  1. Tank over flow. I did the same thing last year. Topped off the tank as full as I could to store it for the winter, sometime later that month after a couple of warm days, the gas expanded and ended up with a puddle under the bike. same place as yours.
  2. Same here, can't make it that week. Maybe next year:depressed:
  3. No rooms available at Oberlin inn for that weekend! Where did everyone stay last year?
  4. The 11th is real good for use. About time someone scheduled an event around my days off from work. I will only have to take 3 days vacation to get 7 days off.
  5. Joe, take your meds, it will come back to you.
  6. A couple over on Trike Talk made a day by day video of there ride to the artic circle via Alaska on a Harley Tri-glide. They started there trip in Miss. Great Video, they go by the name DK Customs.
  7. Same here. He's just another Hollywood know it all that doesn't have a clue what the real world is like. most of them live under a rock.
  8. About 3500. 2100 on one ride through Ontario CN. and Michigan, the rest local riding.
  9. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year back at you...But you know you can post here in VR more then just Christmas and the WNY rally. People here are going to think you don't like some of us.
  10. Yep, went out on the deck to check it out, the sky was crystal clear and what did we behold, but a tiny sleigh with 9 tiny rain deer.... ok,ok...it was just a jet liner with flashing lights, but the con trail looked just like the golden tail you see in all the Xmas tv shows and movies. The moon was in just the right position to make the con trail shine a golden red.
  11. We also went out for a couple of hours ride. delivered Christmas presents to a couple of my fellow employees at Lowe's. almost hit 70 here in up state ny.
  12. The fins are held on with a couple of Allen head screws. Remove the screws and the fins will come right off. Each cylinder has what looks like a small plug with a treaded hole in the middle of it. the threaded hole is there so you can thread a screw into it to pull the plug out. But don't do that unless you have new plugs to replace them. If they are leaking you will see coolant seeping out around the plugs. the quick fix is to glue a dime over the plugs and replace the covers. the covers will hold the dime in place and put pressure on the plug causing it to expand and re seal it self.
  13. I believe all of the heat shields are welded to the exhaust pipes. Your going to have to remove the exhaust and have it welded. Never heard of one braking the weld before. The exhaust pipes are in three sections, the front pipe, the Y pipe on the rear cylinder and the muffler. If you go to the tech section you can pull up a diagram of the exhaust system.
  14. Let us Know what dates you will be traveling. When you come through Watkins Glen Maybe we can hook up, we live 25 miles north in Romulus NY.
  15. On your return trip, you may want to come down through Mass. and Conn. back into NY. around Newburg and take in OCC. then head west and south back into north east Pa. Run down to Hersey, then Gettysburg.
  16. Ok, where to start? First off as Bostonlawman said, Mt Washington in NH. is a must! Scared the crap out of me when we rode it last summer. Its a shorter version of the million $$ road. Maybe a little more intense. Now for a great route for you to ride. If your coming out of KY. ride north through WV. to PA. take the 219 north to the 6 east two great roads in PA. Make sure you stop at the Grand Canyon of PA. just outside of Wellsboro. From there ride east to the 15 north, take that to the 17 east to the 414 north in corning NY. If you have time check out down town Corning. A lot of old town shops including a old style Ice cream parlor. Ok, as I was saying, head north on the 414 to Watkins Glen, another nice little town. They have a gorge walk there that is really cool. From there continue on north on the 414 up along the east side of Seneca Lake. great views all along the way, not to mention a couple of dozen Wineries and a couple of distilleries and breweries. When you get to Ovid NY. your going to need to take a couple of county/town roads to get over to the 89 north. This will take you up along the Cayuga lake to Seneca Falls, birth place of Woman's rights and the town that the movie " its a wonderful life" was modeled after. From here you should take the 20 east to Sangerfield, where you will pick up the 12 north up through Utica, continue north up into the Adirondacks. You will be on the 12/28. This will take you to Old Forge. From there continue on to Blue mountain lake to the 30 north to tupper lake, where you will pick up the 3 to Saranac Lake. from there take the 86 to Lake Placid. Feel free to stop at any or all of these great small villages and towns to soak in the local culture. From Lake Placid I recommend you make your way over to Lake Champlain and take one of the ferry's across to Vermont. From here your on your own. I got you through my back yard, you can take it from there. No matter where you head in VT. and NH. if you stay to the state and county roads you can't go wrong. I'm sure someone will take it from here. Don't forget Mt Washington in NH. and if you can make it over to Bar Harbor MA. that is also a must see. good luck. p.s. Don't forget Ben and Jerry's in VT.
  17. Also got in a short ride yesterday. We only rode about 60 miles, but this is the first time we have ever ridden in December. usually buried in snow this time of year here in central NY.
  18. Someone said it would be nice if more people would post about there travel experience's with pictures and videos. This is something they do over on triketalk. They have what they call "Trike travel" forum. It gets a lot of followers and some of the travel stories can go on for weeks with daily reports with pictures and videos. Maybe you could add this to the site. I have followed several adventures posted there, some are so well put together its like riding along on the ride with them... Just a thought.
  19. What you started so many years ago, was a site for people to come together to talk about the Yamaha Venture. What you have now after all these years is a place where family comes together. Everyone agrees, that you don't need to make any major changes. I say leave it as it is for now and see where it goes. Maybe Yamaha will get their head out of there butt and come out with a 3rd gen.
  20. Oh heck Cowpuc, an HD tech talk wouldn't take much. Just two sentences..... Wipe up oil on garage floor after each ride and collect parts that fell off, from all your rsv friends that followed you home to make sure you made it back.
  21. Your showing your age Tooch. We haven't used phones for talking for many years now.
  22. This is the most common complaint about the RSV. It is the straight cut gears on the clutch basket. most RSV have this problem, some way worst then others. Most commonly know as clutch whine. You can change out the clutch basket to the "I" basket and hope it corrects the problem. I believe Yamaha will change it out under warranty. Or do what most of us do and turn up the radio.
  23. Robin says her check was late last month. She wants to know wants up with that?
  24. And the lawn that still needs to be mowed.
