Pull your tank off and check the connector plug for the ignition switch. It's the one with 2 wires, main power lines to the switch. I had the same problem and found this connector was burned corroded.

I'd be shakin in my boots. Your lucky you still alive. What kind of scoots are they?

Leo, without going into a long explanation, put the petcock in OFF, pull the hose off, switch to reserve and drain the water that is in the bottom of your tank into a clear jar. Trust me I have had the same problem. Over time water will collect in the bottom of the tank.

Dan, I have the straight axle motor trike on the rsv, my only issue is rough roads, which is just about all the roads in the north east. Those darn bumps that come from the winter freeze causing the asphalt to heave up can darn near launch you off the bike and raddle your spin. It does have adjustable air bags in the rear end and can be adjusted for weight and handling. With that being said, if I ever buy another trike it would be a irs system. Our backs cant take much more of our wonderful roads.

The new tri-glides are much better then a couple years ago. He should talk to the folks on triketalk.com that own HD's. TT is just like VR, a bunch of great folks that like to give their 2 cents. and much more.

You said you where running 4-5 hours straight. I'm assuming your trike has an aux fuel tank? I can't run more the 130 miles without stopping to fill up. Is it possible you lost fuel feed from the tank you where pulling from? Or do you have the set up where you have to transfer from the aux tank to the main? Maybe the problem is with your duel fuel system?

Lets see... left home this morning at 9am to meet friends for lunch about 45 miles away and just got home at 6:30pm. Not the first time or the last time. Once it took us all day to go to the store 8 miles away. Guess we get lost a lot.

Welcome aboard. It is really nice to see some new blood getting involved. Next thing you know you will be showing up at some of our rides/rallies. Like BongoBob said, their are a lot of member who live in Ontario and they love to ride and are always available to help in anyway. If you ride south of the boarder don't be a stranger, give us a call or drop a line, we're a pretty friendly bunch.

Themes are a lot of fun, but not many people participate. So maybe we should keep it simple next year and not have a theme. Most everyone is happy just being there and getting together with fellow members.

It is not the people who put this rally together that make it a success, it is all the great folks that come out to enjoy what we worked so hard to put together. With out you their is no Rally. Ok, I went back and read it again and he shows pictures of 610's not 612, and I had a 612 on the bike, so that means the 612, old or new will work.

Du-Ron did say the convex filter did not fit, but that is what was on my bike.

Time to open this can of worms! I've been following this post all week and thinking its time to change the oil in the trike. So since its raining buckets today and the wife is out getting her nails done, this would be a good time to do the oil change. So here it is.... I pulled the old oil filter off the bike (99 rsv) and what do I see but a purolator L14612 with convex'ed threads not concave'ed. So this kind of throws a monkey wrench in the theory that the new L14612 purolator filter will not seal and will leak oil. I had no problems with this filter for the last 3000 miles. Oh, I did replace it with the larger pl14459. fits fine and no leaks. It does take a little more oil to fill it, and its a little tight to get the filter wrench on it, but the strap wrench works fine. Can't wait to see where this goes.

FYI, see that round cylinder looking thing to the left of the nut, there is a spring and tinny ball bearing in there. the ball ride on the plate below it that has 3 notches in it. That give you your 3 positions for your choke. Closed, mid, open. Don't ever take that apart, it's a ***** trying to find that itty bitty ball on the garage floor.

Do not tighten the 4 screws that are circle in blue! they hold the slides that link all 4 chokes together. If you tighten one to much you will bend one or both of those slide bars. I found this out the hard way. The adjustment to tighten the choke is just behind the knob. It's been a long time since I adjusted mine, but I believe all you have to do is tighten the pivot point nut, that's the one with the bent washer locking it in position.

Good video, but it doesn't show anything about how to install all the hardware. Or how to set the preload and tracking.

I had one on my first 99. Its not to hard to hook up but does take some time to get the right set up for ride and stability. If we lived closer I would come over and help you set it up.
