I'm installing a set of white, 5 inch long LEDs on the rear, for the purpose of getting dangerously approaching vehicles attention to a momentary switch? I'm not sure how legal this is but I would like the two lights to alternate back and forth at a much faster rate than a normal turn signal. Does anyone know of such a gadget?

I found a picture on an older thread. I'm in for 2.

What do they look like (picture)?

Really enjoyed your trip pictures. Made me feel like I was along for the ride. I recognized the Air Force Academy Chapel in Colorado Springs. I spent a many Sundays there. Just a trivia. The 17 steeples represent the 12 Disciples and the 5 Air Force Chiefs of Staff. -
Accessories should be good for a 91.

Def Def Definately do a hot air balloon ride. I surprised my wife with one on our 15th anniversary. Hang gliding is also a fun experiences and I think it has the best safety flying records. I did not ask her if she would like to do the Hot Air Ballooning, had I did she would have talked herself out of it. Just drove her to a meeting point resturant and while having breakfast some Hot Air Ballooning equipment arrived on some trailers. She said something like Oh Hot Air Ballooning sounds like fun. I said oh really. I too would like to take time off and ride thru all the States including the Canadian Provinces. I would like to do one of those free fall sky diving. Almost did that in my early Air Force years. I would like a ride with the Air Force Thunderbirds or Blue Angles. I'd settle for a ride in a P51 Mustang or a P38 Lighting. The closest I got was in a Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star converted to a trainer. The Shooting Star was a US Air Force jet fighter during the Korean War.

You were on the right track. Go back where you found this 1st Generation Ventures 83-85 Service Manual First Gen Manual And click on First Gen Manual. It will then list the other years from 86 to 93. -

Do you mean in the trunk or on the outside of the trunk. There are only reflectors on the outside of the trunk. -

Took your suggestion. Disconnected the cable from the generator to the outlet box. I opened the outlet box and cleaned all the connections, even tho they all looked clean. My thoughts would be that being all 4 outlets did not produce power that if any corrision were to be found would be in the main cable. I sprayed some electric contact cleaner and worked the connection off and on a few times of the main cable. Again the connection looked clean. I also removed the plate from the accessible end of the Generator and the inside looked really clean. I did not mess with anything inside for wasn't sure if there might be some stored electricity. Well put if all back together and fired her up and pluged an applicance into one of the 110volt outlet and turn the switch on. Wala, we have power. Went to shut the engine off and the switch broke off. If it isn't one thing its another. Only I can just order another switch. Couldn't choke kill the engine so I had to pull the plug cap off. Thanks Flyinfool. I'll be getting to cutting the LED strips soon. Just too many projects going on. Currently working on a new rear light bar for my motion directional LED turn signals and my Knight Rider sequential LED stop lamp.

Well I think he got that from me from about 40 years ago, that's probably before he was even born. As soon as I get a deck of cards and get my wife to make a movie of mine I'll post my version of it. I won't have all the fanfare but It's will come a very close 2nd to his.

Blue Tooth to MKII Communication System ?
GolfVenture replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
I ride with a blue tooth on my helmet. Can one hook up an external hand mic to the CB? I really do not need two mics to be twisting all around my chin area.- 5 replies

My VR is a 91 and the helmet locks are in front of the side bags on the crash bars.

Hey I can use regular zip ties, by drilling extra holes in the rear of the towel rack and the zip ties won't even show. Sure helps talking things out with the group.
-
I looked at your pictures, and have a couple of questions. Did you drill through the bottom of your trunk so the U bolts would go over the trunk rack. I could not really see it clearly. Did you chrome the angle iron. Or did you paint it to protect it from rusting ? I was thinking of sliding an L shape aluminum inbetween the rack and the bottom of the trunk and cover the aluminum with a sheet of chrome adheisive tape. But then I would fell that I would need to put spacers in the front inbetween the rack and the bottom of the trunk so to not put uneven pressure on the plastic trunk. Then I was wondering if there might be other adjustments I would need to make for the back rest. I like the idea of using u-bolts, but did not want to drill into the bottom of the trunk. I guess I could use chome plated zip ties and tie the SS towel bracket to the rear of the trunk rack. I think that Custom Dynamics has chrome plated zip ties. I kind of like the idea of using chrome plated zip ties. It is simple and fast and I don't have to drill into the chrome rack. This is good, for new ideas are coming to me. Looking forward to others chiming in. Thanks.

I've been thinking of how to use the approx 1 inch square SS bathroom towel rack tube for my rear light bar. I have 3 Custom Dynamic LED lights. 2 amber directioinal and 1 sequental (Back and forth) stop. Each are about 3/4 inch in with and 4 to 5 inches in length. I'd like input into drilling into the chrome trunk rack. That is from the rear of the VR looking at the back end of the chrome rack, just underneath the bottom of the trunk. I'm mainly concerned with the possibility of the chrome pealing off. I could drill three holes, one near each end and one in the middle of the towel rack and corresponding holes into the chrome trunk rack. The hole in the towel rack would need to be just large enough to put a SS screw and a screwdriver into it. With the SS towel rack mounted, I would then from the bottom of the towel rack and in the center drill another hole to accommodate 6 wires for the LED lights to be routed out of the towel rack and connected to the VR under the seat. The LED wires are about the size of telephone wires. I could feed the wires for each light in through the 3 outside holes and the three LED lights have double sided 3M tape. Each light would then mount centered covering the holes. I could not find any square plastic plugs to put into the ends, but did find some round ones. I'm pretty sure I can make it fit. The circular cap covers the end except the oh so small part of the 4 square corners, of which I have some black silicone glue. Maybe I could put some sort of metal bonding waterproof glue to keep moisture from getting under the chrome where the hole is drilled. Have any suggestions? Also I'm wondering about the drilling process into the chrome trunk rack. That is how to prevent pealing during the drilling process. I know that the location is ok, further back would be a little better, however the rear part of the trunk rack does jet out from the rear trunk bolt location and the 1 inch towel rack does bring it out that much farther. Then the observers behind me are a good distance away so it would be pretty much eye level. The turn signals providing directional signals are very eye catching and the stop lamp will be like the Sequential light like in the show Knight Rider. The center red light will sequential back and forth when the brakes are applied. All the light movements are very eye catchy and hard to ignore. The movements of the lights seems to draw the eye balls.

I've installed new plugs, synced the carbs. Then on a test drive, the MKII sounded much better, better all around performance also. Then at one back road stop light, when I got the green light I throttled the VR when I shifted from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd, of which I can't recall it backed fired in the shifting process, when I left off the gas. Does the Back Fire indicate I need to make an adjustment?

Does someone have some procedure instructions on how to install Roto Covers on a MKII before I just go taking to many things off?

I've gotten to the point of reading the carbtune for the 1st time on my 91 VR. My instructions says to bring carb 1 & 2 to an even level then the same 3 & 4, then sync up 1&2 with 3&4. Well I got 1&2 evened out at around 27/33 and 3&4 to around 40. That could be the reason why my mileage was so bad. The carbs probably nevers been synced sinced left the dealers lot it only has 6700 miles on it. So I now have 1&2 pretty even with 3&4. Is the reading supposed to be pretty steady or is it supposed to bounce with about 6 units of variance? So right now all 4 are bouncing between 28 low and 34 high.
