Well said Jeff, about the vicious cycle. Most chronic pain sufferers also have to deal with depression. You are right, pain is biotch. Then you get depressed because it is so frustrating dealing with that cycle ( not the one you ride ). We just have to grab hold of the things we can still do and find pleasure in. Take care: Don

You hit the nail on the head Brian. Wait gain is a big problem when you lose your mobilty, and then throw in chronic pain, which is a real sympton and result from many health issues. I gained 120 pounds after my accident and resulting issues. I guess I was just lucky the guy I had the incounter with did not make note of my weight. Don

This qoute from the article got me, notice the prices. Harley sells bikes with engine capacities up to 1500cc that are priced between 695,000 rupees and 3.5 million rupees (15,660 dollars and 79,000 dollars). I wonder which model is $79,000? Don

I did attempt to explain it to him, but I guess it was not good enough for him. Don

I realy apreciate all the support and help I have recieved from all the great brothers and sister here! I guess I can be considered a "lurker", as I do not post often. Just know that I do read and learn a lot from all of you. I cannot wait till I will someday be able to actually attend one of our functions. I have a hard time planning ahead because there are some days when I barely get out of bed or the chair. I am on some pretty heavy duty meds, and on those occcassions will not drive, let alone ride while medicated. My wife is driving a truck over the road now and is not around much right now. She actually rides a Kawasaki Voyager. Once she is more established with the trucking company she works, for we hope she will be able to spend more time home again. I should have known that this would not be a great day. As I was rolling my VR out of the garage, I set the kick stand down on my big toe! ( on my good foot, lol). I am surprised the neighbores did not hear me scream and curse! Thanks again for all the kind words and support! Don

Hey Don; I have a set of Jardines on my bike, they are 3 years old and the chrome is peeling vary badly! I bought them new, I guess this is why there was a little note in the box with the mufflers that said they " do not warrenty " the chrome. Kind of rubbed me the wrong way that they did not say anything about the chrome untill I received them and paid them the big buck! I will see about rechroming, if it is too much I will see about having the strpped and just paint or wrap them. Don from Tn

Had an experience today, that just fries my butt. I have been disabled for 18 years. I have a handicap plate on both my Durango and my Venture Royale. Earlier today I had to stop by Home Depot and parked my bike in a disabled slot. I have mostly gotten used to people looking at me funny when I use these parking places. Today as I was getting ready to leave when an elderly guy stops and starts grilling me about using the spot. I started out being polite and pointed out my tag and he wants to know "how I can ride a bike IF I am disabled". I just replied that I am disabled not dead. Then he starts questioning me about the POW/MIA jacket I proudly wear and the flag I fly on my bike! He finally realized he had me pissed off. Some times I wish I had lost an leg or had some visible signs to "justify" my status. I guess to be fair he could not see the brace on my ankle, or the 12 screws and plates in my neck from a 3 level discectomy and fusion. I have to wear the brace because of a failed fusion in that ankle. I was in the hospital for 3 days for that little operation,,,, then 3 months back in the hospital due to blood clotts. Since I have chronic DVTs ( deep vien thrombosis ) no one will even try to fix my fracked up ankle. I can't even get the dental work I badly need because no one will touch me. I have been on coumadin for 15 years now, they tried to take me off and I had a pulmonary embolism plus kept thowing clotts. I apoligize for this rant, it is just that it helps to get this stuff off my chest. Thanks for listening; Don

Hey Earl; I also have a set of Jardines on my 86VR. I love the sound of these mufflers, they are some what mellow at idle but as you roll on the throttle they really get your attention. My only beef with the Jardines is that the chrome is now flacking after 3 years. I was thinking of having them re-chromed but that would probabaly cost as much as new. I will either paint them or wrap them this winter. How is the chrome holding up on your? Don -

OMG, you killed Bambi!!!!!!!!! Just Kidding David. Congrats on the bow kill. I guess persistance does pay off. It is a very admirerable thing you and your friends do for families in need. I grew up in S. Florida in the late 60s and early 70s. Spent many a great day out in the woods. Of course, this was before developement took out all the natural land. I am now up here in Tn and would love to be able to hunt again, but now am physically unable to. Oh well at least I can still :Venture:ride some! Thanks for making the roads safer! Don

We've got a new problem now and I've been put in charge of fixing it.

Bob; I totally agree with you on the Jr vs Sr feud. Not only does Sr have issues with Jr and Mikey, he is also on the outs with the son, ( Dan ?), who took over the iron works. Obviously we get to see the edited version of things on the show, but Sr comes off as a total control freak and bully. I read recently Sr even refused to go to Jrs' wedding. It is sad that he tries to undermine Paul Jr Designs (PJD). I do give Sr credit for all he did starting OCC, but it is clear that he did not do it all alone. Take away Rick and and the kid that does the computer designs and I thinks SR would be in deep ca-ca. Good luck with your project, as a diabetic I appreciate your efforts to raise funds. Don -
It is a spin off of Ice Road Truckers. They have a very cute driver named Lisa Kelly, she is always bundled up in a parka and snow pants. The scene for most dangerous roads showed them driving on some mountain roads in what looks like S. America. Don

Looks interesting. Only bad thing is that they have that Rick clown back, oh well, at least we will see what Lisa looks like with less clothes on! Don
