I was kinda offended.....until I read the above :stickpoke:and gave some thought. The ole girl looks a little heavy....like my RSV!! And with 4 feet....maybe she wouldn't fall over as easy? and would be much easier to control when parking in a grassy field. One might enjoy the added traction. No one knows for sure...how well ya could "Milk the Miles" Gas verses Grass.......She could fill-up while U rest----more ice cream with saved money! She really don't look that uncomfortable ? If the ole heifer is really fast.....think about the road conditions that could be left for all those "non hillbillies":whistling: Without futher thought......"I sorta like her":clap2: Is she available in "BLUE" like my RSV ? If so...chances are most "non hillbillies" would never notice:whistling:

James thanks for clearing up the "Roads No Secret", maybe I can get out of my corner now ? Get Skid with his Banjo..what do you think Dan ? I kinda think James ......just might have a Plan! Honestly....I'd rather Pick and Grin than lay blocks....anytime!!
-
Sorry Dan....I was just thinking about the work.
-
Dan: I've an idea!! Lets invite James, Gary and all others that have offered help and advice on this thread to meet at "TUDORS BISCUIT" in Clay for breakfast... followed with a ride from Clay to Birch River on CR-11 "Devils Backbone" I think. Just for a little surprise.....when we get to CR-46 we'll make a left and go about 4 miles, talk about the rest of the ride while squaring and doing "Block Work". You know everyone will be excited after the first section of CR-11 and will really want to "Get Er Done" so the ride can be completed.... What do you think? Sure hope you didn't want to keep Devils Backbone a secret!! Oh well....its not the first time that I stubbed my toe. Freddie

"I KNOW"----On my 07 RSV I have Dunlop E-3s----- and one good look at the clearance between the tire and driveshaft tube let me know I don't want wider!!!

Rick: "WELCOME to WV" You picked a great area IMHO. Two state parks in the valley with miles of great rides! From Canaan Valley north on rt 32 thru Davis to rt 93 (as Calhoun posted) take rt 93 thru Mt Storm to rt 42 @ Scherr rt 42 thru Maysville to Petersburg then rt 220 thru Franklin (good food @ Thompsons) to Monterey VA. Take rt 250 to rt 28 (near Bartow) to Seneca Rocks then rt33 to Harman and rt 32 back to Canaan. When you are in Monterey VA, if you feel the day has just begun.........continue on rt 220 to rt 39 (Warm Springs VA) take rt 39 thru Marlinton to rt 150 (Scenic Highway & GREAT RIDE) to rt 219 north thru Elkins thru Parsons to Thomas then rt 32 thru Davis to Canaan. The above is some of the best in the area IMHO. If you need more........ PM or my number is in my profile. May be in the valley some of the weekend myself ?.....not sure yet. Jackson Jubilee is in Weston this weekend....on the web....if interested? Snowshoe is near Marlinton also. Good food @ Amelia's on Cortland Road in the valley:thumbsup: Freddie

Sleeperhawk, I never had a Clearview tinted on my RSV but have run a Show Chrome tinted as well as the stock shield, the night time glare from on coming vehicles is much less a problem with the F-4 than the other two shields that I have used. The F-4 is a breeze to clean and with on coming headlights/sunshine there is no swirl/cleaning scratches that somehow seems to be on most other shields. I only have 6000 miles on with the F-4 but would not hesitate to buy another one, if I needed a shield. The buffeting with the wide F-4 is nearly gone, but like I said in an earlier post, running 65+ MPH the gas mileage will go down a couple MPG, butttt it's just kids inheritance!!

Thanks Fuzzy, I sorta thought it might be some kind of a gizmo to counter "Road Rage", which I suppose it is. Playing "Bluegrass" loud and clear would calm about any irate or angry person! Freddie
-
Fuzzy, The Road Rage Box, Kinda think we might need one of those.............WHAT IS IT???? Freddie
-
I totally agree, the F-4 is glare free, much easier to clean and sheds water like a duck's tail. I'm sure the F-4 costs 3 to 4 miles per gallon at speeds of 65+, but what the heck----it's the girls inheritance I'm spending. Has anyone made a screen for the vent?? I have looked for a stainless mesh but have not been sucessful. The bees somehow make it through the vent without losing their ability to say thanks----when they stop on the face or neck. Tom, I'm sure you will love the F-4:thumbsup: Freddie

I totally agree!! I had a set of these that were used on another bike when I bought the Venture. I temporarily used them (I thought) on the Venture while the Kuryakyn Longhorns were being shipped. After adjusting the "new" longhorns a dozen times trying to fnd the comfort zone----I decided "Purty" is not always comfortable. The J C Whitney boards are back on to stay! I did change the clamp that mounts the boards to the engine guard because there was no clearance between the big clamp that came with the boards and the lower flaring. Freddie

checking the fork air

Man of Steel, If and when you find the "Air Balance Kit" a post of the vendor and P/N would sure be appreciated. I have checked and found the kit listed on a number of motorcycle sites, J P Cycles, Dennis Kirk, Autopartsdealer.com and etc., it seems the kit is discontinued. The kit would make the balance problem "history" -
Carb Synch Cold Hot Weather...
pickinfred replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Seaking, Could the thumping be the result of the Plug Cap? I experencied pretty much the same, see thread http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=591189#post591189 -
The Problem... My 07 RSV ran good (not great) most days, until a 100 to 150 mile break/rest, after the 15 to 30 min. break the bike seemed sluggish and sometimes similar to a dead cylinder. Sometimes if the ride was early morning, a damp day or late evening, the problem seemed to self heal. Having a somewhat mechanical background and reading all the posts, I flushed the carbs, did Sea Foam and a carb sync, but the problem remained the same and seemed linked to heat and humidity. The problem was very similar to a coil breaking down and I almost stopped by the dealer to purchase a coil. I did a search on coils and found the post by V 7 Goose listed below. http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41216&highlight=coil Following "Gooses" instructions I found #3 cylinder plug cap with a resistance of 13k and the brass disc being black (not green or corroded) with the spring shinny as new, # 1,2 and 4 cylinder caps were like new. I cleaned the black disc and applied Di -Electric Grease to all contact areas of springs, discs, resistors and screws of all 4 caps. All had a resistance of 8-9k after cleaning and grease. 400 Miles later.........Again...."Thanks Goose" "The problem Is Gone" "The Bike Is Like New" "Great site with knowledgeable members " $12.00 per year..........How much for a coil??????

Centre Stand for RSV
pickinfred replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
We never know where or when we may need the bike to be lifted for emergency repairs, flat tires or any other reasons. Knowing most owners of Bikes and ATVs have a lift jack similar to the Harbor Freight that I have, I wanted to fabricate a bracket that would bolt on the bike and allow a HF jack to be used for maintance, oil changes and etc. I used 2 pieces of 1 1/2" angle 1/8" thickness and 23" long for the sides, and a 11" piece of the same size angle for the rear, welded the angles, drilled the holes for mounting bolts and bolted to my bike as shown in the pictures. I did a cut on the stand side of the bracket to accommodate the sidestand and spring, then welded square stock below the cutout for strength. I normally put my bike on the jack after every ride, which allows me to check oil level, rotate /check tires, bearings and do a quick "underside look" as well as make cleaning the bike while sitting on "the stool" much easier, before the next ride. Hope the pictures help. -
"Food for Thought" DarrinGT, A narration of the above, with a recording of "Country Roads" being softly played by Freebird as background music, would be "winner" in this neck of the woods!!
