Glad you are ok. I watched that almost exact thing happen to a bike in front of me last week he took a ride through a parking lot, however he was not as smart as you he still thought there was nothing he could do different. Maybe I am paranoid every time I have a close call I always think what did I do wrong even if everyone tells I could not have done different. -
I have two identical 99's and both hit the fuel light at different ranges.

Shoot even the Hell's angles down here acknowledge me (maybe I just look old and harmless), must have just been that group. About the only riders that do not acknowledge me sometimes are sport bikes and still that is a rare.

Found out the same thing last year on the way to Blue ridge but I was already on reserve but I just knew I could go the 5 miles to the next gas station found out not up a steep hill. Luckily I coasted far enough to get over the crest or I would have been stuck between two hills.

I like everything about a Goldwing except what it does to my back. I do not know why but every GW I have ever tried has done a number on my back. The RSV fits me real well and I don't start hurting till about the 7 or 8 hour point on the RSV.

I think it is great that you have taken this on, so much that I have been thinking about doing it for SC.

Don't know if it is the longest but I found this: Kevin and Julia Sanders (Great Britain): KEVIN AND JULIA'S HOMEPAGE world circumnavigation on a motorcycle (19 days 8 hrs 25 min) trans-America ride on a motorcycle (Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina)

About 650 in 11 hours form Mo to Va on a 600 Radian when I was in my 20's, only stopped for gas. I bought a pickup in Va and hauled the bike back to MO.
