I would like to try the Dyna Beads, however I would also like to use Ride On. I'm thinking that the two do not work well together. I've read Ride On also balances the tire also. I search on Ride On but no hits. So does anyone have an opinion on Ride On?

Its got to be so inspiring to young kids to see such a plane as the B2 to want to do that when they grow up. I worked on the B2 IT system that kept track of the composites freezer and oven data. Once I was in the factory building up high where I could see about 10 B2s in an assembly line in various stages, and impressive site but not as impressive as this fly by. Thanks for the video. My son, Army Special Forces, has mentioned how great it is to have the finest and best Air Force in the world. Thank your son for his service. Just wondering if he is an AFA grad. If so what year?

Does the same Spin-On-Oil Filter adaptor fit both the 89 and 91 VR. Are there any special tools needed? Are there any special instruction tips? Are there any thing to be carefull of?

I currently own an 89 VR and am very happy with it. I really thought this VR would take me into the sunset for it only has 26,500 miles on it. Then I found a 91 VR with only 6700 miles from the origional owner. I just couldn't pass it up. So I purchased it and plan on transfering all my accessories from the 89 to the 91 and plan on selling the 89 probably spring of 2012 for it will take some time to move all the accessories over. But for the right reasons I could keep both VRs but then that would mean 2 licenses fee, 2 insurance, that is if I plan on riding both. But I do not see why for the 2 are the same bike. I do see many of you have multi MKIs or multi MKIIs, and so I'm courious as to the following questions: 1) Why do you have two of the same make and model and sometimes the same year. 2) What made you initially decide to pick up the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and so on VR. 3) Does all of your VRs acturally run Some answers could be the following 1) Have too much money 2) Picked up the other VR as a parts bike then decided to fix it up. 3) Because they are old and consider Collectables. 4) Only one of my VR runs all the others are parts bike. Please do not limit to the above reasons. Thanks

Removing 1st Gen Engine retangular side covers ???
GolfVenture replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
Well I sprayed some penetrating spray and couldn't wait till tomorrow. I Taped lightly one way then taped lightly the other way. Kind of like doing head bolts. About the 3rd cycle I felt the screw give oh so slightly. I got them off. Thanks everyone. -
Whats the proper way of removing the 4 retangular engine side covers. They are the ones that go right on the outside of each Cylinders. I have one of those hand held impact drivers but am a bit concerned about the transfer of the impact from the hammer to the cylinder walls.

I found a perfect size hose that fits the plug wall. It was my lung breathing hose exercizer used after my heart surgery to expand and open my lungs. I duct taped it to my shop vac with duct tape creating a wind tunnel affect. The shop vac pulled it off the bottom and stuck it inbetween the wall and spark plug hex nut to where I could just get to it. After changing out the plugs started the VR let it warm up took the choke off. I was expecting the idel rpm to be the normal 1000 but it was about 500 like it was yesterday. I hit the throttle and the VR revs then dies as I kept the throttle open. Same thing happens with the choke. Ok so I'm back to the engine performance as if it was running on 3 cylinders like yesterday, only yesterday the VR ran fine only with less performance and the engine had kind of an air sucking sound at all revs whether it was ideling or running at 4000 rpms. I just called "Came Home on 3 cylinder" for that was a guess. Today after warm up, when I hit the throttle it revs slow then dies immediately when I keep the throttle open. If I quickly shut the throttle down it would go to an idel at about 500 rpm. It would seem that the problem is probably not a specific cylinder issue but something that affects all the cylinders. So Condor (Jack) and I talked and decided that it seems to be starving for fuel. So I will install a new fuel filter. I will also purchase an infer red gadget at Harbor freight that records the temperture. As part of my tool set. Open to other suggestions.

Oh yes. I saw it. It is one of those wire connectors (female end) only 2/3 were cut off for I need a shorter one so I hacksawed it off. I almost got it then it fell all the way down to the very bottom. Obviously I dropped one. I wonder if it may have shorted the plug during my ride. Oh well. My luck it is made out of aluminum so it is not magnetic. I can move it around. Guess I should be thankful that it initially prevented me from getting the plug out, for it could have droped into the cylinder had I been able to get the plug out. Lesson learned and that is I will use the mirror accessory that came with my magnetic reacher and take a look before removing any more plugs in the future. It is really hard to lay on the floor looking up into the mirror then with my other hand with a wire try to hook onto the connector. I will try using my yard blower and see if it will blow out, or if I can get a flex hose about the opening of the area and vacume it out with a shop vac after duck taping the two ends. Open to other suggestions. I might try a very small fishing hook and leader and go bottom fishing.

I'm in the process of changing out the spark plugs. First I removed the right rear. But the front right is giving me heck. I can't even get the spark plug wrench to grip the spark plug head. I have mens small hands and I can easly turn the spark plug so it can slide over the plug. I've tried both ends of the plug wrench where one end has the rubber piece to grip the plug tightly while the other end does not so it can easily go over the plug all the way down. I took a piece of wire to see if there might be something down there that would prevent the plug wrench to slide over, nothing. I changed plugs early this year and had no issues. I'm a back yard mechanic but this is ridicules. Any suggestion?

My wife suggested that I keep the 89 around for a parts bike. The last time I mentioned a parts bike for maybe $500.00 she had a cow. My 89 VR is a nice VR and has at least 100,000 miles more before even being consider a parts bike. Maybe I should just agree, in that way when my 91 is in maintenance mode I'd have my 89 to ride. But then if I add an accessory on one I would probably want to add it to the other. Then I would need 2 parts bike. Now I see how some members have several VRs in their corral

On Friday, 9/9/2011, around 1:30 pm I was behind a 1st Gen at the off ramp of Hwy 599 n Interurban Ave S. making a left turn so I pulled up along side. He said that his is an 85 and recently purchased it and also is a new member of Venture Rider. Just want to say hello.

It was running great for about 30 minutes. When I got a chance to hammer down and open her up I did. The power sure feels good. Then all of a sudden the VR was not as responsive and not as smooth. But it still ran ok up to speed. Got home and I started it up and felt the pressure at the exhaust. The right side seems to produce a little less pressure. It seem to start right up. Now before I started the ride I filled the tank and put about 5 oz of Seafoam for my plans are that when I got home I would fill the tank up again and put more Seafoam then it would pretty much sit for several months. Of course I would start it up to normal running temperture once a month. This is because I just purchased a 91 VR with less than 7000 miles on it. I was going to take all the accessories/goodies of my 89 VR and put them on the 91. So my troubleshooting plans are to do the following: 1) Pull each plug and see what the plugs tell. Put my backup set in, run the VR 2) The Seafoam may have loosen some carb gunk and so I was going to open the bowel drain screw. Then also unscrew the carb bowl drain plug. If anyone has some better trouble shooting suggestions, I'd be greatful.

Question 1) I'm needing 1 Enricher/Choke for my MK2 and ebay has some but they came off an MK1. Are they the same and is $25.oo a reasonable price. Question 2) The outside tip broke off on mine (I purchased the VR that way). I was thinking of drilling a small hole and putting a brass screw so the choke would pull it out. Is that something that would be recommended?

In my bag of VR misc nuts and bolts I found a matching bolt. What comes to mind is that I have 2 bolts for the seat but those bolts looks like something that I may have bought from a hardware store. Oh well, so I installed the two newly founded bolts into the seat and will call it good.
-
I just discovered that the outer end part of one of my Enricher/Choke is broken off. Anyone have a parts carb I could get one from? 89 VR.
-
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! I know it funny but the bolt looks pretty important. It be different if it was a washer or something insignifcant. I wouldn't feel like wandering very far from home.

Got the turnsignal / flasher fixed and all back together. And everything works. Engine is warming up right now. Thank you all for the help. But I need some more help. This one bolt, I do not know where it came from. It fits a 12 mm socket. I took the headlight out to get to some of the electricial. I took the steering cover off. I took the Air Compressure unit out, with the fairing cover so I could remove the flasher switch. I took the 2 side covers off. I took the seat out, but it is now back on with the 2 seat bolts. Any ideas?
-
Well I had to unhook some electricial in the headlight area.
