After researching all the options I went with the Drift HD 170 Camera. I have not used it a lot this summer for I've not riden much due to working 28 days on 2 days off. Then my daughters wedding. If you compare it to the Go Pro and the Contour the Drift jumped out ahead with more state of the are features. One thing I liked is the off and on remote control I put on the handle bars. Just one thing I have not gotten used to yet is with gloves on it is hard to tell if I pushed it hard enought to turn it onn or off. They should have put a light on it. Green for recording and red for stop or something like that. Picture is nice and clear. I used it for my daughters wedding and it worked great on a tripod. I also liked the extra mic accessory. Being that the internal mic is muffeled so not to pick up all that wind noise. That means that the sound pick up is not really loud when using for a normal video camera, but still sufficient. The external mic picks up great. I bought mine from Revzilla for they they had a special when the Drift 1st came on the market and they give a $5 rebate for each $100 you spend and I bought Tour Master suit for my wife so I was able to get the external mic and cover free from the rebate. The LED is also nice which the others do not have. I've read that the Go Pro is like going back to DOS in the computing world. Not very user friendly. The one draw back for the Drift is that it is not water proof but rather water resistence. Good enough for rain but not if submerged into water very far. I had to use white ink to mark for the rating lense for my helmet that I hooked on the side so I knew where to set it for the helmet. Do the research and I think you'll aslo choose the Drift. If you wait a while I'm sure that the competitor will be more competitive with their features. But I could not get any committments from the other vendors as to when they were going to have their upgraded product on the market. I'm guessing that they would have to make a new camera and so it could be a while. I'd be interested in what you select. Ask me questions and I'll try to answer them.

Yes the steering head can hold 8 switches. One has to be a little creative during the installation, so when turning the steering clears the wires and terminals. I did the switches this way on my 89 VR for I did not want to drill any holes in the fairing. Also I'm not to creative in making switch brackets and boxes like some have done. Took me a while before the idea came to me. On my 89VR I had the following switches. 1) Platium Burners. 2) Electronic Deer Alert 3) Front white Custom Dynamics LED flush against the grill below the headlight to act as a modulator with a flasher. 4) Custom Dynamics Sequential Night Rider Red LED in the rear. 5) Amp Meter. 6 Custom Dynamics 5 Color Phycho Accent Light I will install the above after I put on Progressive Spring after Christ-mas. I also want to put a GW vent in the windshield once I understand all the details.

88 venture carb sync question
GolfVenture replied to masterofyard's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well this maybe out in right field but this summer my 89 all of a sudden had 1/2 the power. Checked a lot of things but one advise was to get one of those Infer Red Temp gage and hit each exhaust with it about about 30 seconds from a cold start. The back 2 cylinders were not firing good. While the front 2 cyclinders got up to 100 degrees, one of the back cylinder was reading 65 and the other 80 degrees. Then as I was moving the plug wire the engine all of a sudden perked up. I reported this and the suggestion was to remove the plug cap and snip off a little of the wire until good copper could be seen. I did that to both and no problems since. -
Why do some cover up the licenses plate before showing a picture of their bike?

Ok, I'll look into the steering soon. Thanks everyone.

Front tire has about 700 miles on it. I did this last summer buy a HF tire balancer. Good time for me to learn how to use it.

It has a super brace and I just recently checked the bolts and they are tight. My 91 VR only has 6800 miles on it. Bought it about a month ago from the origional owner. It is in beautiful condition. I'll look into the steering soon. Meanwhile with the additional infomation I've provided about the 91 VR what other things could cause this.

Went for a short ride today and needed to let go of the handel bars. Doing about 40mph +, when it got down to 35mph the bars shook from left to right very agressively. Another couple more seconds I think I would have crashed. I've only riding probably less than 2000 miles in two years and most of it was at 55mp or faster. So this caught me by surprised. Prior to then it has been 27 years since I've riden. I put 32 psi in the front and I think 47 psi in the back just a couple days ago. As for Air shock pressure I put it about 18 front and I think about 55 rear just yesterday. I'm 170 lbs and riding single with about 5 lbs of luggage. I read another thread about shakey bars but it was referring to after changing bar grips with related to weights. Mine has stock rips. Anyone know what I need to look at?

I've been a Vikings fan since the late 60's Wish they would win one before I die.

I've been hearing about these three for sometime now and, some use a battery tender, some use a battery maintainer and some use a battery charger. What is the difference. Spock: "A Difference That Make No Difference Is No Difference"

My 85 Brown Fox may be dead...
GolfVenture replied to PBJ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Looking at your pictures of the Brown Fox, she looks to be in nice condition. Too bad the fix is so expensive. If you part it out. I'd be interested in the relay 41R-71. It is located right behind the headlight in the upper cavity. -

Was wondering if anyone has installed a chrome side lid protector of a Royale Star onto a Venture Royale?

I've had this happen in a car, but first time on a bike.

My mother of 80, had a situation where she was in a 3 car fender bender. The police was called by someone other than my mother. My mother was cut off from a car in the lane left of her as this car made a quick right turn in front of her into the Kmart parking causing her to brake. My mother was up set and turned the corner at the next intersection got out but no one came. So she drove home and told me that someone hit and run her. So I reported the accident and then found out what the police reported my mother is being charged with hit and run for the damage showed that the other person had established lane change position. Well a long story shortened. The Police Officier said that unless one of the other two parties calls back to see if my mother the offending person has been identified nothing will come of this hit and run charge on my mother. The Officer was understanding and said that he did not think that neithor of the other 2 persons would call back for they had no licenses and insurance. And the story ended happily for my mother. -
Backing up on incline or gravel surface

How about a small electric come-along that hooks to the ball of a hitch. Hmmm I kinda of like that idea. I think a trip to HF is due.
