The fuel pump should not get hot. If it even gets a little warm, it is failing. My pump failed about the same mileage, on the way to Sturgis. I bypassed it like you did, and it did fine till I got a replacement.

"I" basket question

The whine on my bike was never a issue with me, but I use Motorkote in all of my bikes now. It has lessened the whine from the transmission and the top-end is quieter with it. I feel it is worth the expense. -
I I've got a 03. Love that bike. When I'm not 2 up on the Venture I'm on the America. Got about 40,000 miles on her and no issues. It's a beautiful bike.

I think I got around 24000 miles on my last BF Goodrich Radial T/A running at 35 pounds. I had more wear in the middle of the tread, so this time, I'm running 30 pounds. The ride is great, and the wear, so far , is even all across the tread. This is good for the 2up riding I do on the Venture, fully loaded.

I've owned several Harley's, the newest was a evolution motor, some years ago. Have you checked out the maintenance required? The evolution motor was the best I had from Harley, and I could put some miles on it. I actually got a little over 100,000 miles on it before the rebuild. I had it completely rebuild before I sold it for a down payment on my house. I don't know that you can do a rebuild on a Venture motor. Anyway, I never heard of anyone doing one. I guess you just buy a used motor to replace the broken motor.

I'm thinking that the dues should double for anyone who complains.

I've been using Motorkote in my bikes for a while now, and am very happy with the product. Shifting is smoother and the motors, top end and gear whine, are less than without it. But I have never taken a ride like a pro class.

I'm still using it in all of my bikes. I like it. -
Yep, it is kinda sad, but I'm still here!

I remember those conversations about the car tire on a bike. Not pretty at all. I believe I was one of the first to mention I had a car tire on my Venture. I had car tires on my older Harley's, and I believe I was called a lier because a car tire would not fit on a Harley. I'm on my 2nd TA Radial and I'm very pleased with the way the bike handles, and Robin loves the plush ride. After the break-in at 35 psi, I have lowered the tire to 32 psi, and thats 2up. I just replaced the front Metzler with a Dunlap E3, both stock size.

I have 60000 + miles on my original shock, and it squeaked since day 1. I'm surprised its still good. Any other bike, I'm sure I would have had to replace the shocks after this many miles. I've never had such a low maintenance bike in the 45 years I've been riding.

Anyone pin stripe their bike or use a kit?
wizard replied to shikano53's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Wow, I had never thought about using brake cleaner to strip the wax and clean the paint. Thanks for that tip! -

I guess they never heard the story about the boy who cried wolf to many times.

Yes, but I've never been there in the winter.

Ok. But Flagstaff is beutiful in the summer. Kinda sad you missed it.

What are the sales numbers for the Venture? I have never seen a post with the actual numbers.

I also learned the hard way that most any thread lock and plastic don't mix. I tried it on a bolt that kept backing out in my saddle bag.

Doesn't it seem that most of the fellows having wrecks are wearing full face helmets. I wonder if the weight of the Helmet causes them to land on their face? Sometimes, during the winter, I wear my full face because of the weather. I hate it. Most of the time I wear my little beanie and a hooded sweatshirt under my leather. Its not DOT, but it keeps the cops off of my back.
