  1. I did not know about the drain plugs. Where are they?
  2. Actually, I started running a car tire in the rear several years ago. Much better wear.
  3. Which tire are you running now?
  4. I'll buy and ride most any touring bike as long as Robin is comfortable behind me. So far, the Venture is tops in her book.
  5. Wow!
  6. Nice color.
  7. Nice color.
  8. Try lubing the brake handle where it rotates. When the bushing drys out, it causes grabbing, making it harder to pull smoothly.
  9. Wish you the best. Good luck
  10. Thanks for the invitation.
  11. Swinger friends of yours?
  12. I have an 06 that makes all kinds of noise from the top end. I thought it was a timing chain, then was told it couldn't be by the members here. Now I hear loose valves, but was told that it couldn't be, also by the members here. I guess it's just me or the nature of the beast.
  13. BF Goodrich TA radial on rear and a Venom on the front. No more Avon's, already cracking.
  14. I'd just reuse the O-ring. If it leaks replace it in 2 weeks.
  15. I don't know how many miles on the old tire. This time it lasted 2 years. Easily double any motorcycle tire I had on the bike. I'm 2-up on the Venture and got used to the tire in the twisties. I really don't think you'll have any problems with the tire pulling a trailer, but no experience. I feel more confident on the car tire, higher load rating, no cracks, easy to plug. Its just a better built tire than any motorcycle tire. Once the tire is broke in I'll lower the pressure to 28 lbs. The 1st 500 or so miles will feel like the tire is squiring around, but lowering the pressure helps when on the grooved highways.
  16. The BF Goodrich Radial TA is the best tire I've had on the Venture. The one I just replaced was down just past the wear bars when we left for the run to Nevada and Arizona. We made it there and back with no problems. The tire looked the same as when we left.
  17. I have used the rotella dino since I bought the bike. At about 3000 miles I notice the shifting is a little harder, so I change it. I'm thinking I will use the syn next time.
  18. Not really. It did lower the rear a bit, so I lowered the front a bit.
  19. I believe the Goodrich is a better built tire. I just had my 3rd mounted before this years traveling.
  20. I've been plugging tires for years and never had one fail, both front and back.
  21. I have a 06 Venture with close to 100,000 miles and I have always greased both ends of the shaft. The 1st time I pulled it apart there was very little grease on the spline, and no fluid at all in the housing. If it was being lubed by the fluid, it seems to me that there would have been at least a little bit pouring out when I pulled it. I grease the splines every time I replace the tire, and I'm running a car tire. The splines look like new to me.
  22. WOW! I just caught Yamagrl winking at me! Luv those green eyes.
  23. Wow! After reading some of these answers, its amazing they are still riding motorcycles.
