Thanks for the welcome. Sorry for the way it started out.
Anyway, I just got a 1983 venture with 35,000 miles. Set in a barn for five years .bad brakes, leaking fork seals, non running engine, but I'm in love!
So far the I have installed a set of Vmax carbs, rejetted of course and it now purrs like a kitten. I installed new fork seals to stop the left fork from leaking. The rear/left front linked braking master cylinder was corroded to the point that it could not be salvaged. I removed the rear master cylinder and made a bracket to install a rear master cylinder off a 1992 Vmax. Now it only works the rear brake. used the rear Vmax brake line to connect the left front to the right front caliper. now the front hand brake operates both front calipers. Removed the anti dive actuators for the time being to ease the work load of the master cylinder for now. Rode it around the block for the first time today, 9/28/10.
I am a Vmax junkie. I have a 2003, 1997, and 1992 Vmax. I like to do long Iron butt rides and wanted something with a fairing and windshield. Nothing but a mighty yamaha V4 will do for me, so that is how I came to own the Venture.
