My wife asked me to take her shoes for new heals. The Shoe shop wanted $20. to put on new heals about 1 inch square and about 1/8 inch thick. After recently fixed some plastic tabs on my 89 VR, I thought hmmm. I wonder if PlasticX could fix her shoes. So I washed the heal and used masking tape around the heal making about 1/8 in high fence. Then pressed firmly on the tape where it stucked to the shoe so powder and chemical would not leak through and then pored the powder level to the top of the tape then started to add the droplets. Then I stired it to make sure that all the powder got disolved then did some minor adjustments as needed then propped the shoe level and let dry. The next day I filed the high spots and bingo, new heals. Time will tell how long it will last. The origional heal lasted 2 months.

My finger nail can definately feel the scratch, however the scratch is white in color. So I'm not understanding if clearcoat will cover up the scratch or not?

Accessory Wiring ?

I think this diagram shows it all. So if I follow this diagram and where it says Switched Power Source I hook it up to the Accessory screw in the fuse box. This will only allow the lights to work when the key is on. And then the lighted switch allows me the control to shut the lights off while the key is on and the light on the light switch will also work. The part I do not understand is why the relay is connected directly to the battery. I thought all the power was comming from the powered accessory. But I will follow the diagram. One last question. Is it ok to use thicker gage wire than what the drawing calls out for. I have some 12 AWG wire, rather than buying more wire.- 39 replies

I have 3 scratches and they are white in color. Being that my Venture is Maroon, does that mean my scratches are on the clearcoat? Where can one purchase more reasonable priced clearcoat with an applicator made for a thin scratch?

Fast-action scratch repair filler and sealer pen from Simoniz gives professional results without the hefty cost. I definately understand. I purchased a new 80 Goldwing. Then in 83 came my daughter, Leah. The Goldwing went. Then in 85 my son Tye. It has been 27 years later and in the last few years I kinda of gave up on the idea of getting back in the saddle. Then in June I picked up a nice 89 VR with only 24K. I did miss riding occasionally in the 27 years, however Leah & Tye has brought more fun, excitement and adventure. Your day will come again. -
How about listing the Veterans in your immediate family or there abouts. Son. Tye, age 25, Army (Active) -Sgt, Special Forces - Ft Lewis WA Daughter. Leah, age 27, USAF (Active) -1st Lt, Nurse - Travis AFB CA Oldest Brother - Deceased - US Marines - Viet Nam Younger Brother - Scott - USAF (10 Years) - Security - Youngest Brother - John - Navy (4 years) - USS (I'm not sure of the ship's name) Myself - USAF - (4 years)

It has been 27 years since I last put a helmet on, so I do not have must to compare it to. I bought the Series 2 for there were nice improvements over the Series 1.

So if I want the LED to light up when the switch is on, all I need to do is to provide a gournd to the 3rd connector. That is if I put the switch on the positive side.- 39 replies

With this good info, I do understand how to install the relay. I do want to add a manuel switch. I'd like to use the switch that came with the lights. It has 3 connectors. 1) Hot 2) Lights 3) for ground. This is where I'm not to sure if my thinking is correct. My though is that wheather I install the switch on the Positive or Negative side, that I would just need to use the connectors 1 & 2 of the switch. So which ever side I select I would cut the wire then put the 2 cut ends onto connectors 1 & 2 of the switch. Is that correct or not? I do not understand why using the positive side requires an additional wire. Nor do I understand the term 'Hot' leg run. Could you explain in laymans term please.- 39 replies

Hear a picture of this King Cobra. I do not think it is a radar detector because most detectors are positioned behind glass to pick up the signel. Unless radar signels can go thru the fairing to be detected. The thought that it maybe an alarm sounds reasonable. I'm expecting that it will be a few days before I hear back from eithor the origional or 2nd owner.

The Rear Brake Lever has two white washers. Mine shows several bad looking cracks, as if the piecies would fall apart if I took it apart. I looked them up and it looks like the 2 parts I need are the following: It can be found under Stand Footrest. 1) Part 68 - COLLAR 90387-06701-00 2) Part 70 - WASHER,PLATE 90201-100A1-00 I took the part 69 Nut Crown 90176-10073-00 off thinking part 70 would come off easily, but it did not. My question is, has others replaced theirs, or is it something to not bother with. The brake pedel does works fine.

It has 2 thin blue wires that goes to a small plastic box with an led display, when you turn on the key an I or a 1 shows up on the left. The small box has the word King Cobra on it. There are about 8 or so more wires, the same size as the small blue wires, that connects to it. I contacted the seller and he is going to contact his friend the origional owner. Hopefully he'll remember.

I have an 89 VR and there is a little round, dome, red light on my faring, just to the right of the Cassette cover near the open vents that are around the handlebar. Can someone tell me what it is for. It is the size of maybe the diameter of a 10 gage wire. The Venture is a standard VR so there are no add on accessories. I checked the manuel with no luck.

VR Trunk Mirror Bolts
GolfVenture replied to GolfVenture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thank You. I got it back together. I do have a suggestion for others. When I disassembled the mirror. I took the 4 nuts off, then came off the 4 metal washer, then came off the 4 flexible rubber washers. Then the Mirror came off. As the Mirror came off is when the 4 bolts fell behind the back rest. When I reassembled, with the back rest off I put the 4 mirror screws in thru the back of the trunk and then immediately put the 4 flexible rubber washers on the mirror screws inside the trunk. I screwed the rubber washers until the screw was tight against the trunk. In the way when I take the mirror off in the future the rubber washers will keep the 4 mirror screws from falling into the back rest. Then I reassembled everything back to gether..
