2016 VentureRider International Rally Discussion
DragonRider replied to Freebird's topic in Watering Hole
Don you are absolutely right about declining attendance, the attendance at all our Vogel rallies has declined every year. This year is no exception, I have only received 10 registrations and the event is only 10 days away, and I even changed it to a free event with no frills thinking it was the economy hurting it. Last year we had aprox 50 people show up and this year we are looking at possibly even less than that. It does take a lot to put these events on and if we can't get a close count on how many are coming it can make things hard to plan, like how many to feed, how many shirts to order, patches and so on. So it looks like this could possibly be the last official Vogel rally. I for one would hate to see the IR not happen anymore since we havent been able to attend one yet. I had thought about having an IR at Vogel but every Vogel has had an international feel to it with the Canadians and the Aussies invading. -
It is a beautiful bike with the exception of the front fender, that is really ugly, I know its iconic to Indian, but its still ugly, as well as the price tag.

Kenny we sure are gonna miss you and Beth, I know she is going through a rough patch right now, but praying for a full recovery from this problem. Give Beth a hug from us, we continue to pray and put you on our prayer list at church. You will be missed by all.

5 days till Vogel! This year is going to be a little different, you can attend for free, that's right free, no registration fee, also no catered meal, no custom t-shirt or patch, but we will have lunch rides, evening rides to eat, The Cherahola Skyway, and the Dragon. Lots of fun, some door prizes, raffles, and auctions, I have 2 Morgan Carbtunes to give away and some other nice stuff being donated by generous members. So come on out and enjoy the N. Ga. mountains Vogel style. Who knows this may be the last Vogel you have a chance to attend. And you will be helping the "Kids" at St. Jude Children's Hospital at the same time. Its not too late to register or just get on you bike and come, in fact you can register when you arrive. Very relaxed this year, Check with these locations for lodging, the hotels in Blairsville is where a lot of members are staying and there is also the park Just a little reminder, since I did not order special t-shirts and patches for this years event, I do have some Cruisin'for St. Jude t-shirts to give to each person attending, but its a limited number, most are the latest version, then I have a very few of the previous years shirts, plus I have a few shirts left over from the last batch I had made, so the early bird gets the worm in this case, when they are gone, thats it. I have a few hats and pins that will either be auctioned or put into the raffle. I also have patches from previous years events, most from last year, but a few of the older patches available also. Everyone will get a shirt and patch as long as they hold out. If you are attending Vogel this year, you already know that things are going to be a little bit different this year. We will not be having a catered meal on Saturday as we have in the past. This year it going to be a bit of pot luck. There is a very large grill at the shelter we use, and we already have someone bringing hot dogs, and we have picked up cups, plates, utensils, condiments, napkins. We will still need drinks, chips, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans a maybe some desert. When you show up at the registration table we will have a list of things needed and you can sign up to supply an item or two. We will also have a bucket for donations for food if you want to do it that way and we will pick the items up. If you decide to bring something with you just let us know at registration and we will mark it or add it to the list of supplies. Any questions or suggestions please address them here or send me a pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone in 2 weeks.

Me too, too much going on here with Dr.'s for the both of us................
-
Dan, so sorry that it is taking you so long to recover, I know you have had your share of Dr's and nurses, some good, some not so good. Hope you find you one that will take control and get you back to normal. Still in our prayers, take it easy bud. I have been complaining about my back, but then I read your posts and I shouldnt be complaining, I have it pretty good compared to you.

Skid, I cant picture you riding a trike, you just dont fit the bill, your far too young to be riding a trike, heck I thought I was to young for one untill my knees and back starting going south on me............I would think you would be better suited to what Carbon1 is riding around in, sporty and an eyecatcher.

Frog Toggs, anyone go t'em? anything better?
DragonRider replied to Great White's topic in Watering Hole
We have two sets we purchased at Academy Sports and we only paid $19.95 each for them, thats way lower than what they cost elsewhere, I thought it was a mistake but last time I looked they were still the same price. Haven't had to use them yet, and have had them for over a year, they stay in the trike and dont take up much room at all. -
Dan, we are still praying for your recovery, with you being in so much pain, I suspect you wont be making Vogel this year, but you will be missed, just rest up and follow the warden's and the Dr.'s orders, your health is far more important than anything else at this point. Good luck with the VA, I know how they are, my best friend in La. is always complaining about them, and really dont give him much help.
