Wrecked my 83 venture
etcswjoe replied to brant1's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Glad you are still around and able to tell us about it. Hope and pray you have a speedy recovery. I have seen several 1st and 2nd Gen bobbers. http://images.mautofied.com/adphotos/10152511_2012617111645.jpg http://www.ratbike.org/photos3/y916_yamaha_venture.jpg -

Well I completed the adjustments on both bikes (thanks Earl aka Skydoc_17 for shim kit, tool and great price on gaskets). Both bikes had never been done and both had 40K on them one bike took four shims and the other eight. It sure made a big difference in the engine noise and a noticeable increase in performance. I followed the procedure in the tech library and picked Earl's brain some. The whole procedure took a whole day on the first bike and most of a day on the second the procedure it self was a snap however it requires a lot of patience and time. If anyone around me wants to do this I am more than willing to help now that I have done it, just get the stuff you need and give me a shout. By the way $12 saved me at least $400

Glad you stayed upright and are ok, we have lots of snapping turtles back home and altough I have never hit one on a bike a buddy of mine did and he said it felt like someone had put a roller skate under his front wheel luckily he was only going about 30 and did not go down.

Might be worth a couple hundred bucks to make sure they don't come back.

Delta Dust and Drione Dust using a Crusader Duster at the entrace hole should be able to get to them. Then spray a liguid pesticide to keep them away. DO NOT do any of this in the daytime dusk is best and don't get stung.

My wife and I were driving by our neighbor's house yesterday when she saw my neighbors 14 year old daughter climb out of the pool so she turned to me and said Jeff (my neighbor) needs to get a concealed weapons permit.
