Works fine here (in WI) too....... ON Firefox 3.6.15, no less!

Here's another trick, and although it sounds booOooOooOooOooOoogus...... it DOES work. Once you're confident you've got er bled out pretty good, take and firmly apply the lever (not sure how you'd do this with the rear pedal, although I suppose it's possible) and ziptie or ropetie it in the heavily applied position for at least overnight or preferably a 24 hour period. Periodically take a large screwcriver or hammer handle or something that you can repeatedly taptaptap the brake lines with to jostle/jar them. The theory here is that when you pressurize the line, any microscopic air bubbles in the fluid will tend to congregate together to form larger bubbles. The tapping of the lines is claimed to help the larger bubbles rise toward the reservoir where they won't do any harm. I did this on my Vulcan and dramatically improved the lever feel- it was night and day difference. Then I did it on the Venture and slightly improved it too. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. Give er a shot. Anybody else heard of this?

Wanna know what really makes brake bleeding a snap/quick work? An electric vacuum pump. 10 seconds on each bleeder and you're done.

I like how the passenger in that same photo didn't take the time to fold down the footrest/floorboard. (Unless I'm totally mistaken?)

Hey whaddya talkin?!?!? Snow IS a blessing. Just gotta have the other style of Venture (snowbound) that Yamaha makes. Or something relatively equivalent.

Hmm..... Seattle..... rain..... who'da thunk it?

Haha- that was just a paraphrasing of FLB.

Got a route/destination in mind? Door county was fabulous when Nuggie and I rode up (not sure when that was).

Perhaps a total uninstall / reinstall of Firefox is in order. It's a pain in the rump (export your bookmarks to desktop first!) but sometimes it's the only way to get something reset. I've had to do it once or twice myself.

I started out with a 5hp 26gal CampbellHausfeld (diaphragm/oilless type) compressor. Noisy but was better than nothing. Then I found a 40ish? gallon 2stage triple cylinder that was kinda roughed up so I gave it a thorough going over and then parted it out. The (Speedaire) pump alone would have been about 900 to replace with an equivalent new model. I got back the roughly 350 or so I had into that one. Then I got smart and went to Lowe's and talked em into a 10% discount of a floor/display model of one of their Kobalt 60gal uprights (240v twin cyl single stage, but 11.4CFM) for a very reasonable price of 389 pretax. It's what I should have gotten all those years ago to start with. Do yourself a favor- if you use air at all get something that's capable of keeping up with your tooling or applications at least to some degree. Those measly 4-5-6 CFM units just don't hack it, and they aren't that much cheaper than a biggie. An air compressor is one of the home handyfeller's single most indispensable tools- invaluable!

That would seem to suggest your cookies are being auto deleted. As for Rick, are you using any extra security measures or addons like Adblock Plus? Your situation is strange indeed.

I've gone a step further in reducing costs. I'll print the appropriate parts page from boats.net and ask the local Yammi stealer if they'll match the indicated web price, which they so far have honored several times for me. Just a few weeks ago I scored what would ordinarily be an $87 speed sensor from Yam for $64.xx using boats.net's pricing. It's not like Yamaha isn't making any profits the way they price this stuff. At least this little trick brings it from absolutely insane/ludicrous down to stupid. Plus, there's no shipping cost that way.

Hello, Little help needed with my 83
Keemez replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I also find that the tech library ( http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=13 ) has a lot of good and preliminary information about several of the very common issues/quirks/questions. It's a good place to start before delving into the multipage threads dealing with a specific topic.- 47 replies

Would the pot be sweeter if I mentioned a 10ish by 26ish foot garage, complete with 3 @ 8' and 1 @ 4' fluorescent lighting, 60gal air compressor, and plenty of standard tools @ the ready?
-
Purr on up to Appleton when you've got that tool finished off and perfected- I'll help with yours if you help with mine.
-
I just scored a 10pak of these (ebay) for 58.55 including shipping. 5.86 ea isn't too bad. I'd have to really come across a good deal on Purolator Pure1 (my preferred model) filters to get me to part with $60 for the spin on adapter thing. Might as well just stick with stock. Anybody wanna buy an HF146 or two from me?

There's just one little problem with that page. Actually there may be more- I stopped reading when I discovered the incorrect info below. It says: "The following are example sentences to differentiate between the noun and verb form in the UK usage. This shop is licensed to sell diamonds. Here the word licensed is being used as a verb. John showed me his driving licence. Here the word licence is used as a noun." Wrong. The verb in that sentence is simply "is". "Licensed" is the object of the verb "is". Man... don't people know they're grammer anymore? hah- get it?

What is this part in my oil pan?

JB Weld it back on! -
Hmm. Well, that would tend to suggest that the wheel photos in the (93) owner manual are an 89 model then, which supports my cross-applicable theory from earlier. Interesting- you'd think they'd make just one or mmmmmaybe two colors for the sake of simplicity. For those of you who've opted to do powder coat, how much did that process run you and how well has it held up to road debris, brake dust, etc?
-
Alright, here's the next challenge then. At which point did Yami go to the slotted brake rotors? The photos in the owner manual show the slotted rotors but the wheel rim is still shown black. Generally the photos in the manuals can be cross-year applicable and it wouldn't matter if an "old" wheel was shown in a 93 manual. But the pics are very clear.

Hey folks- an odd thing I think I noticed; perhaps somebody can clear it up for me. I'm fairly new to the Venture (just upsized out of a 750 Vulcan last summer) but not to motorbiking. Can somebody tell me; were there optional colors for the wheel rims somewhere along the MKI-MKII line? In the owner manual and in several of the photos I've seen on the site here, it looks like the circumferential rim (except the outer lip and machined spoke faces) is black. A few owners seem to have had theirs powder coated or otherwise painted to match custom paintjobs on their fairings, etc. And then there's mine- the whole wheel (again, excluding the actual machined surfaces) is more of a matte silver finish that looks like what you'd have from beadblasting aluminum. When I took delivery of my 93 in July last year it was quite dirty so I spent a fair amount of time with a 3M wheel on the die grinder trying to clean it up good, but it didn't look like the wheels had ever been black before. Any idears? Just curious- I didn't do any real research on it because I know the fine folks here will answer in short order anyway.
