Rick Haywood replied to Freebird's topic in Watering Hole
It will be great to see you there.......................is that TDunc coming with you -
Orlin, I do not think Slim and I will be able to make it this year. With the daughters wedding the weekend before and us leaving on vacation the weekend after it may just be to much. We hate it because we have such a great time with you and Sharon and of course everyone else. If we can come up it would be just for Saturday so we will see. But the good News is we will be up Friday Memorial weekend for three days. See you all then. ps if you haven't been to Orlin and Sharon's maintenance day/weekend you do not know what you are missing. Great people, great riding, great B.S. around the fire and the best place for Pizza in Wisconsin.

I ordered mine on Thursday night and it arrived from California Tuesday Morning. The shock comes preloaded they way it should be for the weight you tell them and if you ride two up most the time. I weigh 250 and my shinny wife tips the scales at a whopping 118 pounds. The shock also can be adjusted for preload and dampening. They way they set mine so far is perfect. Took me about 45 minutes to change with the help of my wife's skinny hands helping to put the top bolt in. I'd call and talk to them and tell them how you ride and the weight the bike carries and they will fix you up. MikeAliasMike on the board bought one the sme time I did but he got the regular one and he loves it too.

I will get back with you next summer and let you know. We should have about 175,000 on the odometer by August of 2016. But I will agree it will be time to replace. not so much because it runs bad but because things wear out and I would be to the point of being a little apprehensive about really long trips away from home. (by long I mean 1500 miles not 500 miles)
-
Maybe I should restate how many miles I got out of the shock, I bought the bike with 16,000 mikes on it in August of 2010 and I assumed it still had the original shock. But if it had been replaced under warranty already then maybe all I got was 115,000 miles or so out of the shock that was on the bike. And as for the bike being wore out??? It seems to run and ride as good as the day I bought it. I have taken great care of the bike changing oil at 4,000 miles, running a little seafoam through the tank every month or so, wired all extras through a relay to avoid most electrical problems, Kept it clean and waxed. Other than that we just rode the hell out of it.
-
I thought about a new one to go on it and then next year when I buy another Venture with low miles switching them out putting thr nw after market on the new bike and the other oem on the old bike. Seems like a bunch of work. But then again I will keep the next venture till it is wore out sooooo what to do. Plus it only took us 4.5 years to put 115,000 moles on this bike
-
Well after 130,000 miles my original shock finally bit the dust. Hit a really rough RR crossing last weekend and that was it. So if anyone has one or sees one for sale please let me know. Thanks

If you had 1 week & $1000 in cash
Rick Haywood replied to midnightrider1300's topic in Watering Hole
Colorado. And by a week I'm thinking you mean a work week which actually gives you 9 days. I love riding in Colorado and southern utah. I would leave Friday around 5 pm and could be in rocky Mountain national park Saturday at supper time. That gives me 6 days to just rule around before heading home. -
Blue Goose Pizza, Now we have to come. German Pizza.......................the best.

Jay, we were lucky to grow up with the best music rock and roll had to offer. There is so much great music fro 1955-1980. I work part time security at a college campus and I was surprised how many young people listen to that era of music. I guess being force feed it growing up from your parents may have helped. I know our 22 year old daughter loves it is listens o it an a regular basis.
