Just to make some folks jealous: I have 3 @ 8-foot dual bulbs and 2 @ regular 4-foot (dual bulb) fixtures in my garage. In mild weather they're superb. Cold weather... well, eventually they put out a few lumens so you can see, but it's not stellar. I figure around 600 watts or so. Love it. :lightbulb::lightbulb:

The ebay ones ($126/pair) are about half the price of EBC replacements: http://www.ufo-productions.com/Brake-Pads-Shoes-Rotors/EBC-BRAKES-MD2096.html $157ea [ame=http://www.amazon.com/EBC-Pro-Lite-Brake-Rotor-MD2096/dp/B0045L96UK]Amazon.com: EBC Pro-Lite Brake Rotor - Front/Left MD2096: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31TKBWai3sL.@@AMEPARAM@@31TKBWai3sL[/ame] $132ea

X2 Also, why are you wasting $ getting premium gas? Adding to FF's suggestion below, I suspect you'll have a P0440 (EVAP system leak) if the gas cap was indeed loose.

How to determin model number?
Keemez replied to cabreco's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yeah, there does seem to be some discrepancy. As far as I know when the ISO stuff was implemented (this would be worldwide, mind you) all manufacturers jumped on board and all conform to them. That's why all vehicles (of virtually any type) have standardized 17 digit VINs. I dunno. Just thought I'd as usual. -

This should clear the model year encoding business up in a hurry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Number#Model_year_encoding -
Actually they can be removed even with the lid in place (MKII, I'm talking). That's why I was poo-pooing Yamaha for not leaving them fully accessible on the MKIs too. For shame! Oh well. It's not like we gotta take the seats off frequently anyway- not much to get at under there.
-
Am I correctly understanding that the seat bolts are not accessible with the sidebags fully in place? Naughty Yamaha...

Well, that explains a few things... :stickpoke:

I scored a "slightly used" 1490LMT on ebay for 90 bux not long ago. If you watch/bid on enough of them sooner or later you'll scoop up a pretty good deal. As for your question, I don't know any specific answers.

Just wire in a box fan or one of those air circulator blowers instead.

Yep. Not too hard to do. From paragraph 3 of ( http://www.streetdirectory.com/travel_guide/56868/car_parts/obd1_codes_secrets_for_check_engine_light.html ): For GM domestic vehicles made before 1995, the diagnostic connector is located under the dash panel by the driver side. To get the check engine codes to flash in your dash panel, use a jumper wire or a paper clip and connect terminals A and B of the diagnostic connector. Turn your ignition key on with engine off and the codes should start to blink. All codes should start with code 12 which is one long flash followed by 2 short flashes. This code 12 means the diagnostic system is normal and will repeat itself continuously if there are no trouble codes. Otherwise, code 12 will flash 3 times before flashing the fault codes. Here's a pinout of GM ALDLs: http://www.webpg.net/sc/toplevel.asp?cat=2

That sounds like a session timeout issue. The site is clearly thinking you're not logged in while you're trying to send a PM.

Hmm. Surely I'm not the only one that doesn't get the long-running joke/story here. Somebody clue us in.

Slave Cyl Remove & Replace Question
Keemez replied to cabreco's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That one is the stator cover gasket. EDIT: there seems to be some conflicting information that I'm getting off the parts breakdown. Regardless, if you go in through the normal series of choices you'll wind up at the following: the middle gear cover gasket is: 26H-15461-00-00 part #20: http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1984/XVZ12DL/CRANKCASE%20COVER/parts.html -

I finally peeled the protective coatings off of mine today and looked for the "damage"... it's incredible that they allowed this shield to go for half its normal price. The thing is in excellent condition to say the least. Yes, I can see and (barely) feel the scratch (about 1.5" long, nowhere near the centerline of vision), but it's so insignificant as to not be an issue at all. What a steal! It was a great idea to bring this sale to the site's attention- I'll bet Clearview got a surge of unexpected business as a result.

Slave Cyl Remove & Replace Question
Keemez replied to cabreco's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Seems to me like those 2 bolts holding the slave cyl in were 5mm? I'm not positive though. Might have been 6s.... could have been 4s for that matter. Pretty sure they're 5s though. -
My only issue with this is that it's estimated/approximate instead of irrefutably measured/proven. It'd be interesting to see how close your calculations are to actual. As for riding- no can do. Bike's stashed away for the next 4-5 months (don't really care to ride in subfreezing temps... that's what snowmobiles are for. )
-
Now that there was some pretty useful info. Looks like 39% front 61% rear, unloaded. Think I could twist your arm into repeating same under both other conditions (single rider, dual rider), just for grins? I'm a little AR about details like these.

Better Venture / Goldwing Comparision for your Specific year

Changed (or cleaned) the air filter yet? -
Gotta be able to keep the front wheel down SOMEhow, right? Nah, I'm just wondering how badly overloaded I've been at times with a total rider&gear load of somewhere in the 600 lbs range. Furthermore how close to the 908lb weight limit (loadrange 77) on the rear tire that I was at or over, if applicable.
