I am planning or replacing the trans gears in my 83, Muffinman told me to get an 86 or later and its a direct swap. Does anyone have one they would be willing to part with. I can get one on Ebay, but would much rather deal with someone I can trust.

I see I missed a surprise VR member at MD, that must have been a shock to many to see him there, but I guess he showed up to keep his wife out of trouble................:duck: The only reason I know he was there, Charlene started asking me all sorts of questions about MD, she knew since Jan. that he was planning on showing up to surprise everyone,and was sworn to keep it quiet............. and then we get a phone call from Muffinman..............Good news is we will be seeing him next Sat before he flies back out...............:dancefool: [ATTACH]46662[/ATTACH]

Jerry called me last nite and invited Charlene and I up to that, but I dont have but 2 days of vacation left and I am saving them. Sounds like a fun trip. He also told me he and Dottie went out riding yesterday and stopped at a Wine Tasting, he was laughing so hard telling me about it, I could hardly understand him.....had to be a site, he said they were mostly senior citizen lesbians.............I dont know if it was the drugs he is taking, or the wine and the sun, but I have never heard him laugh so hard and so much. And you know how Jerry can embellish a story................:rotfl::rotfl:

Well it fianlly happened, second gear has been popping out, well when I left for work this morning went to shift into third gear and it wouldnt go in, downshifted to second, no problem, down to first no problem, went back up through the gears, still will not go into third, had to turn around and get the other scoot out to go to work, glad it didnt happen after I got halfway there. I have been knowing I needed the split washer fix, well now looks like I am forced into it, thank goodness I have the other bike to ride, the bummer is finally got everything working right on the 1st gen, and this happens, guess I will start tearing it down either this weekend or next. I will have to go back and find that excellent tech article about doing "The Fix". At least this is the last thing that needs to be done to make her good again!!! Got to get some help over to pull the engine out, maybe I can get 86er and Wingman to help in that area, maybe between the 3 of us we can geterdone.

Very nice indeed Bill, I can see why u have hesitated so long in parting with it..........but face it you aint no kid, and neither I am, I would kill myself on that before I got out of 1st gear..............:buttkick:

Never heard of anyone having to cut them off, I do believe they are clamped on just like the ones on the 1st Gens.........but, I'm no expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once......... -

Good thing your going this time of year, any later in the summer and the tar balls and oil will be rolling in........................and that sucks. I really feel for all my cajun brethren down in S. La.,or anyone anywhere else that this effects, who make their living in or on the Gulf Coast. To hear BP tell it the damages would be minimal, and short term............YEAH RIGHT, I will never buy any BP product ever again!!!!!!!!!!! The U.S. govt. allowed them to start operating that rig without an enviromental impact study because the likelyhood of an accident was non existent................ Sorry Gerald, didnt mean to hijack your thread........

Since 2005 my wife and I with help from various members of VR have been hosting a Venturerider Rally at Vogel State Park in Blairsville, Ga. It starts on a Wed, and runs through Sun, when everybody takes off back to home. We have various rides and get-togethers while we are there, it is a great time to meet other members of Venturerider. We have a couple of orginized rides, with one being going to the Dragon at Deals Gap, and the Cherahola Skyway, whick makes for an all day ride. There is a registration fee that includes a shirt and patch, and a catered meal on Saturday. We have a great time and make many new friends in doing so. If you want to see some pics of the previous ones click on this link VRPhotos and you will find many pics of previous events. Sleeperhawks Mechanic especially has many folders of pics there. Just lookl for Vogel or Tail of the Dragon, Sleeperhawks Tail of the Dragon, and you will find many. I havent made the formal announcement for next years Vogel/Tail of the Dragon yet, but it will be the 3rd weekend in August 2011.
