Is the whole system welded? because if not you can just purchase the rear y pipe instead of a whole new system.. -
Canada to Cancun on the 250$ Venture - The full ride report

Great write up so far, Looking forward to the next installment! -
Today's progress. I disassembled everything, and sprayed the inside of the fairing and the Dash board side with a product called Gravel Tek, It is an rock guard protection but not as thick as a bedliner. I put 2 coats on the inside for sound deadening and to make the fairing just a little bit stronger. One coat on the dash board side to add texture to it. Next work on getting it painted... That I will leave up to a professional,... Dash board side,..

Pic of the face of the fairing installed, Next to do is to cut the radio hole for the Radio Cover, got that installed: Test Fit with the windshield: Front view: Might even get some HD Fairing Mirrors and loose the Yami Mirrors I want to get it all mocked up/installed, then dissasemble it to have it painted. That is it for now,..

Finally got some time to work on the Fairing. First of all it says on the ebay ad, "Strongly suggest Professional Installation..." I am doing it myself anyway,..lol,.. That said, this brand of fairing not a simple Bolt In Procedure. It takes some modification to get it installed correctly but not bad." First of all here is the radio that I am installing, Why this one,.? Because it was what I had sitting around my shop. I just picked up the water resistant marine radio install cover. Speakers are Kickers,, Not marine grade but they are good speakers at a good price. In 4 years the speakers on my old bike never got wet so I will risk it,. Bracket installed, Sorry don't know how to turn the pic,.. The bottom drops on the stock windshield bracket but had to be widened quite a bit. The top bots to the stock windshield bolt. It had to be widened out as well. Notice there are 2 bolts where the fairing will bolt to,.. I decied it needed 3 bolts for the fairing, and installed large washers to help spread the stress of the load points. No holes in the fairing, I needed to mark and drill them as well. More in the next post,..

brake disk chrome covers
DarrinGT replied to 2WHEELSFORME's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I like the looks of the covers removed, Had no idea that is what it would look like. One thought, if the cover was weighted for balance, and the tire was balanced on the rim with the covers, removing them may throw off the weight. One way to eliminate this is use of Balance Beads in the tire instead of traditional balancing. It is all that I use in mine, I got 22,500K miles out of my last front tire. The Balance Beads wont care if the covers are there or not,.. -
Also I might ad, Best sounding mufflers for these ole V4's!

Nice job on the Monster Ovals. Yes the mounting holes are as you described and different than the RK mufflers. I only recently found this out. I installed Monster Ovals on my 97 RSTC a few years ago. That was a complete custom install. When we got our 07 a couple of months ago I removed my Monster Ovals off the 97 to put them on the 07, and bought some stock RK mufflers for the 97 to get the bike ready to sell. The mounting brackets were so far back that it would look stupid on my 97 becaust they would be exposed as they stuck out from under the Leather Saddle bags. So I installed the stock Venture Mufflers and fabricated a mount for it. Then I had the brackets for the 07 shortened and redrilled for the mounting points. It was a little disappointing that everything was not a simple bolt in swap but that is like most of the projects that I end up dong lol,. Again Nice Job!

I dont know what brand it is, I bought it from Dingy who had it new and never used it. It does come with the correct brackets and looks to be close to a bolt in deal. I will be exploring that in the next day or so as I want to get it mounted before I get it painted. Pretty sure it is close to this one minus the gel coat. It has the same brackets as well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/351742480190?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Here is a pic of one of my brackets:

Great Info Dion, thanks for posting Not shure, Just looking for input, Looks like a cool unit and it might fit in the fairing, but I do use my phone for gps also, I just dont know what is the best way to go. That is close to the setup I had in my 97 fairing with the same results. Pretty washed out as highway speeds. That link didn't, but I have been looking on ebay for ideas as well. Very nice looking setup on both radio options, My thought is that a good car stereo would work btter for sound than the compact ones. Thanks again for your input,..

Putting together a Fairing for our new 2007 Yamaha Royal and I am looking for advice on audio,. Here is the fairing, set up for 6X9 Speakers and a car radio. I have some 6X9 speakers but am not sure where to go with the audio. I mostly use my Cell Phone on Pandora for tunes on our 97, Just had a Shark Audio installed with gauges. On this on I am not installing gauges, so I have room to install a normal car radio. I would also like the option to control the volume with my thumb on the passengers side, so some sort of a remote control. Then I see these GPS systems that have audio also, Just looking for ideas and what works for you. We are planning to have this bike for years and many miles to come so I onlly want to do this once. Thanks for any input!

Keeping in mind that our "kids" are 22,25, and 27, some with spouses, the fact that they still want to do stuff with the ole Parents, well,.. that is pretty cool and that is what we are gonna do! We will be keeping an eye out for the next one for sure!

I crunched our schedule yesterday to see if we could make it but there was no way, I Didn't get home from the shop till 7:30 as it were. But we would love the opportunity again for one of these. Will keep watching! -
Thanks! Here is the funny part, The guy riding it away was not the buyer, He was a Buddy of his, has a 200K mile Harley. He came down to test ride it for him since he needs to get his motorcycle endorsement renewed. Then he rode it home. After the test ride he said This thing beats Harleys doesn't it,.. I said Yup,..

Thanks Lenny, I agree on the color, It is what caught us as well and have already got a lot of compliments on it. For sure I will post up the Fairing install.

In with the New. Why did we (I say "WE" but really it is my wife's bike, She just lets me take her for rides on it) sell the 97, because opportunity presented itself, in the form of an 07 Royal Star Tour Delux. Since I own a car lot I am always shopping for inventory, well I ran across this 07 with 11K miles on it in West Virginia for $4,000.00. I talked with the owner a few times and decided it would make a nice addition for the car lot inventory, and got it for $4,300.00 including shipping. Figured I could make a cool Grand, and play with it while it was up for sale. It was sitting in the shop when Lori came in to work on a Friday she saw it and it took her breath a little, There has not been another bike that cough both of our eyes enough to consider keeping it and selling the 97, this one did,.. Well long story short (yea, I know "too late") after a few 400 mile weekends we decided we are keeping the 07. With that decision made I had work to to, Transfer lots of parts from the 97 to the 07 before putting it up for sale. Vance and Hines Monster Ovals, Stebel Air Horn, Truck Light LED head and driving lights, etc. But we got it done! Pic of the bike when we got it: And now with the exhaust, Headlights, Luggage rack, gauges, added a 12V charging port, Changed out the Corbin Seats for Mustangs, and a few other misc parts. Lori and I love the bike, We put 725 miles on it over the 4th of July weekend, so it is getting broke in well, The next big project will be replacing the windshield with a Bat-wing Fairing, That will be coming in today. Looking forward to getting that done. We upgraded to a 10 year newer bike, with almost 60K less miles on it. Fuel mileage is Greatly Improved, got 45 45 and 46 MPG on 3 tanks last weekend, with a larger fuel tank, cruising range is 170 to 180 before reserve, instead of 120 with the 97. Love That!!! So when it is all said and done with all of the improvements and selling our old bike it will cost us out of pocket around $1,500.00. That is a lot of upgraded bike for not a lot of money! Happy Riders here!
