  1. I want to put some some small 55 watt plattuiem burners on the mirror brackets for my 91 VR. Being that the PTT switch by the left grip is not used for I use blue tooth, I would like to activate the Burners by the PTT switch as a signal. Also I would like to put a regular lighted toggle switch to activate the Burners for longer use. I plan on using a relay. My thoughts are that I can do this, but would like conformation that I would not be creating a electricial problem.
  2. I like to know what type of aheasive is best to use to put a new Venture Emblem on the Red Reflector of the rear trunk (91 VR)?
  3. Ok, I have plenty of time for winter is soon comming and these two items are my winter projects. Thanks for the update.
  4. Anyone knows the where abouts of skydoc_17. I've sent 2 pm's requesting information on the fuse kit and progressive springs but no answer.
  5. Yep, Talked to Al. I got one. Thanks.
  6. Anyone have one of these you would like to get rid of. Eithor side would do. http://thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/m/mDEiy1nIJEDDfzXM_wEgYCA/140.jpg
  7. What important kinds of questions do I ask about a battery to determine if it would be what this group would approve of. There is a craigslist add in the Seattle area for new batteries for $50.00. 8. $12 a year, or $1 a month, or .033333 cents per day. Let me see I'm on this site every single morning, afternoon and evening. Best 3 cents spent. Besides getting the best Venture M/C help. You get creative new ideas, great jokes, videos. Once can ask any question on pretty much any topic and get some good response.
  9. Thanks FussyRSTD: I think that is the best advise for me.
  10. For those who have MKII what idel RPM setting do you like and why or is there just one recommended RPM idel setting. Also where is the idel setting screw?
  11. I was thinking about getting one of these. 120 Amp MIG/Flux Wire Welder with Wheels from Harbor Freight. I've never welded before. Is welding something that one can learn from a home video or should one attend a class or should it be left to someone that has been welding for a few years.
  12. This morning I took of both collectors and saw that both does have the gasket. So it must be the clamp. I put the clamp in a vise and bent the neck of the clamp so that the clamp could be tighten a bit more. That did the trick. After seeing the Gasket, yep Im sure I could have made a gasket out of Brass for less than $2.00 instead of the Dealers $25.00 and still have material to make a few more.
  13. Bought a couple of used parts and check the dealer price. Wow.... I wonder what a MKII would cost part by part at the dealers. Anyone knows this trivia? Or want to take a guess?
  14. The dealer wants $25.00 for an Exhaust/Collector gasket. I'm thinking of making one. I'm looking for copper sheet but so far can only find brass, aluminum, zinc sheets. Was wondering if anyone knew if one should stay away from brass, aluminum or zinc. I will be checking Home Depot and Lowes tomorrow for copper sheets for I was told that the earlier years the exhaust gasket were made from copper, but the newer ones are some sort of silver color material. Welcome any comments.
  15. Heat Gun. Hmmmm. Don't think I have one of those. How about a hair dryer?
  16. Well that was just too easy. Only the 2 acron nuts inside the rear of each side bags are the only ones to take off. Now that I got it off, I can see that there is room for lights in this reflector. I'll take it up to the auto shop and see if there is an easy solution to adding some lights. Well then this got me looking at the Trunk reflector. I took off the 3 screws on the back of the bottom trunk thinking that would allow me to remove the Reflector. Well it did not. I tried to pry it off with a little force but did not come off. Anyone know how to take the Reflector off the upper rear trunk.
  17. I wish I was going to add lights to it for I did see a posting on it that someone did a couple years ago but there were no write ups on it. Those lights are awsome. Love to do the same to mine. I'm just swaping it out with the 89 VR for the 91 has a oh so slight of a chip on the edge and the 91 is going to me my pride and joy. 6700 miles on it and most everything looks new and bright. No one would ever notice the chip, but I know it is there.
  18. Yes on the relay for each. I will use 14 gage for the Horns and 16 gage for the lights. This way I can tell the difference if need to trouble shoot later. I will use 15amps fuses for each. Thanks to All again.
  19. I'm hooking up 2 acessories and would like to know what gage wire and fuse to use on each? Hooking up a set of 55 watt Plattieum Burners driving lights. Hooking up 4 of these horns STEBEL MAGNUM DUAL TONE MOTORCYCLE HORNS MHS-22 CHROME Also
  20. I need to remove the Reflector with the word Yamaha in it. It is located between the two side bags at the rear/bottom. Can someone provide some general steps of instructions so I do not dismantle things that are not needed. I tend to do that alot, remove things that are not needed.
  21. Thank You for the foil tape and muffler patch suggestions. I'll stop at the auto store tomorrow.
  22. Maybe it might not be 1/2 to1 in loose. But it is loose. looking at the exhaust schemetic, looks like there is an exhaust gasket that might have not been isntalled during initial assembly. VR only has 6700 miles on it. I'll look again tomorrow morning but when I looked today I didn't see one. Looks like they are about $20 from the dealers. Anyone have an extra Exhaust gasket?
  23. My right muffler on the 91 VR is loose. I grab the tail pipe and the entire unit easily moves side to side 1/2 to 1 inch. I've tighten the bolt to the frame, and I've tighten the clamp at the juncture point. It appears that the movement is at the clamp for the juncture point. I've taken the entire right muffler off at the juncture point for the muffle and the end of the exhaust pipe all look good. The nut/bolt and clamp has more room to tighten but it is tight on the muffler. To go much tighter I would break the bolt. The left side is tight. On my 89 VR both left and tight muffler are tight and snug. Could there be a missing sleeve/spacer the goes over the end of the exahust pipe but inside the muffler? Also I noticed 5 lub fittings while I was under the VR. Before I grease them are there any more? Also any special type of greese reommended?
  24. So what do you use in replace of Ride-On?
  25. An 1986 V.R. with 237112 miles. Maybe this organization should create a Pass Around Trophy and present it to the one with the most official miles on the speedometer at the end of the year . Then Pass it on respectivelly yearly. Well in this case you'll proabaly be keeping it for a few years or more like decades.
