The Chrome End Nut on my heal toe shifter keeps loosening. Looking for the right fix. I've attached two pictures. 1st of the Heal Toe shifter and shaft, 2nd the Chrome End Nut. I had this appart this last winter and can't seem to find all the right pieces. My thought would be to get a thin metric nut with nylon locking threads to keep the nut from loosening against the Heal Toe shifter. Then lastly put the chrome end nut on. Open to suggestions.

Cleaning The Aluminum

Is there anything else besides applying a lacquer coating for protection? -
If coastal weather is bad, then more chance of Sunshine if you go Central Oregon. There is Crater Lake. There is also a beautiful Indian Reservation Resort Called Kah-Nee-Ta in Warms Springs http://206.188.205.152/pools-hot-springs-water-slides-oregon, Of couse there is a Casino, Golf, you name it, it has it all. Hmm, I should have created my user name as GolfCasinoVenture. Cross into Washington near The Dalles, Oregon. Then to Yakima and then up the Okanagon Hwy into Canada then hang a left to Vancouver BC. If you have time stop by Grand Coulee Dam and catch the evening lazer light show. The Okanagon Hwy is absolutely a long, long, long beautiful ride. I've not traveled the hwy to Vancouver from the Okanagon Hwy but while you are still in Washington, near Omak just before the border you could take the North Cascade Hwy to I-5 then to Anacortes, then to the ferries then to Vancouver BC.

Proper Voltage Reading
GolfVenture replied to GolfVenture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I like the idea of better lighting from LEDs inaddtion to putting less stress on the battery. So I'm concluding that some of the members have had 100% success on replacing to LEDs. If so then I'd like to do that also as long as all it means is to just swap out to LEDs: I have an Auto Zone, and O'Reilys and NAPA close by. So can someone provide the exact LED replacements for the following: 1) Combination Brake Lamp / Running Lamp 2) 6 Dash Lamps. I'm presuming that all 6 are equal What about the actual 4 main Turn Signal bulbs. I take it that those can't be simply swaped out. I do not want to do any rewiring. -

Venture Patch - Iron On & Wash Instructions
GolfVenture replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks, I'll pass it on to the manufacture. -
These are the Instructions provided by the manufacture. How to iron a patch. Lay a piece of thin cotton cloth onto a patch. Turn your iron on 175 C /cotton/ and press /don't move the iron-just press/ during 15-20 sec. Big patches please start pressing form the center to the edges of a patch. After this please press once again edges of a patch - about 5 sec. Please use only good quality iron-we advise you against using poor Chinese irons, because they don't keep a property temperature. Please pay attention to all plastic elements in a nearby of a patch-hot iron may damage them!!! First washing of the pressed patch can take place after 48 hrs-max. washing temperature - 90 C. This iron-on patch can be iron onto cotton, all synthetic clothes, leather and some synthetic leather.

I recently installed a voltage meter. It has a stock Stator. It has a non AGM battery. My question is what should be the approximate proper reading when: 1) At an idel of about 900 rpms 2) At running speed of say 65 mph in 5th gear 3) After a 24 hour charge with a 2 amp battery charger. What mininum voltage reading should I be concerned with. My 89 VR has the standard lights with the addition of a set of Wallmart Plattium Burners (55 watt). I heard many postings to swap out to 35 watts, with a couple that says that 55 watts are ok. I thought that if I knew the proper voltage reading that the reading would determine if I need to go to the 35 watts. I do have several LEDs on. 4 Turn signals, 2 additional stop lights all from Custom Dynamics, but being that they are not all the time and they are LEDs thought they would have mininum inpact.

Correction that was little league not T-ball.
-
Yep I rememeber my son in T-Ball. He played right field. He be picking dandalions, or swating bees with his glove the 1st year. I come out to watch him and to be an unofficial assistance coach each year. The years go by so soon and it was my sons last year in T-Ball and the league needed 1 more coach. Someone suggested me and so I accepted. Never coached anything before. Guess the first time for everything. It was the last game of the season and we may have won a game or two. This last game we were underdogs again. It was the last inning, the bases were loaded, 2 outs and were down by 3 runs. The young boy coming to bat was our clean up batter. After this batter the line up was not our strength. I can't recall what the count was but I called time out. The batter's name was Pat and so I said to Pat. Pat it really does not matter if you get an base safely. We need 3 runs to tie or 4 to win. So I told him that if he is going to swing, to swing with everything hes got. We really had nothing to loose in trying. Then just run as hard as you can and as you approach each base try to keep an eye on my signals. Most likely I'll wave you on. On the next pitch he hits the ball really hard. It was a line drive that easily got past the in field and eventually reached the back fence. Needless to say, he hit an infield grand slam and easily made it home beating the throw. When we all heard the crack of the bat the entire team jumped of the bench and with their faces pressed against the chain link dug out were all yelling, screaming, jumping up and down. What a way to end the season. It was party time at the Pizza place. This young man Pat, is currently serving in the US Army. Each time Pat gets deployed the family puts a New Bright Yellow Ribbon on their flag pole. There is only one other young man from the team that I have heard of. His name is Blane Larson who was my starting pitcher. If any of you listen to Country Music, you may have heard of him.

My choke level on my 89 VR moves to the left really, really hard. Any suggestions as to what I might spray into the cable. My 1st guess would be WD 40?

I rode from Buckley to South Prairie to Ohop Lake to Eatonville to Alder Lake State Park. Checked out a couple of camping sites then back. Put some more Seafoam and toped off the gas tank. VR ran perfect.

Just a couple of suggestion You might look into swinging by Alki Beach as you go past Seattle. From Alki Beach you can look over Elliot Bay and see the Seattle Skyline. Here is an evening picture. It be a nice backgound picture of you, your wife and bike. Just be warn of traffic during rush hour. http://www.terragalleria.com/images/us-nw/uswa6085.small.jpeg Then there are the Twin Tacoma Narrows Bridge on hwy 16. A tole on the way back. http://ts2.mm.bing.net/images/thumbnail.aspx?q=677262131565&id=0cf900f4c61b5254567156ba92b5aaa5 Rush hour traffic warning also.

I've read up on a couple of threads on Cold Blooded for after my VR sat for 5 days it had a very tough time starting and to keep running and getting warmed up. It must have taken 5 minutes or more for the temp gage to just start moving up. I did not ride it but let it warm up to normal operating temp. Now this morning about 24 hours later my VR started right up and in about 1 minute I could put the choke off. So what would make the difference between 1 day sitting and 5 days sitting? I'm in the Seattle area and even tho we are almost in May, It hailed in Buckley yesterday, so it was quite cold last night around 37 degrees. Just wondering being that I'm trying to get a feel as to how often I should start the VR up being that I'm not a daily rider or even a weekly rider being that I work 26 days on and 2 days off. At this time I'll probably at least start the VR up once a week. I'm not trying to be too pickey but I thought that 5 days without running it should start right up.

May is kinda of soso for weather, hopefully you will hit it lucky. If you ride thru Tacoma on I-5 in the morning I might be able to ride along for a few miles for I work in the afternoon.

Info If you are interested See thumbnail attached at the beginning of this thread. Sizes are 3 1/2; 5 3/4; 7; 9 all in inches. Special sizes can be accomodiated, just specify the width in inches. Price depends on the group quantity of patches ordered. Sample pricing for a single 7 inch patch including shipping $10.00 The other patches will be a little less and a little more, but not much. The quality is quality is exxcellent and the pricings is a great value.

Venture Patches has all been mailed.

Frank, I'm concluding that you got an OEM. And as a result you did not have to any customization to accomodiate thickness of the Yamaha windshield?
-
Could ask about the thickness of the Goldwing windshield?

OK, I'll just type it out. "Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So if you give her any crap, be ready to recieve a ton of ****"

Does anyone have a Goldwing Vent part number (being that there are several) that fits a 1st Gen VR winshield WithOut having to sand/thin the two halfs like one does with the one from Saber Cycle. The $20 extra dollars isn't worth the extra effort.
