  1. Do you know if you have a lowering kit installed on the rear end? a lowering kit will change the handling. My first 99 would wander a bit until I removed the lowering kit. Handle like a dream after going back to stock.
  2. your profile says you live in Troy. Is that troy NY? Where did you buy your 99? was it from a member?
  3. Bob, you may be right, Seems like I've seen this bike in an add on craigslist or here in a post. Can't remember, old age setting in.
  4. There was a mod done on the 99 trunks due to weak mounts . Had to add plates to the mounts due to cracking. Mine were cracked . Most 99s had this issue.
  5. Missing trunk and has been painted? accident? Did he say where the trunk is? Also what is he using for a radio antenna? I do like the color.
  6. I might know where they are:whistling:....but I ain't tellin:moon:
  7. Did u lose your panties again?
  8. Seems like we see more problems with the 07's then any other year. Maybe bad QA staff that year?
  9. Are you aware that this post is 5 years old? To answer your question, he installed the "I" basket. There is much more info on this subject here, just do a search for I basket.
  10. Rick, there's a 09 with 19000k for sale in or near Ithaca NY for $9500 or BO. Listed on craigslist.
  11. I would change out all the fluids. probably never been changed in 14 years. Brake, clutch, cooling, rear end. Also grease the rear hub pins and drive shaft. Lube the throttle cables and the shifter linkage and anything else that moves. Basically I would service everything. Then you know what you got.
  12. That's what happens when you mix alcohol with keyboards. drinking and typing don't mix.
  13. Robin says she wants to give you your Birthday wakes HAPPY B-DAY! Watch your back side when you visit next month.
  14. If you want to see the BongoBob saga continue, then come to the WNY rally next month. It is my understanding he will make and appearance there. And with any luck he may have his trike with him. Of course this is just a rumor at this time.
  15. The floorboards on the 2nd gen have removable rubber pads. I believe you can order them through Yamaha. If I remember right Several Star bikes use the same floorboards, so you should have no problem finding them.
  16. I can attest that BongoBob does own a trike....I seen it siting in his driveway at the 4th of July gathering....I got your back Bobby.
  17. NO, NO, not an antique.....A classic.
  18. We went to 3 wheels after I dropped the bike in the driveway and Robin fell off and broke a rib. Wasn't to crazy about it at first, but now we wouldn't have it any other way. We will ride until they have to lift our dead body's off the trike. Or until I can't remember how to start the thing. Which will probably come first.
  19. OK, after doing a internet search on the subject, I have found no info to support the idea that engine braking is detrimental to a motorcycle engine. On the contrary, it is highly recommended on all vehicle's except maybe 2 cycle engines, due to the engine using the fuel/oil mixture for lubrication. No fuel going in = no lubrication.
  20. You might want to contact Jonesy before you make up your mind. He built a tri-wing and rode it for several years. He can give you the pros and cons.
  21. I beg to differ. Engine braking does not do any damage to the engine. Ask any truck driver. It is always recommended to down shift and let the engine slow you down. It is also safer. Riding your brakes will heat them up and cause brake fade. Use your brakes as little possible to control your speed on your down hill ride, let the engine do the work.
  22. I have done both. I can speak from experience that three wheels are more stable and handles much better then a add on kit. Add on kits also eat up rear bike tires in a hurry. They also don't stop well in a panic stop. They will skid much further then a 3 wheel trike with full rear brakes. Been there, done that. Very scary! Feels like your on ice. However, you do have the security of not having to worry about laying down your bike. That's about the only plus for the add on kit. But if you can't afford a real trike, and you want to continue riding, then its really the only alternative. Whatever it takes to keep the wind in your face.
  23. Looks good. now you need to but something on it and ride.
