If you really want to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, come on out and ride to Memphis to help us make our donation to the "Kids' of St. Jude. No cost to come unless you want to make a donation and you will get either a T shirt, Pin, or hat for your efforts and get to see what St. Jude is all about. We have a core group that goes every year and a few newbies always show up, but we would really like to set a record with members this year. If you dont want to ride you can come in your cage, several always do. Its a great time for a great cause and this year we will get to see our plaque honoring our fallen members. "Its all about the "Kids"

Regardless of what count I give them, they seem to do a great job of showing us around whether we have 10 people or 50 people, the main thing is we will be there with another good donation thanks to the great members we have here.

It was something I will never forget, for one thing the wife and I were in Boston for a couple of weeks in Sept, 2001, visiting my cousin and her family. We flew out of Boston's Logan airport on 9/9/2001, just 2 days before it happened. Logan was a very busy airport that day with the Boston Marathon being over and everyone leaving Boston, we were diverted from 1 flight to another that wasn't so crowded make it home. Then 2 days later I am sitting there watching the news and couldn't believe what I was hearing, when I first saw the video of the first plane hitting it looked like a smaller jet like a 737, didn't learn that it was a 757/767 till later, then my daughter came over to tell me that her now husband who was working in N. Y. at the Fox Bldg, had called to tell her what happened so we sat in stunned silence and watched as the second one hit. He said from where he was when he came out of the bldg it was after the 2nd plane had hit and they started herding people out of Manhattan, he walked across the Brooklyn Bridge like so many others did. The death toll of all these attacks was higher than the death toll at Pearl Harbor! At that time I was driving Hot Shot and later that day went out on a run and it was really strange not seeing any contrails or hearing any jets in the air, very very eerie. It is a day I will never forget. God Bless America.

I Just spoke to Martha at St. Jude and we are confirmed for Oct. 4, 2014. They wanted a count but I couldn't give her a firm count, but I told her 20 maybe more. And while we are there they will show us the wall where our Venturerider plaque is hanging. If you missed the post with all the info just follow this link, it will take you right to it. So, please come on out and help us help the "Kids" at St. Jude Children's Hospital. YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!!!!/I] http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=88306&highlight=Ride+jude

Would love to see some more members come out for this great institution.

I so far only have 6-8 people committed to show up at St. Jude for the donation and tour. Don't know if it is even worth making the ride up there for such a small group. I hope this doesn't reflect on how we go on in the future with St. Jude and the fundraising we do for them. There wasn't a lot of participation in the auctions last go round and I still have plenty of shirts left for the St. Jude event. If you haven't been to St. Jude, you are really missing out on seeing what goes on there. Its an awesome place that does an awesome job of treating and curing kids of cancer and they need all the funding they can get. .81 of every $1.00 donated goes to research, the rest goes to admin. fees and such. It seems every year they have a new building or wing to show us. So, please open your hearts to these kids and come on out and help us support this wonderful organization that Danny Thomas started many years ago, you wont regret it, I promise. We are in our 10th year of supporting the "Kids" at St. Jude and I would like to continue our efforts for another 10 years. To date we have raised over $35,000.oo for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Skid you were a little late seeing those, they were from 2007, how did you come across those, were you time shifting again? LOL..........
-
Begins today, I am now un-emp----er, retired..........let the fun begin.

Not really sad for me..............tomorrow is my last day of work, retiring, now the real work begins, lots of things to do on the list, most of all of it isnt really work, its something I enjoy doing and thats working with my hands fixing things other than my bikes. Everyone says I will miss working and get tired of being retired, but I dont think so, because at heart I really am a lazy kind of guy. But the wife and I plan on doing some much needed time getting back with family and friends down in the NOLA area, then up to the Great Northwest for couple of weeks visiting her brother and seeing some sights. I have been waiting for this for a long time and still have a hard time beleiving its almost here.:dancefool:
