Thats interesting. I wonder what frame modifications, new steering geometries and suspensions would be needed on the Venture to make them work. I already have a tough time telling the wife why a motorcycle costs the same as a lot of the cars on the market. This engineering issue will help with that. I wonder if this is why the Harleys are so expensive. Switching to radials on the Harleys must have taken a lot of time and work.

Which tire, bias or radial, provides the best traction?
-
I'm running a BFG Radial tire on the back and a Metzler bias on the front and the only issue I have had is dragging the pipes when I do any aggressive riding. The BFG is about a half inch lower than a stock bias tire. I have heard that Kumho has a radial tire that matches the stock tire in height.

Well, the report says she was sorry for what happened...
-
I've got a BFG TA radial on back and I have my pressure at 35#. Riding is mostly 2 up on the Venture, and I have no wobble, up to 100mph, which is usually all I need when passing slower traffic. I know that at that setting, when I ride alone, I do get a little wobble at the higher speeds, but I don't lower the pressure.

Motorkote comments and tracking??

I plan on using it in all of my vehicles now. It has worked so well on both of my bikes, the wifes truck and car will have it added now! Another Venture rider I see once in a while has told me that it reduced his whine by at least 50%. It does seem odd that it will work for some, but not for others. -
Wow! That's great! Congratulations on the 2nd gen bike. Is it brand new?

Post # 17? Randya is from Tennesse and I really don't see anything political about his post. I'll try again in a little bit, my eyes must be tired.

Metzeler 880 corporate irresponsibility sends me to darkside

Oldbear makes an interesting point. What tire is designed for the Venture? A Bridgestone, or a Dunlop 404? And if I recall correctly, it seems that most of us overload our trunks, saddlebags, and exceed the recommended safe speed while riding with the trunk on the bike. What about all of the aftermarket items we add to the bike. Were these items designed for the Venture? I'm thinking now that maybe I should not carry insurance. If they can use any of these items to deny a claim, its a waste of my money to have the insurance in the first place. -
Didn't Honda have a inline 6 a few years back?

One of the guys that rode with the local Star Chapter traded his Venture on a new Strat. He has been trying to sell the Strat to go back to the Venture. The last time I saw him, he was still on the Stratoliner. His wife won't ride with him anymore.
-
It would seem that as the riding population ages, more of us are looking at full touring bikes, not cruisers with a fairing. There is no way I could ever get my wife on a bike that was less equipped than a Venture. We sat on a Stratoliner once, and she laughed at me. At the same dealer they had the Victory model, she could live with it, but the styling...?

As in $44,000.00? How much does it cost?

fuel pump committed suicide
wizard replied to starrider60's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If your pump fails on the road, reroute the fuel line directly to the carb on the right hand side of the bike. When you bypass the fuel pump, the bike will run fine. It worked ok for me until I replaced the pump. It does seem like a lot of 2006 Ventures have failures. -
Even at 100 mph the gas seems to drain out of the tank very quickly!

a question about being a passenger, for those that are.

The only time Robin can't see over my head is when I wear the full face helmet during the winter. I wear a toy helmet when I'm in California, and a doo rag when out of state. I'd suggest a smaller helmet. -
Ok. I understand why you don't want a car tire now. Thanks.

Its going good! And the trains, every 20 minutes. We tried to delete em, but we didn't get a ok, so it seems like every 10 minutes now!

I didn't know the moderators needed permission from the poster to delete the post!

Aluminum rivets don't last on the pipes due to the vibration. They work loose and finally fail. Use the stainless rivet, you won't lose the tip.

Where can you buy a special tool? Please don't say the dealer. -
Well, damn it all. It's stories like this that make me wish I had bought another Harley like all of my buddies wanted me to! Riding rice is all of what I heard it would be. Not nice at all!

Wow! A comfortable 800 mile day? For me, not even in my truck!!!
