Such a sad thing. It sounds as if the road was unfamiliar to the riders.

I gotta tell you that the motorkote has taken all of the whine out of my bike. The only time I hear the gears now is when I'm using the gears to slow the bike when I'm going down hill, and only for a small RPM range. Aren't you the one that heard it turns the metal to mush?
-
Well, I'll take it. Do I have to ride far to pick it up, or will you deliver it to me?

I drop-ed my bike when my Levi's got stuck on the heal part of the shifter, couldn't put my foot down. I ended up with just the toe shifter. It leaves a lot more room for my foot now.

Is fuel pump really needed?
wizard replied to spingley's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It can be done. I ran without a fuel pump when it completly failed. Just pull the fuel line from the filter and run it directly to the fuel inlet on the right side of the bike. -
Motorkote comments and tracking??
wizard replied to Judes Dude's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
It worked in my water cooled Venture, so I changed out the oil in my air cooled Triumph and went for a 300 mile ride. It reduced the top end noise on it quite a bit. I'm sold! -
Wow! Thats a heck of a deal. Welcome! You say you never rode the bike? I hope you like the rideing position. My wife tells me it's the most comfortable shes been on.
-
Why should they change this Venture. Its still the best deal in town, just the way it is. A few complain, not many, about the whine, chirp or the cassette player, but most are actually very happy with the ride. When I wear this one out, I wouldn't mind buying another just like it. As for the color, black is just fine, no other colors are needed. Black shows off the chrome just fine. ;-)

Motorkote comments and tracking??
wizard replied to Judes Dude's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
It does work! I put 400 miles on the bike after changing the dino Rotella and adding 8 ounces of motorkote. I have no ticking on startup, very little whine, no chirp, and my gas mileage has improved. I'm really impressed with this stuff. So far, there are no issues with my clutch. Who needs magic spark plugs? I don't! -
Gee, I wouldn't have thought to ask that. Good question. Maybe, if you only have 3 fingers, do you have two thumbs? :-)

Can't Keep bike running? ANY HELP
wizard replied to TheKid's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'll bet its your fuel pump. It happened that way with mine. Your bike will run without the pump, but you must bypass it completly. Take the fuel line from the petcock and disconnect it from the filter and run it directly to the carb on the right side of the bike. Keep your tank at least 1/4 full and you can ride until your new pump arrives. -
Opps. I guess I should have said that no one on the west coast wants a meet-n-eat on the west coast. Sorry big guy. ;-)

Do I have a warrantee issue?
wizard replied to Busta's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The trunk lid on my Venture cracked and my dealer replaced it, no questions were asked. He just said its covered by the 5 year warrantee. -
It does seem that there are very few activities, or members on the west coast. I guess that there were not enough members at the last meet & eat on the west coast, they moved the next one to Cody Wyoming.

Kinda makes you wonder about the shop rate, don't it? Seems that Yamaha knows that the shop rates are too high, and will only pay what they think is fair. But, at least it gets taken care of in most cases! It seems only a few times that a dealership refuses to do the work, but, to tell the truth, I've only read about these cases. Nobody I know has ever had any issues with a dealership doing warranty work.

My fuel pump got progressively worse on our ride to Sturgis, so I bypassed the pump to keep on the road. I knew there would be a few long distances between gas stations in a few areas, and was able to locate a pump from a crashed Royal Star. When we got back, I took the bad pump to the new Yamaha Dealer in Bakersfield. After explaining why I did not bring the bike in to have them diagnose the pump failure, Dennis said he would contact Yamaha and see if they would give me a new pump. Three days later, here I sit with a new one in my hand. A good shop, people who care, and a great warranty. I'm really liking Yamaha!!!

To tell the truth, I'd rather belong to a smaller group. It does seem more exclusive, and when communicating with the members, I feel that they are more honest and caring. With a lot of the other open blogs, will, there are some really weird people out there that will post anything to mislead others.

A good oil will hold the deposits in suspension. Your oil, after 6,000 miles should have been dark, or black.

I started to change my standard plugs every 8,000 miles. I do notice a change for the better when I do this. The 1st time I changed my plugs was when a Yamaha mechanic asked me how many miles I had on the plugs. I forget what it was I told him, but he told me he could hear it was past time. I might just be a very sensitive guy, but I do notice the change when they are replaced. The plugs look fine when I pull them, but...

I test rode a Victory Vision on Saturday and put about 60 miles on it. Its a nice ride and smooth for a V-Twin. And it has enough power to make it seem quick. But, at a cost of $27,000 OTD, I remembered why I bought my Venture, and love it so much.

Ouch! I have to wonder if this guy is diabetic, and has no feeling in his legs. It would be very difficult for me to hold my leg next to a heat source long enough to get a 2nd degree burn.

I have a Triumph America for local riding with 43,000 miles, and never a problem. I replaced the chain once, adjusted the valves once, and replaced the tires a few times. Its very easy to work on and a blast to ride!. The quality of this bike is excellent!

I hadn't heard about this. She looks fine, I hope this has not affected her feelings about riding!
