It only cost me .40 cents to fix mine ( I had the silicone ) lol Seems to happen on the 99's It must be the speed just sucks the plugs right out of the block LOL
-
There are rubber plugs under the fake cylinder air fins. My 99 started to seap around them after a few years. What I did was to take the fins off and if you look on the back side you will see a smooth raised area that comes in contact with the plugs. My fix was to use silicone and attach a dime to the top of each one of these contact points. That held the plugs in tight and stoped my leak. Do not run the bike with the fin covers off or you will blow the plugs out of the heads. ( I guess this would happen ) I would never do such a thing. LOL Steve

The bike is still kinda in the Family. My friend Dennis has been looking for a Blackcherry bike and he is the one who got it. Now I'll have to get him to join the site. His 96 Royal Star looks like it belongs on a showroom floor. He takes great care of his ride. Some of the guys met him at the maint. day I had at my shop. Now we have someone else to go to Rallies. Anyone looking for a custom painted with everything Royal Star 96 let me know.

Dan Mine is also an 82 xj750 I have been playing with it for awhile but its done now and runs like a champ. Tomorrow will be a better day Hang in there. how I got the 82 Pic and the finished ride
-
Sorry to hear about your pileup. There isn't many things that make you feel so bad as to see your rides messed up. I see you have a 750 maxim ( I just finished rebuilding and painting a 82 xj750 ) sweet running bike. Tomorrow will be a better day. Steve

I would hold off on the front bag. A friend of mine did it on his 96 Royal Star and messed up the paint under the bag on the fender. Better to just keep them in a saddlebag.

Good time to buy a morgan Carbtune
SteveW replied to timgray's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I ordered one a week ago and recived it yesterday. I synced the carbs on my 1982 Yamaha xj750 that I have been working on the past few months. They were way out of sync and after setting them the bike really runs great. No more stumble and quick throttle responce. I'm very happy with the product and the quick shipping. -
I decided to get one last night. The price is right ( under a hundred bucks with shipping )and when we had the maint. day here it would have been nice to have one. I am just finishing up a referb on a 82 yamaha xj750 that could stand to have a carb sync done on it. Besides its always nice to have the right tool for the job. It made a big difference on my 2005 when it was done. The bike runs much better.

:cool10:Congrats on the trike conversion ,3 wheels are great 2 in back or 1 to the side. Its all good. Have fun with it and come on warm weather !!
-
It was alot of fun and the mess didn't amount to anything . LOL Glad to here you made it back Ok Terry. Just having a reason to clean up the shop was worth having the Maint. Day. Now I have a place to work on my new project . I picked up a 82 xj750 Yamaha that I have started to tear apart. I didn't want Bob to be the only one to field strip a bike. Looking forward to holding another meet here when the weather is warmer.

I had a full hip replacement done and 6 weeks later had the full knee replacement. The hip was a piece of cake. 2 weeks and I was driving a car and 3 weeks riding the bike. The knee took alittle longer about 6 weeks and it was fine. I have gotten back into bowling last month and have not had a problem with either one. Just do the PT and all the excerises they tell you to do and you will be fine. Good luck and don't let it get you down. Steve

-
Just have your Knee Replaced then get the hickups for 3 days and have a reaction to the pain meds they give you. I lost 33 lbs. in 2 weeks ( I'm doing really good at keeping it off also ) This is not a recomended way to loose weight !!

Congrats on the new addition !!!!! They are great !!!!!

The best gift was to have our Daughter and husband come up and visit and bring our grandaughter. She turned 1 on the 26th.

Hi Todd Hope you can make it. I don't mind anyone stoping by from this group anytime for a visit. My address is 31 Briarwood Dr. Cleveland Ga. 30528 for anyone that wants to punch it into their GPS. Pudycat03 Being your crash bar is attached to the lower fairing. I would loosen the guard from the fairing before trying to straighten it out so you don't crack the fairing. I'll pickup some 1 inch steel from a friend of mine if anyone wants to do the mod to the crash bars while they are here. All you will need to bring are 2 -1 inch clamps to go around the bars. ( I think they are 1 inch I'll have to recheck on the size )

It could be the O2 sensor. When mine went out on my Trooper it did the same thing. Good luck ( hope its a quick fix ) Hope you have a great Christmas and safe trip. -
