Searching for the Bottom trunk for an 86 MKII that matches the picture in the attachment..
-
It is an 86 VR. See Attached Picture. The picture looks perfect but there are some hidden damage like the bottom trunk.
-
Trying to help my neighbor out. This trunk maybe beyond repair, but i thought I would 1st ask the group. Please see attachment. There are some big chunks missing and a few smaller chunks. The are a lot of cracks. If he could find one the same color and shine to match his MKII he probably buy it. Your thoughts?

Thank you all for your input and safety issues. All well appreciated.

Thanks! I got the coupon also. I'm going to pick one up this weekend and by the insurance also for I will definately be putting it to the test for I have several small trees to fall and stumps to pull.
-
Thanks to all. I will try the heavy hammer with a light hand. If that does not work then will order one.

What is the best way to unbend a MKII clutch lever. The bend is slight, but enough to notice a slight difference compared to when it was straight. Maybe heat it up and sandwich the lever between two flat surfaces excluding the round ball at the end of the lever. Then use a couple of C clamps to press the lever straight?

So I'm looking for a winch so I can slide it into the receiver of my truck. And also to built a mount on my tractor trailer tongue to winch vehicles up. Some of my other use is to pull some stumps out. With the use of a pully, help guide trees down after I knotch the base. Then to winch the down tree close to where I can saw them up. With the use of a small Kubota back hoe to dig up some stumps partially then to winch them out. I've been looking at used WARN winches in craigslist. At the same time I've seem a few other brands. Then the WARN company has a 12,000 lbs for $680.00. Then there are also other brands including Harbor Frieght for $300.00 with a 25% coupon. Are Harbor Freight that bad of a winch and WARN that good. I do not know much about a winch, except for a couple of years my neighbor had a large winch and we fell and winched two years of firewood so I know something about a winch but not alot. So what do you think about this 12,000 WARN winch for $680.00 Part Number: WAR86260 Rated Line Pull: = 12000 lbs. Voltage: = 12V DC Series Wound Remote Control: = Remote switch, 12 ft. lead Geartrain:= 3-stage Planetary Geartrain:= 3-stage Planetary Gear Ratio: = 216:1 Size: = 21.83 in. x 6.3 in. x 6.97 in Weight: = 89 lbs. Wire Rope = 80 ft. of 3/8 Fairlead = Roller Type of Winch: = Electric Harbor Freight $300.00 using a 25% coupon Automatic load-holding brake for maximum safety Three-stage planetary gear system for fast line speed Series-wound motor stays cooler during long winch pulls Freespooling for fast line-out Cable tensioner to prevent cable tangling 12 ft. ergonomic handheld remote control Roller fairlead with nylon bushing Aircraft grade wire rope

So my question is, after I drain the carb bowls, sync the carbs, how many ounces of seafoam should he put in on a full tank and have him take a trip. I was thinking that 2 tanks of new fuel with seafoam should clean up the fuel system. My neighbor rode his new to him 86 VR home about 600 miles. Today I took a quick 30 minute ride. It needs the carbs synced up of which I can do, for I have a carb tune. I can tell by the throttle response and that it also back fires some and the back pressure at the exhaust is not really steady and strong. Your thoughts tks. We are going to go thru the rest of the VR as time permitts, but 1st wanted to get the carbs synced and fuel system cleaned up.

Carb Flooding ? So after I turn the key on and the fuel pump stops clicking, then I put the choke on, then I hit the starter. Before the engine has a chance to start, I hear fuel being dumped onto the cement floor. The last I checked is was 1 carb. I think it was the upper right carb. So can I conclude that this is a float issue and not related to any jet or needle?

Why not just look for an 86 VR where Yamaha fix the issue. An 86 can't cost that much more than an 84.

I've been good Mike. Work at Boeing is going good, except I'm feeling that I maybe pushed into early retirement, 3.5 years ahead of my plans. That would means that I would be taking a 35% cut retireing this year vs waiting the 3.5 years Health is doing good, My left hand is pretty much healed as best it can get. No one could tell except for my 3 inch surgury scar. Fine motor movements are a slight challenge. My next door neighbor sold his Harley and bought an 86 VR with 9700 miles and is riding it home Tuesday. When I get my tools organized, garage picked up and return from my short trip to see my daughter and grand kids, I plan on trying to get that 1 sticky carb fixed on my 89 VR. Thanks for asking.

Would using a M/C Trickle Charger keep a car battery charged, or maybe help keep it charged longer before needing a full charge? I have a couple extra older vehicles and sometimes they do not get run for a few months. By then the battery needs a charge. I know that one should not let a battery go too low for that shortens its total life span. I'm just hoping that by using a M/C Trickle Charger on a car battery would hekp keep its charge longer. I have a couple extra M/C Trickle chargers and was hoping not having to buy extra auto battery charger/maintainers.

Need MKI or MKII Left Mirror
GolfVenture replied to GolfVenture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I will take a look. He will be riding it back on Monday from his out of state purchase. Tks. -
Anyone have a Left Mirror for a 1st Gen. My friend who bought an 86 VR said the Left Mirror needs replaceing for the mirror wont stay put. That is all that needs replacing. His 86 VR has only 9700 miles and is in show room condition, except for this Left Mirror. So he is looking for one that is in really nice condition. He would like one that will polish up really nice to match his VR condition. I found one on ebay but one takes their chances on ebay as to the condition and how it will polish up. Thought I would give a member the opportunity to sell one first.

Are the Mirrors from the MKI & MKII interchangable & identical?

Hi All: My good buggy and neighbor just purchased an 86 VR with 10,000 miles. He is flying today and riding it back tomorrow. I need some quick recommendations from those who weight about 260 lbs. He is packing very light and 1 up. What tire air pressure should he put into the front and rear tires? What suspension air pressure should he put on the front and rear shocks. I dont believe it has progressive springs. Also when he returns, he plans on changing to AmsOil. Any recomendations on this? When he joins the club, I'll make sure he posts some pictures. It is a Beauty.....

Thanks Jeff, I'll see if i can locate some of that appliance cardboard box.

I'm needing some suggestions of a box to ship the right side cover of an MKII. To those that have shipped one, do you know where to get a good box or did you make a box?
