  1. Is there a time expiration for ordering or is this is an open offer until a new price is negotiated?
  2. I used an impact driver to remove the 3 philips screw and the vise grips to remove the other security screw. Of course there was one security screw that I could not get a good grip and I had to work on it for some time. Finally got it out. I'm going to replace them with SS allen heads. I wanted to see the condition of the diaphrams to see if I need to order a new set. But all 4 looked looked really good, for being 20 years old, but then it only has 6700 miles on it and always stored in a heated garage. Soon I'll be ready to attempt my 1st carb sync using sky_doc17s procedure.
  3. Tampering? What are they trying to prevent? Is there some performance enhancement they are trying to prevent?
  4. Each diaphram cover has 4 screws. The upper right screw seen to take a star or allen wrench while the other 3 are Philips head. But I can't tell for the screw seems to have a center tip the stick out preventing the tool to slid into the head. Is there such a tool with a center hole?
  5. If we all tried to buy North American where we can, that starts the ball rolling. Made in Japan started the ball rolling out of North America about 50 to 60 years ago. What would our countries economies, import/export look like 50 to 60 years from now? It is a war of economics. Ask yourself whose side are you on and are you willing to make some sacrifices. I'm hearing more of this topic everyday and so the ball is rolling. Let us do our part for your neighbors, for yourself, for your children and grand children’s and great great great grand kid.
  6. I had to check your profile Eck. Yep an Engineer and worked for Boeing / Airbus and in SC. Made me want to cry, felt like I was at work again. Try to forget about work on the weekends. Oh wait I have to go in today and tomorrow.
  7. Great thanks, I'll locate one.
  8. Anyone know where one can get stainless steel or chrome channeled U shape long bracket (The U channel be 1 in X 1 in X 1 in and about the length of the rear trunk mount) where it could be mounted under the far rear of the trunk mount so the open end is to the front on the bike and the closed end is facing the rear of the bike where I could install from Custom Dynamics Sequential Amber LED Turn Signals on the ends and in the center a Custom Dynamics LED Stop Lamp. Then under the bracket I could install a couple of white lights hooked to a push switch where I can get the attention of cagers approaching dangerously. Even an L shape bracket would work. Or maybe someone has a good suggestion as to where one could mount the lights described, except drilling into the plastic trunk for an MKII.
  9. Watch this link on Foreign Seafood. http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/835.html Also my wife said that Hallmark Cards are made in China. So she now buys American Greetings, made in the America. We Did Change The World About 50 Years Ago By Buying, Made In Japan, One Purchase At a Time. We Can Change The World Again, Yes We Can. One Purchase At a Time. Buy Made in America or Made in Canada.
  10. Actually I was just being silly when I said. "Darn I always buy to early". I'm usually the opposite. I will use what I Purchased far past its normal useful days, then I will upgrade. Before I bought the Drift HD 170 I was still using my Video camera that uses tape.
  11. I recently purchased a used Roto Cover. I took it all apart and cleaned it up nicely including all the electric contacts. Each side has 2 pushin light bulbs. When putting it back together I noticed that the light bulbs have some differences. I've included a picture of the light bulbs. One has a blue dot in the center and a blacker tip where it pushes into the socket. My question is, are the differences of any concerns as to which one goes into which socket. A 2nd picture is attached of the sockets. One of the sockets has an extra wire that I think is the ground.
  12. Ok, what do I do to Add in load resistors to get the flash rate back down.
  13. How do you do the following: You will need to jumper the CMU so that it does not give constant warnings about burned out tail and brake bulbs. (How does one Jump the CMU) The turn signals will flash really fast if you just put in the LED bulbs. There are 3 options 1. Live with the fast flash. Some people here like it fast. 2. Add in load resistors to get the flash rate back down. (Can I do this From the parts I have left over from making the Rear reflector light up - Extra resistors and Diodes and circuit board). 3. Change to a electronic flasher, but this will lose the automatic turn signal canceling unless you also play some other electrical games.
  14. I won't go into the plug type for I've not had my VR long enough to experiment. I've heard that the standard NGK or NIP recommended in the Manuel is a good choice by many. As for the removal and installation, I have a recommendation. I would take a small mirror with an extension and try to see if there might be any harmful debree (metal) next to the spark plug that might get into the cylinder. Recently I was changing to new plugs and I could not get the wrench over the nut part of the plug on one plug for the life of me. Finally I took my mirror extension that came with my magnetic extension to pick up dropped bolts, nuts and washers. Sure enough there was a metal electric clip had fallen into the spark plug hole as I was doing some electrical work. I was glad that I was unable to get the plug out for if I had it could have dropped into the cylinder. Now the challenge was to get it out. I could not get it up past the nut part of the plug. So I though maybe I could vacuum it up, but I needed a smaller flexible hose. I was looking around my garage and I found just what I needed. I for some reason kept my lung expander gadget used to expand my lungs after my open heart surgery. I used duct tape to connect the two hoses together. I then stuck the small hose over the plug. A Perfect tight fit. The vacuumed acted like a wind tunnel, big hose to smaller hose and it imbedded the metal fitting in-between the nut part of the plug to the wall. I was able to get the metal piece with a long needle nose plyer. I now use my mirror each time I remove the plug for it only takes about 1 minute per plug. Also, I learned this from Condor. Get from the auto store a small hose about 9 inches long that will fit over the top threaded part of the plug. It makes turning the plug so much easier both on and off.
  15. Darn it seems that everything I buy, I buy too early.
  16. I would like to convert Regular Bulbs to LEDs. For starters 1) Brake Turn Signals Can I use white LEDs or do I need to get colored LEDs? 2) I have a trailer in which I purchased a set of new LED lights. (Brake, Turn Signals, Running). Can I hook them up straight or are there considerations? 3) Dash Lights Are they all the same size? Same ? regarding color. White or respective color. Will some be too bright? 4) Did I miss any lights 5) Is there a better source regarding quality and price than the local auto store? 6) Are there any draw backs to this?
  17. Try a different destination like Hawaii or the Caribbean and she probably would go.
  18. Can someone direct me to the location of the Wiring Schmetic for the 91 VR.
  19. As I was installing 4 Stebel Electric horns this morning I looked at the radiator cap and was dishearted to see what I thought was the label on the radiator cap pealing off. As I tried to push it back on, only to discover that the pealing was the thin clear protective label cover.
  20. Thanks all. Just having 2 Stebel Electric horns are really good, but to have 4 is awsome.
  21. Yes each of the outlet has a reset button and I pressed each one. Only I'm not feeling any type of a reset click when I push it.
  22. This morning my power went out. Switched box over to the backup system diconecting from city provided power so not to conflict when city power comes back on. The generator engine started up just fine. Fliped the breaker switch one at a time. Then checked for power. No electricity. Hmmmm. double checked all my connections still no power. Brought a electric drill and pluged into one of the 110 outlets on he generator and no electricity. I do not know anything about generators. Is a Generic 5000 watt. Bought it new 15 years ago, always stored in a heated garage. Probably used is once or twice a year for maybe 10 hours each year. Anyone have any suggestions?
  23. Oh wow, I did not know that. Thanks a bunch.
  24. The stock horn works good. Installed a set of Stebel Electric horns on the existing wires and they work good. I installed a relay 30 to Horn 87 to Battery 85 to Ground 86 to Horn Button. When I turn the key on the horn goes off without me pressing the horn button. This is how I determined which of the origional black horn button I would hook to the horn button. I turned the key on and used a troubleshooting light and found the wire that lights up. I took that wire and hooked it to 86. After thinking about the 86 wire I asked why the horn wire is hot without pressing the horn button. I doubled check both sets of horn wire and sure enough when the key is on one wire from each set is hot. This would then activate the relay when the key is on Shouldn't that wire only be hot when the horn button is pressed? What do I look at?
