I was not liking the load on the Stator with my stock headlight and aftermarket Passing Lights, so I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the Truck Lite Setup, LED Headlight and Passing Lights. What a Quality Setup, They were a direct replacement for my 97 Royal, all I had to do was change the wiring and get rid of the plug on the Passing Lamps. http://www.drivetrainamerica.com/p-15587-truck-lite-27270c-7-round-led-headlight-harley-hummer-jeep-wrangler-cj-tj-jk.aspx?CAGPSPN=pla&gclid=CJKa8L_j4cQCFcVi7AodXigA1Q http://www.amazon.com/Truck-Lite-80275-LED-Auxiliary-Lamp/dp/B008H4LSBG Now my Stator Gauge hardly moves when I turn on the passing lamps, where before they would drop to just above 12V. We got to ride for the first time last week, did 130 miles. What a difference, The guys we ride with could not believe how visible I was during the day light, Then came on the night that was the real test for me. We got to hit the back roads after dark and they were Way better than what I replaced. Brighter and Whiter light! My deer watcher Wife noticed how much farther the light threw off to the sides and lit up the ditches. So not a "cheap" Upgrade but to me it was worth the Money! I still want to adjust the headlight a little to get it dialed in, hope to be able to do that in the next few days. Lookks like Weather wont let us ride again till Sunday. Plus, They look SWEET!! http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/20150402_072241_zps6abvjntz.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/20150402_072235_zpsbkudhiam.jpg That is all,..Carry on,..

Thanks Steve, Calling it a Twinkie makes sense to me! I did see that diagram yesterday and looks like I can get the gaskets. Still wondering what it does, and if it comes out of there without removing the Carbs. Planning on working on it on Saturday, so just seeing what I am getting into. Thanks again,..

Near the end of last riding season I was seeing a little antifreeze leaking coming from behind the left side engine covers. So I an getting it ready for this season and the leak seems to be coming from a housing nestled between the "V" of the motor. I just don't know what it is,.. Here is a pic of where it is leaking: So what is this thing, what does it do, and how hard is ot to get out and replace the gaskets? Just want to see what I am geting into before tearing it apart. Thanks!

Today My 19 year old daughter Taylor who is in college doing a double major for Language and Intercultural Studies, sent Lori this email: She gave me permission to share it, so here it is. So Proud of My Taylor Thanks for reading,... As I finish this she just got home from work, Gotta go give her a Hug!

Sweet, Yea H58 is a beautiful road, We were there about a month after the repave a few years ago. One statement I read that it was like being in a Bike Magazine! Mike wishes he had his Go Pro on while we were riding into Copper Harbor That was an awesome road, Lots of little turns and quick elevation changes, great tree cover and no shoulder. Lots of fun. We hope to be doing a 5 day western up trip next year. Mike did a scouting trip last weekend and will be planning it out.

Thanks Bill, The bike is runnin Sweet!, Not getting as many miles on it as I hoped this year as we are buying a new home so that has kept us busy with other stuff. There are a few changes that I will make to the bike this winter so we will see how that goes. Thanks again,.l

True That, Just saying that it may not be good for your wife's stress level,. But I have to say our last race was against my buddy's 2012 Victory Cross Country 1700, After we beat him and my wife came on the intercom and said,.."well that was fun!" So she may like it,..Give it a try,..

Great tips and information here already, Cage, Good think you are wearing a helmet! Puc, thanks for your input, great read! My wife and I use headsets as well, they are great, I have a stereo on my fairing and use it one up riding, as Lori likes to have the calm of the ride with no music, till recently, now she wants to Rock...and she does,.. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/1997%20Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Makeover/20140720_162715_zpsdc1e3307.jpg The headsets are also nice to let her know when I see a Bump coming up that she cant, and she lets me know when she sees deer. That took some sorting out, She used to say "Deer" when she would see some back in a field, That would get my attention and not in a good way. Now she says "field Deer" in that situation, If she says "Deer!" that means there is one on the side of the road. Like others said take stops as she wants or even before she wants to. Get some coffee, check out a roadside shop, do what she likes, and it will help her relax and enjoy your trips together. Try to avoid racing Harleys all the time,, Not good for her stress level,...Just saying,..

Thank you Puc I will pass it along to Mike, Yes he does a great job with these! Hope that most made it past the 38 second mark, Gotta love his sense of humor,..

Earlier this year we were able to take a 4 day 1255 Mile Trip from Grand Rapids to Copper Harbor MI and back with some of our Peeps. Lori and I on our 1997 Royal Todd and Zelpha on their Road Star Mike and Vic on the Old Mans Crotch Rocket, Goldwing Kevin and Dawn on their newly acquired Yamaha Midnight Venture. Notice the Vance $ Hines Monster Ovals, He heard Mine and had to have them,.. Here is the Video that Mike made: As he stated, Need Lots of Volume! Sorry, for some reason I could not get the video to imbed,.. Ill get some pics up soon, Enjoy!

LOL, Great post Puc, Yea it would have been pretty interesting if that happened in Hell, MI. But really what are the chances that the Trip Odo would be at 66.6, the exact time the the Bike Odometer is 60,666,..? Kinda cool, no matter what number. It was one of the best trips that we have taken, it was this summer so no fall colors, but beautiful non the less. In fact I am gonna post a Music Video that my Bro in law made, but I will start another thread for that.

Totally Agree, the Number has no affect on me, My God is way bigger than that! It was an Awesome Trip, No Rain, moderate temps and Great People.

We took a 1250 mile 4 Day Trip up to Copper Harbor in the Upper Peninsula a while back, On one of our stops, while I climbed off the bike I noticed the trip odometer read,... 66.6,.. I chuckled. Well we hung out there for a bit on Lake MI, we were close enough to see the Mackinaw Bridge. When we climbed back on the bike I asked Lori if she saw the Trip Odometer, She said Yea and chuckled,..So just for fun I hit the button to see what the miles on the bike were at that time,... 60,666. We left,.. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/Darrin-GT/20140721_113031_zpscc66ccdb.jpg

Trade trailer hitch and CD player for drivers backrest

It is a different setup, It was on the bike when he bought it a couple months ago, It attached to the saddle bag brackets, not up to the fender eye brows. Very clean install. -
