DragonRider replied to mrich12000's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Its a Memphis Shades fairing, got the fairing, windshield 7", and the lowers, all for under $250.00. I made my own mounts out of alum, I run a CNC milling machine at work and ran them on it and they work really nice. ------------------------------------------------------- (Quote....Curious to know what you guys paid for a new V* 1300 ?? Quote) I got mine on sale about $2000.00 of MSRP, I really didnt want the 1300, wanted the Stratoliner, but with such a good price, I couldnt pass it up..............glad I didnt. -
Our prayers are with you, take it easy and make a full recovery. I hope that your doctors are as good or better than Charlene's, since her back surgery she is totally out of pain, God willing you will be too........... Lewis & Charlene

It takes a little doing but I have done it and so have a few others, I came up with my own mounting. 1st I had to make and adapter pipe to go from the muffler to the collector, it has to have about a 16 degree bend in it, a muffler shop can do that for you. Then you need to cut it down to the proper length to get the ends of the RK's to end where you want them to. For the brackets I went to Lowes and got some 1/2 inch square steel tube to use as my mounting brackets. Drilled holes in the back end to match the RK muffler, cut to length and mounted it to the back of the bracket that the stock muffler was bolted to, I cut off three sides so I had just one flat piece 3/4 inch long with a hole drilled in it to accept the bolt on the back side of the mount. I have attached detailed pics. Hope this helps

Randy, they do have them, but for some reason they didnt work on this one. They have had them in place for a long time, but not everything is perfect now is it, just look at our motorcycles.................:stirthepot:

I was using both lowers, the ones I made to go with the stock shield and the ones from Memphis Shades..............I removed the stock type and stayed with the MS on the fairing and no noticeable difference. They are well worth the price.
-
Looks great Dan, how are you liking the fairing, it looks great with the matching hard bags.........cant wait to see it in person.
-
GO and check out Bikebandit.com They have most of the fairing plastic and reasonable prices, brand new.

When I had my brakes replaced on my V Star 1300, they used EBC pads and not the stock Yammie pads.......man talk about a difference...............my brakes are far better now than when the bike was brand new.........stay away from the Yamaha pads...............

Very nice.........I got an 07, Raven, replaced the windshield with a Batwing fairing. 1st pic is before, then after. -
Do not overfill the rear brake resv. If you do the brake fluid will heat, expand and cause you brakes to lock up......................Dont ask me how I know, but I do................:bang head:
