with us. Plenty of room for you and Leslie. The door is open any time day or nite. And Charlene can definitely put some of those pounds back on you with some of her Cajun cooking, I can promise that, just look what it did to me, Muffinman and Dokon can attest to it also. She puts a few pounds on them every time they come down. -

I would go with the Victory CrossCountry or the CrossTour, much better looking than the Vison. Now just need the cash to do it. Good luck with your choice.

Prayers going up for you and your family as you traverse this bump in the road. Take care, and God Bless. -
You know the VR family has your back, you need anything, you just let us know, we got it. Charlene, myself, Jamie, Paula, praying for you and your entire family. Now when it comes to retirement remember to take some time for yourself, you earned it, and you deserve it. Take care and keep that positive attitude, thats number one. May God Bless you and your entire family.

Today my daughter called to tell us that our beloved pet Snickers, was not able to get up and had quit eating, we are visiting our son in S. La., so she was taking him to the vet, actually Snickers belonged to her, but one of our grandchildren was afraid of him so he lived with us. He was 17 years old and quite the character. His breathing was labored and he wasnt eating so the Vet suggested putting him down. I have had to do this with all my pets, as they lived a long time, so I know it was really hard for my daughter to do by herself. Its like loosing a family member, Charlene has broken down several times, as I have. These are pics of the last time I walked him during Snowjam, he loved playing in the snow, even though he was blind. RIP Snickers

They still cant get close to being accurate. When I woke up this morning and logged on this is what Yahoo had for our local weather' Newnan 2°F Fair 44°F High 16°F Low Today 30°F 44°F High 16°F Low Tomorrow 45.5°F 55°F High 36°F Low Saturday 54°F 60°F High 48°F Low IT was forcasted to get down to about 16 degrees for a low, well I think they missed it. And we wonder why things get so screwed up when bad weather is forecast. Now they did get it right about how bad the storm was going to be, it was the eggheads in ATL government that screwed up their part.

A hearty HELLO OUT THERE to all you non writing readers!!
DragonRider replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
That Puc has found out that we all exist, he is trying to make up for all the lost time by posting and getting his count up. Yeah, some like to lurk, some like to stir the pot, and some like to say nothing at all...........and sometimes the posts themselves say nothing at all.!!!:stirthepot: -
Here is what happens when is snows in the south.
DragonRider replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
Some of them are getting cleared, still dicey on the icey roads. Some money hungry tow operators were removing vehicles from the interstate and now want to gouge the owners for towing. They were not authorized by the city or state to tow. I hate companies that would do that for the few extra dollars they get. -
Didnt see any of this on tv news yesterday. Very large pileup. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeNrAO3Bx-g]Georgia Snow Terrible Multiple Car Collision Accidents I-75 Complication Atlanta, Ga - YouTube[/ame]

Here is my take on why it gets so bad.. First of all most people don't know how to drive on snow/ice, secondly, most northerners have chains and snow tires that they switch out to for winter driving, I know most tires now are rated MS for uses in all types of weather, but they are not as good as having the proper tires, mine are rated MS and they handled like crap. So its a number of factors that make it bad when we get 1-5 inches of snow, and most places got more than 2-3 inches and some got as much as 4-5. And the local government doesn't help when they wait to shut everything down.

We are in the middle of it here in Newnan, no let up in sight yet about 1-1 1/2 on the ground now. My dog loves it, he just runs around in it not knowing what to do. Had to drag him in from walking him. Coming down pretty good here in Newnan, started about 9:30, Had to take Charlene to Dr. appointment or we wouldn't have been out in it. Had breakfast after and it was still just flurries, went to daughters house to see the grand-kids and they were all excited. We left there about 12:30 and it was starting to accumulate on the ground and road, we were ok till we got about a mile from our house and 2 vehicles in front were going to turn but couldn't because they couldn't slow down without sliding, so I ended up doing the same thing and almost got 3 vehicles..........but we missed all of them. Then coming down a small hill on our street the car wouldn't turn till we went over the curb. I didn't try going down my driveway because it is sloped so much, so I ended up parking on the street. And they expect this till last till 7-8 PM. These pics are after about 1 1/2 hours of snowfall. Could be more than just a taste, where I am anywhere between 1-3 inches, I know thats not a lot by most peoples standards, but its enuff to shut down the state of Ga. Most people here have no idea of how to drive in snow and ice, I have driven in my fair share of it having been a driver for over 18 years, and I have driven in some really, really bad storms, but given the choice I would rather stay off the road, but there are those that relish the idea of getting out and driving in it and causing problems..........I will sit it out and watch. Now I know my grandkids are going to love it.

Puc, I cant see anything except that beautiful chopper. Is or was that yours and did you build it. Cool looking, I never owned one, but I roade a friend of mine back in the late 80's, it was a Honda 750 with the front forks extended out so far you needed binoculars to see the front wheel. Handled like a bus trying to turn it...... [/b]
