WOW this brings back memories. We had a fireplace that was in a wall between the living room and dining room when I was a kid that we burned coal in to heat the house. Didn't have heat in the rest of the house but did have feather beds and quilts. We also cooked on an old cast iron coal stove in the kitchen and had a hand pump at the sink for cold water. Had to heat water on the coal stove if we wanted it warm. Man I miss eastern kentucky

I have a similar problem, everthing on mine works except the warning light. It will go to the 3rd odometer and track the miles on reserve but the light never comes on. -

Rick Haywood replied to Trevor Heath's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Trevor, You will find that you will want to join this forum. If for nothing else but the info. You will make friends for life with some on here and you will find when you have an issue with the bike someone will off to come over to your place and help. It will be the best $12.00 you ever spent. Also wanted to say you must have bought a great "88" if the onlu issue you have a question about is lights. Enjoy the bike it will run forever. Rick -

OK, I noticed today that my clutch started slipping , I have not had an issue with it since I changed the clutch spring and pressuere plate to a Barnett. I changed the oil yesterday and noticed the slipping today in 5th when I roll back on the throttle pretty hard. I use yamalube oil so that shouldn't have anything to do with it. The bike has 64,000 miles. Is it time to replace the clutch or could it be something else? I am going to go out and change the fluid now which I do not believe has anything to do with it but you never know. I changed it at around 46,000. Anyway do I need to just replace the friction plates or what do you all suggest. I ride 2 up most the time but am not a hard rider. I do pull a trailer 2-3 times a year on vacations for a week at a time. Thanks for your suggestions ps I ride around 32,000 miles a year and I have had the bike for 16 months

Did you move yours back? Do you ride 2 up and what did it do when moved back? Does the passenger have any issues with setting on the edge on the back of the seat

I ride about 35,000 miles a year with about 70% of that 2 up. My wife likes the bike. She is comfortable on it on long rides. We have done many 600 miles days and pretty much been all over the USA on it. One thing is if I try and ride out the tank of fuel everytime before I stop she will get a little uncomfortable by the end of the 3 rd tank, around 400 miles but if I stop every 100 miles or so we can go all day long. The most I have done on the RSV in a day was from Sarasota Florida to Marion, illinois. It was around 925 miles and I gotta tell ya I was wore out. My knees and hips hurt so I had to call it a day. I think you and the wife will love the Venture especially coming from another cruiser style bike

Well, I will tell you what I am done with IT

Help finding luggage rack washers
Rick Haywood replied to Sooner Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Get a set of these, they look good and they keep you from over tightening the nust a cracking the fiberglass. http://www.saber-cycle.com/store/product632.html -
Before you make to many modifications to the shifter and boards I would suggest getting used to the differt way the bike sits and rides. It is in no way going to feel the same as the 1st gen. When you get used to it you may decide you like it and the 1st gen will feel funny just like the 2nd gen does now. I rode a goldwing before I got my 2nd gen and fine that I can ride more miles on the venture than I could on the goldwing because of the way my legs set forward instead on straight down or a little backward like they dod on the wing. I also find that my tail bone doesn't hurt as much after 6 or 7 hundred miles. Enjoy the bikes.

On her trike the shifter was as it is on any bike, the most noticable change was the rear brake. It was on the handle bar just above ( I believe) the front brake. There also was some modifications done on the right side highway peg and such to acommidate her leg.

Randy, keep the faith brother. I went through the same things you are going through. Mine started in June of 2010. It started in my left eye and after going through 9 different procedures I got my sight back and then it started in my right. Just remember to do exactly as told after surgery so the retina will heal properly. The bubble is kind of weird in the eye but it does go away. Oh by the way after a total of 15 different procedures on both eyes combined including getting them cut open twice each and all the liquid removed I now have 20/20 vission for distance and 20/50 for reading. A pair of readers correct that. It can get discouraging but they can fix it if you do as told.
