Rick, Before you follow any of the "freely given advise", I ask one small favor. Would you please, yes please, refrain from major decisions until at least mid April? It would be terrible to get up early, click on this site, knowing there was no chance of "new drama". After April the weather in this area allows some great riding, so no "new drama" could be handled much easier then......But We Have Snow Now! Some try to make you believe, "you were born yesterday" May be sooo.....................but it wasn't, "late last night".

RSV Front Lowering...HELP!!
pickinfred replied to pickinfred's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Kent and Walter....."Thanks"...I owe you! I have a bike jack, lifting eye in the ceiling, tools and extra hands if needed. I was hoping that someone who has done the mod. would be able to recommend a riser that would allow the forks to protude the 1" above the top of the triple tree without damage to the wiring, brake lines and etc., and also avoid the risers from contacting the switch cover as Walter stated. I was pretty sure some type of riser was needed, if all RSVs are the same....."lets hope they are". I was going to include these two pics yesterday, but wasn't smart enough. With grandson by my side, hopefully they make it today......"close clearance" .... Freddie -
I'm going to lower the front of my 07 RSV. I have read...I think .....all/most of the posts on this mod., but have not found the answer to a couple of questions. With the small clearance between the top of the fork and the wiring/cables that are attached to the handlebars..(1/2"-3/4") Just don't seem wise to move the wiring and cable mounting. (1) Do I need to buy the 1 1/2" Baron Handlebar Risers?....If yes.... (2) Will there be clearance problems between the risers and the inner flairing? Looks pretty close. Thanks in advance for all the help...."GREAT GROUP" Freddie

I believe, I would invest in a "silent dog whistle" and repeatedly waste a little gasoline in the quiet car/truck. Nothing better than keeping good neighbors good... and sign makers wondering, "whats setting OLE Sport To Barking This Time"

I'm making plans for some mods and/or upgrades this winter....auxiliary power, rear lights and etc.... I have read many valuable posts, made notes, saved pictures and etc. I extremely value and analyze the opinions of those that have "been there and done that"....this site has some very intelligent and sharing members....Thanks. Having and maintaining the proper air pressure in the front shocks is paramount for the RSV to handle consistently... in my opinion. The air volume in the front shocks, being so small, I drop the compressor tank pressure to 6psi, check and recheck, then air my front shocks.....very time consuming, but the most accurate way that I know. I did many searches, but have not found the answer to my "BRAINSTORM" sooo "HELP". I plan to use a quality 1/8 or 3/16 air line and fittings to tee and join the front shocks together, run the air line back to a saddlebag, where I will have the Progressive Pump and Pressure Gauge.......Will I need to use check valves to avoid issues in a curve...with the shocks teed together ??? I'm sitting...sooo.. YOUR OPINION ?? Thanks in advance:thumbsup2: Freddie

It's a warm 72 degrees while I watch the video, but 3 times while the camera was going from one side to the other of the tower, seemed like I setting on a block of "ICE":snow2: Money is a good thing to have, but not that good.

06 FLHT exhaust??
pickinfred replied to jeffo's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
On a past thread, someone said "If the number on the mufflers end with 95, 95A or 98, 98A the mufflers didn't have converters. Was true for my set ending with 98A. -
You will need a Jacket and Chaps at the higher elevations. The temp here in the lower western WV today was 83, which means at Snowshoe, Spruce Knob, Davis and etc. probably didn't reach 70? Some of my favorite rides are Rt 33 from Brandywine west to Elkins. If in the area of Riverton, ride to Spruce Knob and back. ( Highest point in WV) Any ride in the area of Davis, Parsons, Petersburg, Cass, Marlington (esp Rt 150, Highland Scenic Highway) Rt 250 from Monterey VA to Elkins, Rt 220 from Franklin to Romney, Rt 4 from Clendenin through Sutton and many, many more great rides. Playing Bluegrass Music in the Franklin area this weekend, so I won't be riding much, Check out the Treasure Mountain Festival if in the area of Franklin on 18th,19th. Ride safe and enjoy WV!!!

Yes could have been me:confused07:. Blue and black RSV left Front Royal @ 8am, ate in Luray @ 2 , checked in Waynesboro Quality Inn @ 8 and PIGGED OUT @ Golden Corral and I mean ate until it hurt.( the SEE food diet ) I remember a RSV after late lunch and tried channel 29 ( I read in a post ) but got no response. Would have been great to met and done a break with you on, yes a perfect day/ride. I was riding lead in a 6 mixed bike group, if that helps?? Maybe next ride ? Freddie

Did the Skyline Drive this weekend, seen 2 RSVs on the mountain and one RSTD in Waynesboro. none were on channel 29. May have passed many??? The Scenery and Temp. made it very easy to pass a Venture blending in with all other bikes, simply "GORGEOUS". May well have been the best 3 day ride this year, sooo furrr!!!

After considering a smaller front tire and front shock mod, I also made and installed a set of leveling links as per Freebirds' instructions. The time involved was aprox. an hour, so if they didn't work, no big loss. I knew I could change back to factory links in 15 minutes. BUTTTT the factory links will be used for paper weights until I need warranty work done. While riding the last two weekends enjoying the 75% improvement in slow speed handling as well as being more stable in curves, I interrupted the riding fun long enough to think about how many sets of links I would have made by trial and error before (if ever) I would have made a set that delivers this handling and ride. Also how some make such a big deal with $12.00 per year membership. Even without the enjoyment of all the posts I read daily, or any future mod. that I may do, "WHAT A DEAL". "FREEBIRD THANKS".

After taking a stroll down memory lane, I'd almost bet this ride wouldn't require a "Fuel Stop".
-
of advice thats worth mega $$$$$$ in safety. If in doubt just ride lead and have a fellow rider with passing lights thats riding behind you give you the on/off comparison.

Was in the Davis area over the weekend also. Great to hear that you enjoyed WV, we love it. One of my favorite rides in that area is :Fom Davis Rt 32 to R 33@ Harman, Rt33 east to Rt 28 @ Seneca Rocks, Rt 28 to Rt 42 @ Petersburg, Rt 42 to Rt 93 @ Bismarck and Rt 93 west back to Davis. Sure hope you did this ride and enjoyed it. ( I always do). Many riders consider the ride from Scherr up the mountain to Rt 93 WVs " Little tail of the dragon". Not as long or as many curves but fun !!! The number of bikes @ Timberline ? WEEHOOO:think:

Some great things about the Victory Vision are the fuel injected power, skateboard floorboards, 6 speed tranny, tach, heated grips and the power windshield for sure. But before you count the $$$$$$ be sure to check the tranny noise after it's warmed up,in netural with clutch lever released and running, then think about a ride to Cody WY. Mix that tranny noise with the drive belt and suddenly the basket whine on the RSV isn't really all that bad?

Some new thoughts on clutch basket whine
pickinfred replied to straycatt's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thinking about this post this weekend while riding WV VA MD areas for about 680 miles. The whine on my 07 RSV was somewhat annoying. I did however notice the whine was 75% gone by placing my legs snug to the fuel tank. There must be a bouncing, echoing effect of the windshield and flairing of some type going on to amplify the actual whine??? Also the Bluegrass Music and Scenery made the other 25% seem so small, I'm looking forward to being punished again....so RSV deliver!! and:big-grin-emoticon: -
Grandsons, Motorcycles, Bluegrass Music and/or Photography always seem to help the coffee get me up and going. Thanks for the boost today. GREAT JOB!!!

I think most of the cars in the quiz, have never been through WV and I don't pay much attention while out of state. Surely I'm better than 22/35 (Yes second try)
