YSS Shock Replacement
etcswjoe replied to sadicarnot's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Klaus from EPM Performance is testing the YSS and Hyperpro shocks on a Venture right now and hopefully will hear what the outcome is in a couple of weeks. -
Looking for my cell phone yesterday and could not find it. Well I was unloading the dishwasher and guess what was in there? I have no clue how it got there but I thought of Eck right away and just had to share.

Are you taking over for Dan now?

One odd thing about Avon tires is they only put the pressure for max loads on their tires, I called Avon and went by this group so I run 42/48 myself and I get around 25K out of a Venom.

Carry a first Aid kit and don't trust PO mods.

Thats a good idea I never thought about that, I work with a volunteer fireman and EMS I will ask if they have any or where to get them. Found these online http://www.firstaidsigns.com/First-Aid-Signs/First-Aid-Kit-Inside-Sign/SAF-SKU-S-1780.aspx http://www.firstaidsigns.com/First-Aid-Kit-Label/First-Aid-Kit-Inside-Label/SKU-LB-1491.aspx -

We had dead squrill or rat or something clog a vent pipe once and caused the smell to back up into the house.

Good for you. I made up a bunch of the bussines cards but it seems like I never have them on me when I meet another Venture Owner.

Don’t' Trust PO mods Had a very interesting start to my day today, I did my normal routine checked tires, lights, etc fired the bike up and headed off to work. I was got about half a mile away and my bike just went dark and I could smell something burning scary thing at 55 miles an hour in heavy traffic. After sitting on the side of the road for a few minuets the bike came back to life and I was able to start it and get back home. When I got home I pulled the seat to find out the fuse block the PO but in had shorted against the frame and had melted the positive wire. After I finished removing the battery leads and made sure nothing was on fire I hopped on my other bike and headed to work. Firts Aid Kit You would think that this would have been enough for one day but no about half a mile from work I came upon a motorcyclist down he was scuffed up but nothing apparently serious. I stopped helped him out, did not have to use my first aid kit but I was sure glad I had it. Seems like a car ran him off the road and took off, I just could not believe nobody had stopped before I got there.

My problem is if I am at a PGR event that has a flag line I am in it.

They do have them for that every now and then. Go look at a hot rod or bike magazine and you will find one.

I may need a new real wheel
etcswjoe replied to etcswjoe's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You hit in on the head, the leak was at the very bottom of the valve stem and with the bike flat on the ground I could not see the bubbles so I jacked it up and soaped it down good and I could barley see bubbles coming out. I loosened the nuts and re tightened them a couple times till I got it to stop leaking. I will see how much air I have in the morning to see if it really worked. I should have replaced it when I had the tire off but since it is metal I did not. I think that since the rim was so corroded I jumped to conclusions it was worse than the front pictured. But I will tell you what a great group of folks we have on this forum, I got calls text and post offering parts and help no more than an hour after I posted. -
I may need a new real wheel
etcswjoe replied to etcswjoe's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I tried soaping it on the bike but that did not work too well, I will pull it off tonight. I put 48 punds in it last night and this morning it had 18 so it's going down pretty quick. I have not rode it since I discovered it going down. -
I found this old thread and looks like hopnel was bought out. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38706

I put a new rear tire on last week and found that the inside of the rim was coated with some sort of black stuff that had left corosion on the inside the rim so I cleaned the rim off with a brass brush and soap and water and there were some pretty good pits. Everything seemed ok after the tire was mounted but after the first ride it is leaking about 30 pounds a day. I am thinking maybe if I break the bead and reset it that may take care of the issue, I had thought about ride on but I was told it was no good for sealing around the rim. If this does not work does anyone have a spare rear wheel for a 2nd gen they would part with cheap?
