  1. I look at the new member welcome page and see hundreds of new people being welcomed by Freebird but see very little activity from our new friends. We old timers would like to get to know you and maybe meet up with you at one of our rally's or a meet and eat. Don't be shy, we are a very friendly bunch of misfits who like to ride and eat, or is it eat and ride? anyhow I am personally inviting every one of you to join us at the Northeastern western NY rally august 17-20th. Just go to the calendar at the top of the page and sign up. For info about the rally check it out on the events forum. Hope to see a bunch of new face's there this year. The old ones are getting boring to look at. If you can't make the NY rally Maybe you can make one of the other events. ps. The NY rally has a live band. Oh and Big Tom will be there.
  2. Good point Tooch....Its not just patriotic for the U.S. So I say to everyone, where ever you call home, wear your colors and show your pride!
  3. Some years back, I was looking at a Pontiac Grand Am for my son, looking under the hood I ask where are the spark plugs on this thing? It had one of those plastic engine covers over the top of the engine and you couldn't see much. The young man said " these new model cars don't have spark plugs, it's all electronic":bang head:
  4. Wonder if its liquid cooled:confused24:
  5. I don't think any company that wants to make $$$ would do something that dumb. They are in it for the long run, so they better have one hell of a bike or take a bill loss.
  6. The rep I talked to said the vent system is designed to direct max amount of air around the engine for max cooling at cruising speed. the vent system is also designed to vent that heat away from the riders. The rider can control the system to direct the heat to the rides in cool/cold riding conditions and away form them in hot conditions. They also said they did extensive heat testing and the results are no more heat on the riders then a liquid cooled bike. Only test rides and time will tell.
  7. The pictures do not do this bike justice, it is much nicer in person. The camera adds 100lbs. It really does look better up close and personal. The trunk is "HUGH" you could hide a body in it. Lots of storage space, the saddle bags are good size and some storage in the upper and lower fairings. for those who are wondering, it does have a heel toe shifter.
  8. The reps at Americade said pretty much the same thing, a big v4 would be to top heavy. Yamaha was going for handling, so they keep the center of gravity low to give the bike great handling. Time and test rides will tell. I have to say when I set on it and pulled it up off the kick stand it felt rather lite and manageable under me. A lot better then the 2nd gen. I have a 30" inseam and my legs were bent and flat footed. Much better then the 2nd gen.
  9. I was wondering the same thing, so I checked it out in person and it appears to be just plastic trim. I tried to ask a rep but they were so busy I didn't get the chance.

I see by the fender bra that it is a motortrike, you will need pull the drive shaft and grease the splines, use Honda molly lube for that. You will also need to lube all the heim joints on the suspension, use dry silicon on them. Check the air bags and air lines for leaks. The bags maybe dry rotted. Good luck, enjoy.
  11. Those were the days.
  12. Makes you the same as me... Oldest born in 76 and youngest 78:doh:

    Barn find

I would pull air filters and check for critter nests also check the exhaust pipes for critters. Check as much of the wiring for critter damage. Little buggers get into everything.
  14. I did say "most of us" And I meant it in a funny...ha ha kind of way. Did not mean to offend.
  15. I,m confused, I've been following all the wish lists and pre-gen3 posts over the last several years here on VR and other then no v4 and shaft drive this bike has everything we all wished for. It has all the whistles and bells, improved handling, 6 speeds, new styling, comfy as all hell, reverse ect.ect.....so what did you expect, wings and a jet pack? This bike is about as updated as any on the road. has everything and more then most bikes. Seems the 1st and 2nd genners just wanted an updated version of what you all ready have. Our bike's are antiques, and so are most of us. Yamaha needs to sell bikes and we are not the market they are shooting for. So what's the problem? Seems we got most of what we asked for, minus the v4 and drive shaft. I like it. Can't wait till the trike the first one. Should be bad ass.
  16. Thank god, I thought Yamaha shut us down due to all the bad press we giving their new bike.
  17. Ventureriders live on! A little disappointed with the air cooled v twin.

Heck he could have stayed at our place for the night. Where the heck was my head? Sorry Puc. Next time you come through this area you let me know, we'll leave the light on.
  23. Nope, not the wrong date. Un veiling is tonight at 6pm according to the Americade sit.
