We will be taking a 4 day trip up to Copper Harbor MI and would like to get a set of studded, leather, lower chaps, or rain guards for my bike. It has the Barons Engine Guard and its a 97 Royal. Any suggestions would be great, Not finding a lot while Googling. Thanks!

I liked the idea of a Portable Putting Green, take it to fairs and festivals, as a side business, but decided against it. Think the capacity is 1250# but will double check, should be just fine for the bike. Kevin, I have been looking into the camera idea, I had that situation last year while dragging the rig, but it was a sewer hose that came out of the bumper and was unraveling behind us about 35 feet as it got caught on the back of the Aluminum Trailer. That was interesting,...

I picked up a trailer last week and will be turning it into our Motorcycle Hauler. Lori and I do a couple of camping trips with the Truck and 5th wheel and I have been wanting to get a trailer to tow behind the 5ver and bring the bike. Last year I borrowed a beautiful Aluma Trailer from my Bro who owns Grandville Trailer. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2013%20IDI%20Weekend/2013-06-30162225_zps536117e5.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2013%20IDI%20Weekend/2013-06-30162244_zps026d800a.jpg But since I dont want to spend $2,500.00 on a new trailer that will only get used a couple times a year, and dont want to borrow one every time, I picked this little guy up. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2014-06-14102224_zps64673f59.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2014-06-14102211_zps60f85835.jpg New bearings and tires, lights and wiring, for $200.00. Gonna get rid of the putting green grass, install the front wheel chuck forward where it is pictured, and the aluminum ramp will fold up and store on the side of where the bike will sit. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2014-06-14102346_zpsa625c3f3.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2014-06-14102324_zps60980a8a.jpg Should have it done this week, since we will be heading out of town next Sunday for a week. More to come later,..

Woman messing with cell phone plow over 4 bikes in Ohio...
DarrinGT replied to YamahaLarry's topic in Watering Hole
Very sad indeed!, A number of years ago my buddy and his wife were on their Honda Nigh Hawk stopped at a red light, He saw a car approaching behind him that had no intention of stopping, He Popped the clutch and hit the throttle to get out of the way, but his wife was not holding on, and with no backrest, she started to fall off the back of the bike,... but her feet got stuck under the armpits of my buddy, She stayed on, they got out of the way, the car blew the red light,,...and they sold the bike. Close one all the way around,.. -
New Regulator Rectifier from Caltric did the trick, It is installed and charging again! Just have a few more things to button up and it will be ready to ride,...assuming we get some riding weather soon..

Thanks Annie! Preciate it!! Well we did all the testing tonight, the Stator is good and doing what it is supposed to do, All of the wiring is good, no connection problems. It appears that the Electrosport Regulator has failed according to the test. I have not been able to find one for a 1997 from Ricks, since I have his Stator all I can find are 99 and up Royals. I will call them tomorrow to check as well. Anyone have another vendor to recommend? I want to order one tomorrow so I can have it here as quickly as possible, Spring is coming,,,,I think,... Thanks!

Just wanted to say Thank You Squidly, I appreciate your comments and support, Hope to meet you someday as well.

Back to Square One,.. One of the reasons for starting this makeover was when my Stator was frieking out and not working. I have put about 200 miles on the bike, no fairing, just the stock windshield. Since the Fairing wasn't installed I didn't have my Volt Gauge to look at. Well I went to start the bike yesterday and the battery was weak. I put it on the charger, and let it set for the day while I put my newly painted fairing back together and got it installed. Fired it up, checked the gauges, and guess what, The Stator is NOT CHARGING!,.. I did hook up the fairing when I got the bike running and it was working at that time, but sometime in the last 200 miles, it decided to quit. SO this week I will be tearing into the bike again, hopefully it is something in the wires, and not the stator itself. Once I saw that it was not charging, I just had to walk away, closed up the shop and headed home,..I will deal with it next week,...pretty frustrated right now,.
-
Well its official..My bike gets the same fuel mileage as my car,..38 mpg's http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2001%20VW%20Golf%20TDI%202%20Door/GTDI1Edit_zps166232d7.jpg My car is a 2001 VW Golf TDI Diesel 5sp. Since the Fairing is not back from the painters yet, I put on the stock windshield and was able to put some Maiden Voyage Miles on it yesterday. Rode about 30 miles in the afternoon, went and picked up Lori and did close to 80 miles with her. The bike runs Awesome! Very peppy, and it was good to ride it again,..and we Love the Sound! Now we are back to cold temp's for the foreseeable future but it was good to have it out for the first time in 6 months!
-
Now THAT is a Cool bike! Nice job Puc! Glad you had a couple of days of spring to get it running since winter came back today,..

Just about done, The bike is almost back together, still waiting for the fairing to get back from the body shop. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2014-03-29142938_zps0024cf2a.jpg Lowered Bags and Monster Ovals installed: http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2014-03-29143053_zps942b4260.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2014-03-29143041_zpse04bef57.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2014-03-29143017_zps3f619a70.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2014-03-29142929_zps05085a07.jpg Synced the carbs yesterday also, They were a little out,.. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/2014-03-29133151_zps5d9ad772.jpg Thats it for now,.

Well the hardware and brackets are made, painted, and installed for the lowered saddlebags and new mufflers,. Here is what we did,,. Here is the brackets saddle bag brackets in the stock location: Left side http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/1997%20Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Makeover/20140104_102022_zps9b5dd098.jpg Right Side: http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/1997%20Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Makeover/20140104_102030_zpsa9ec74c8.jpg Here is the right saddle bag bracket lowered using aluminum stock brackets: http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/1997%20Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Makeover/20140126_155220_zps67aa8ffe.jpg This is the only one I have of the left one: http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/1997%20Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Makeover/2014-02-04203054_zps4dea7186.jpg So on the left one I had to notch the bottom bar, Raise it up so the deferential suspension travel will clear it. Also the front brace going had to be cut off and welded up higher on the bracket so it would bolt in the stock location on the frame: http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/1997%20Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Makeover/2014-03-23160925_zps57a4b14e.jpg On the right side bracket, the we had to notch out the lower front corner to clear the brake caliper, and modify the front brace to bolt to the stock frame location. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/1997%20Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Makeover/2014-03-23160952_zpsdeae1ff4.jpg I had them mocked up on the bike for a while, but now they are painted, the muffler brackets are done, and all new Chrome and Stainless Steel Nuts and bolts complete this part of the makeover. Ill be putting on the saddle bags soon as well. The rest of the bike is all back together also, minus the Fairing that just got sent to my buddys body shop to get repainted.

Cool, Ill look into it, but I allready have what I need for the Door Opener install,,Decisions,..decisions,.. Thanks again,..

Vmax Cams & Venture Carbs
DarrinGT replied to Reaney in NH's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
From another member here from this thread: http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=82640 I pulled heads and cyclinders in frame to regasket when they blew no easy but can be done, the frame on the 96 had a section that bolted in at the top, with that removed rear head and carb could be lifted right out leaving room to remove front head and slide it back and out So it looks like it can be done,.. -
