I have had a lot of different bikes over thr years. I traded my 1997 Yamaha tour deluxe for a 1996 Ultra Classic 8 years ago. I kept the HD fo 4 years. It was on the small side for my at 6ft 7 and felt a little cramped. I liked the way it handled and rode but I also spent more on the bike to keep it running then any other bike I have owned. with only 28K on it I had to rebuild the lower end , replace the clutch, replace the speedo cable and drive gear and a few other things. They are just not in my option a high mileage bike with out repairs. I did like the looks and the ride of it.

Hope it goes well for you in the chrome bizz. A good friend of mine set up a plating room 9 years ago and the cost is really high for setting up real plating. He was talked into using a environmentally friendly chrome. Not the acid chrome. However the product was not what it was built up to be. Not a durable finish. His copper and nickle tanks are fine but the chrome has been nothing but a disappointment. You kind of get what you pay for and for under 1000.00 doesn't sound like it will do a great job. He has well over 250 K in his equipment and it still doesn't come close to using Acid chrome. EPA also does inspections ( drop in any time ) I don't want to be a downer but try the small kit first and see how it turns out.

These came out in 1996 and I had a 1998. Mine and most I have seen had hard leather bags. I thought the last year for them was 1999. They are a nice riding bike with a lower seat height. They are a little doggy with the lower horse power. -

This might help The last time I replaced the plugs I took off the seat and rear tank bolt. Then loosened the front bolts and removed the right side bolt. You can then tip the tank up on that side to remove the dog bone and replace the plug. then repate on the left side. Did not have to remove the tank. Worked fine for me.

Best of luck with your surgery. Heal fast so you can ride in the spring.

my 99 did this when I had it and I glued a dime on the matching surface on the backside of the false fins. it added a little more pressure to the plugs and never leaked again. just my .40 cents worth.

I am running a 155/80r15 on the rear with my sidecar. Being the bike no longer leans I have not noticed any problems with using the car tire on turns. I have ridden the bike to south Fl. on the interstate at 80 plus with out any problems. I have 8K on it now and it still looks like new. The ride is smoother and the handling is better. There is plenty of clearance between the tire and the drive shaft. Some are using the 165/80r15 which is a little wider and taller. enjoy the ride !!

Hi Mike Sorry I missed getting a hold of you. Really didn't have much free time ( I had a few projects to get done ). Next time I'm headed down there I'll give you a shout. Thinking about a road trip with the hack in the spring down to see the kids.

We were down in Marco Island over Christmas and the weather was great for riding. Drove by Naples Harley a few times but didn't get a chance to stop in. They are nice people at that dealer. I got to ride my son-in-laws Honda 900 a little while I was there. I wish the weather was warmer here I'm dieing to get out some on the Bike. Steve
