I need some clearification. I'm hearing that the retangular one from Saber Cycle does not snap together due to the extra thickness of the windshield and therefore require some sanding so the two pieces snap together and then some silicone. Does the OEM Goldwing vent also require extra sanding for both the 1st and 2nd gen VRs.

I'd be interested in where you purchase the vent. What about water leaking thru when closed in the rain?

They are super nice looking patches. The picture has all the sizes. 3 1/2" 5 3/4" 7" 9" The 3/1/2" inch wide is great for a baseball hat size. Plus if you want a very specific width side, they can be accommodiated. Just specify the width in inches. The prices will be a bit higher than specified in the other threads for I under estimated PalPal fees and postages fees plus the number in orders I'm guessing will be less in quantity but they will still be a great value.

Just in time. This past Saturday was the best day for a ride in the Seattle area. It got into the mid 60s, blue sky, and my VR still not running. I woke up early to give it one last try before heading for Church. I drained each carb to test the fuel pump, and the fuel pump does work. I took out one plug and grounded it and yes it does spark good. Then I heard that dreadful sound of fuel coming out the overflow again. I looked down and yep. Not again, blankety blank float. So I finished testing the other 3 plugs for spark and yes all the plugs are good. And yes I was doing this out side and waited for the gas to evaporate before testing each plug. I then in record time took the air cleaner box off and emptyed the drain bolt from carb # 2 for that was the carb's float that was stuck initially. I took the 18 gage wire and lifted the float a few times and then put it all back together. In record time but then it was only my 2nd time doing this. Oh I did read up on all the issue on the challenges so many had in getting the breather hose back on. My first time I was scrathing my head for I could see the challege. Then I thought well I'll put the breather hose on the aircleaner and position the lock clip correctly, then kinda of wiggle and guide the breather tube where it belongs and in a couple of minutes the air cleaner slipped into it place. Then I positioned the other end of the hose over the breather tube and with a long flat file I was able to slip the hose onto the tube. The file's teeth helped grip the hose. Then I took my long thin trangler file and pushed the lock clip onto position. All done in about 15 minutes. Tighten the 4 carb screws. Kind of firguering that it may take a few cranking of the engine to get it started, I put the battery charger on 50amps. It took some cranking and a few shots of starter fluid my VR came to life. On my ride to Chuch, I could tell that my heal toe shifer was loose so I pulled over and tighten it. But it kept coming loose about ever 5 miles. Hmm must have left a part off over the winter project. Made it to Church and found some duct tape. I better put a role of duct take in my trunk when I get home. My ride home was much more enjoyable. VR ran just like it did when I rode it home from Sacramento. If anyone has a parts list and the instructions of parts installation sequence for the heal toe shifer, I'd appreciate it. I know the tank petcock is open for I probably went through a couple of quarts of fuel during my stuck float issue. I will tmorrow undo the carb bowl screw on each carb then turn the key on to see if the fuel pump clicks. And I will remove each plug and ground them and test for spark. Tks for the advise.

Thanks. I had it in gear. Put the Kill switch on Run, choked it, Hit the starter, starter turns over. But now won't fire. It has been pretty much sitting all winter long. I'm not hearing the fuel pump clicking like I used to when I was clearing my stuck float. Any Suggestions?

If you remember me with the stuck float, I've got it unstuck and tested by activating the kill switch. No more fuel out the overflow. Got it all back together. Now the Starter won't turn over. Kill switch is on Run. Lights and horn works. The last time the starter turned over was when I was turning the engine over trying to unstick the float. Open to suggestions.

Ebay item 220743622068 $26.50 per set including shipping. If you do some research and look them up you can hear a test sounds on many horns. I found these just as loud as the Stebel Air Horns. I selected to go the electric route for I read that water sometimes can damage air horns. But if you position the sir horns on correctly you should be just fine. I put 4 on so I can be heard front , rear and both sides. I mounted a set on the rear bag crash bars. And I Installed the High Low so which ever position the cars are at from me the driver will get a direct blast from a set of High and Low Combined. They are absolutely awsome.

Anyone know where it is on the 1st Gen?

While working on another project I found a loose connector with a red wire about the size of telephone wire and traced it back into the left faring compartment where there is an in line fuse. So I took the end and touched it to the positive battery terminal and a very high pitch beep when off for one quick beep. This must be the alarm's positive wire. I found the beep speaker velcored on the left inner side of the faring near the front forks. So with the red wire hooked to the positive terminal I turned the handel bar and locked it with the key. A Red light on the far left of the LED goes on the alarm box inside the faring. Then a few seconds later the red dome light as initially discribed in this thread goes on. So I then giggled the VR hoping to set the alarm off but nothing. Any one have any thought as to what might need fixen.

Could you describe how to locate this vent line or a picture please.

So I'm sure all my batteries are the acid type. 1)Then are the regular battery chargers the correct ones to use? 2)And so can something be added to prolong the life of an acid type battery?

I think I'm going to need a new battery soon for even tho it charges good but the voltages seems to drop pretty quickly when testing lights. Are there any chemicals one can add while the battery is heathy to revitialize the battery. I though something could be added to clean the lead in the battery. Also I have several trickle 1 amp chargers for 2 jet skis, 1 riding mower. 1 Sears 1amp/2amp charger for my VR. And I have three good sears 2amp/10amp/50amp chargers for my RV and Boat and additional cars. I though a battery charger is a battery charger. Can some one suggest to me what I might be doing that might be bad for my batteries?

So are you saying when one opens the gas cap and one hears a vacum of air that ones vent is pluged?
