  2. Very nice, even for a 2nd Gen...................and Ditto on what Don said..........
  3. Ok, Charlie, congrats on the new scoot, but you know the rules..........Rule #1......PICS WHERE ARE THEY????????????????
  4. Guess that makes you a hardcore rider then.......... That does not look to be comfortable enough for 10 miles let alone 70!!!
  5. Are you talking about the chrome light bar that goes around the rear box.........it has 6 light on it 3 on each side. I just cut some plexi to size and used fingernail polish on the inside and replace all of mine, I might still have a couple of the good lens if I can find them and they are what you need they are yours............... Can you take a pic of what they look like?
  6. Prayers sent up for quick and full recovery. Dont blame yourself for what happened, you had no control over someone else's actions. It could have happened anyplace, anytime. Just be thankful he is still with you and your family.
  7. Jamie, myself and 2 friends from church went for our first official ride of the season, before it even started I stalked a 1st gen in Newnan, Ga. He was waiting on his friends to ride, he was on a very nice blue 93, that he just purchased, he didnt know about the site so I informed him it was the place ;to be for a Venture owner, he said he would check it out, his name was Charles, so make sure you give him a warm welcome when he checks us out. We planned on eating at Col. Poole's BBQ in Ellijay, but we got there a tad early, so we went on riding, before we left Ellijay I spotted a Black Cherry RSV at a light, face looked familiar but he didnt see us or ignored us, not sure which. This was around 10:30 am. We went on up to Suches, Ga. and had a very good lunch at Two Wheels Only. We had some great roads to ride and all total we did 375 miles of great roads, but we had to keep slowing down to let the other two Harley riders catch up, they just couldnt handle the twisties as well as Jamie and I..........Great day, low temp started about 60, and got up to about 83 by the time we got home.........The Venture ran perfect, especially since I fixed the one bad diaphram I had. And how was your day?
  8. I think I have a cord from an old headset.........5 pin.........If its what you need and I have it , its yours........it from an original Honda J&M headset.
  9. Thats a very good price Dan, you know I have one and love it...........buy it before it dissapears..............he will love it. Is it the tourer or the naked?
  10. Eck, that wasn't:no-no-no: a missed turn it was an opportunity to practice our u-turns like on the Ride like a pro video.......................
  11. Todd, are you by chance off this Saturday, Jamie and I and a few others from our motorcycle ministry are going out Saturday and well be passing your neck of the woods, headed for the Col.'s place for lunch and up to Suches and other parts, love to have you come along especiall since you know those roads very well. We will be leaving the Newnan area around 8-8:30 am, so hope you can meet up with us.
  12. No more dogs for us, rather her, and since she has me, I cant have another. Thats a beautiful dog, and I would love to have it..........but I dont want to have to live in the dog house with it, since we dont have a fenced in yard either................its a shame what some people do with their unwanted pets...............how would they like it if they just got dumped somewhere and had to live off the land............I know what I would like to do to them but that would end with a jail sentence...............
  13. Double check your two wires on the lower right hand side and make sure they are plugged in. they are behind the chrome cover just above the horn. If one of them is unplugged you wont get a reading, and if its loose it will give intermittent reading.
  14. I also have an 83 and had the same problem, what I actually found out was it was the rear brake was building pressure in the line and causing the front to also lock up. Next time put it up on the center stand and see if the back wheel is free. I changed all the pads and the rear resv. and its working better now. Dont know what was causing it. Did you clean the area where the pads sit in the caliper, I found a lot of buildup there that was not letting the pads move freely.
  15. I have heard rumors that he knew how to ride one of them things............but it just aaint right.........no no no no............dont look natural. Hope he dont get bit by that 2nd gen bug!!!!!
  16. Prayers going up for all involved, full and swift recovery!!

  23. I just replaced both rear tires on my bikes, they were Avons, both with about 12,000 miles on them, neither one had any cracking in the sidewalls. The one on the Venture was bought in 2006, and the one on the V Star was bought in 2008. I had been watching them ever since the cracking post started. Loved the Avons, but the prices had gotten so high I decided to replace them with the less expensive Shinko's based on other members use of them especially Squidley, he has never steered me wrong yet. I love the way they handle and are very quiet. The V Star got the 747 radial, and the Venture would have to but they only had it in one size, I rode the V Star yesterday after getting in back from the shop and I love the way it makes the bike feel, very positive handling characteristics. I will be tracking the wear very closely to see how it compares to the Avon Venom X. My front tires are still about 60-70% tread left, Hopefully get 20,000 thousand out of them.
  24. I feel your pain. Been there done that...............
  25. Just take it one step at a time...........as you remove each cover you will uncover how to do the rest.......... Start with the tank cover, then the side covers, they snap off, some have a small rubber snap on the back of the bottom side that clips to the frame, the saddle bag have a lock in the middle front between the back half and the frame, just use the ignition key to unlock it and pull it out toward the back of the bike. The rear box has a similar key under the bottom back side just above the tailight, turn to unlock and push forward and it comes off. The lower fairings are held on with screws and bolts that are visible once the covers are off. There is a piece down low in front of the engine that needs to be removed before you start on the lowers. 2 screws on the bottom, 1 each side. Just remember to be very careful, 27 year old plastic is brittle, dont ask me how I know, but I do. That should give you a good start, it gets a little more intensive if you want to go as far as removing the entire fairing. Good luck and remember to put all the screws and bolts into small baggies or containers to keep from loosing them. It would help to take step by step pics as you go. I didnt and it took me longer to reassemble and find replacement screws, and when I did replace them I used allen head screws i got at Lowe's. Makes it very easy to reassemble. Good luck.
