Could you be more specific on the Vacume Pump or is there only one size that is available. I've never used a vacume pump what is the procedure in using it. Any precausion I should take?

I need to replace my clutch and brake fluid in my 91 VR. It has 7000 origional miles and I'm pretty sure it could be the origional fluid. Any special process I should consider. Open to fluid type recommendations and why.

So when one buys heated grips it does not come with wiring accessory hook ups. Are there some good manufactures that include the wiring hook ups?
-
What heated grips would you recommend for a 91 VR MKII. What are the features one should look for in heated grips.

Thank You. The cleaning it is referring to is the electronic zapper. The filter I was inquiring about was the paper cartridge, of which it says to discard and replace. I was hoping that someone in the group may have figured out a cleaver way to clean the cartridge filter. Thanks for trying.

Anyone has the Carrier Infinity Electronic Air Filtering system installed. I'm needing to install a new Air Filter. It is the GAPCCCAR2025 that actually filters out bacteria. It is supposed to be the similar filtering technology used in hospitals. My question is that a new one cost around $90.00 and was wondering if someone has figured out a way to clean these filters to get longer life out of them. I'm guessing not but thought I would would just ask.

I picked this up in work White Elephant Gift party. I saw a couple of guys look at it closely and so when it came by me as it was being passed, I recognized it as an antique calculator. I stayed low until near the end and so when I got the chance I selected it.

Last would be fine for me as long as I finished in one piece.

Col Ralph Parr is a Double Fighter Ace; Fought in WWII, Korea & Vietnam. Before starting you should get your favorite beverage for this is quite a long read but it Exemplify the American Fighting Spirit. He shares one experience where he single handed took on 16 Mig-15s. http://www.goldengatewing.org/proptalk/speaker.cfm?ID=26 I'd recommend purchasing the CD. It is great to invite friends over to share with friends on Veterans Day.

7000, Yep, I've been looking for a parts MKII for my 89 for a year since I've been a VR owner. Then about 2 months ago there was this 91 VR with 6650 miles on it. I mention it to my wife that I would like to go look at it. On the way she said if I wanted it to get it. It floored me. I saw it, and the rest was history. On my profile page there are some pictures of it. Then I've also created a thread "MyNew2MeVenture". It is a beauty. The engine itself looks brand new. Also as I was polishing it up, the radiator cap still had the thin clear label protector on it. All the warning labels were still on the VR. I also unscrewed many parts to get the plastic film protector off. The manuel looks like it has never been opened. In my looking I've actually come across 3 other older VRs with less miles. There is this 83 with 5000 miles (220 miles per year). One owner is actually a member here. I can assure that it will get more than 350 miles per year but not really alot, probably about 2000 miles per year, unless I can Venture off for about a week. Yep they are out there, one just has too look every day. Happy Veterans day. I hope to have the opportunity to pick up the dinner tab of a GI and his family in uniform anonymously. It was some years ago that a radio anouncer suggested this and it is something that my wife and I do once a month. America and the people has been so wonderful to me and it is all because of this great country's forefathers and the American Fighting GI.

Just rolled over 7000 miles on my 91 VR on this short trip.

I went for my Veteran's Day ride looking for those flying the American Flag. Sad to say that in 50 miles I could not find a single American Flag on a car. I drop down into Orting for there is The Washington's Soldiers Home there. It was pretty early and the workers were just starting to put out the American Flag for this is their big day. Good to see that Liberals hasn't invaded the Soldiers Home, for the American Flag still fly’s proudly there. I did find 2 homes proudly flying Old Glory. Our home fly’s the American Flag everyday for everyday I'm thankful for all Veterans, especially personal for me is to remember the Korean War Veterans for they died and fought so I can live in America and be free. See I was born in 1952 right in the middle of the Korean War. I'm a Korean War Orphan, adopted into an American family. I've grafted into the American Society. I speak English, study American history, totally lost my 7 years old Korean language and culture. Personally I do not miss it. Today except for my physicial appearance, I am an American 100 percent. My son and daughter both know that had it not been for the American Fighting GIs that each of them would not be here for my life would have been much different had it not been for the Americans. Well I don't have any heated riding suit so my ride was pretty cold. All my fingers and hands were extremely cold and numb. It made me think of the freezing weather that the GIs had to fight in, I stop complaining. Its great to be part of Venture Riders and the Partiot Guard a great pool of Patriotism is found here. Patriotism seems to be harder and harder to find in the general public. But in my family Patriotism is taught early. The last picture is my grand daughter last year at the age of 3.

Wow. $60 is a great price including shipping and core charge. Too bad I don't need a battery. It would just sit on the shelf for a few years.

It all started last year when I bought my New2Me89VR. I join this group then understood how important it is to be heard and seen. So I put 4 Stebel Electric horns on. Then Custom Dynamics Directional turn signals, Driving lights, brighter head lights, working on new LED dash lights, adding Stop/Turn/Running LEDs to the Trunk Reflectors. Then recently I bought a New2Me91VR and am in the process of moving all my newly installed lights onto the 91VR. Each time I read more threads I get more ideas. Now I'm adding White LED get attention lights on the rear of the 91VR. Then both my house and car lights started to go bad. Could it be that I joined this group. I've spent more time with maintenance and upgrading my VR than I've ridden it. I've got parts for new projects just waiting to be installed. I'm hoping to put more time in the saddle next year. This is ridiculas. But it is alot of fun and keeps me out of trouble.

My low beam on the driver side went out, but still have high beam. Replaced the headlamp and all is fine for 24 hours then the same low beam goes out. Being that that the Passenger side both hi and low works I tested both the old and the new lamp in the Passenger side and yep both the low beams are out on the old and recently new one. I then put the good one from the passenger side and put it into the Driver side and the Driver side now has both low and high beam. I can see why the low beam on the old headlamp go out after nearly 17 years but why would the brand new headlamp low bean go out within 24 hours. If there is a short wouldn't the fuse blow instead of the headlamp low beam? I now that one possibility would be that the low beam on the new one might be defective. I sure would like to know other possible reasons. Thanks Brian.

I did not know that. The things one learns from this group is amazing.

Got it fixed. Took an auto inline fuse and solider it into the circuit board. Put a 3 amp glass fuse in it. Took apart the touch switch and it looked good. Put it all together and bingo it works. The fix is not very pretty but it works and beside it all hids in the upper cabinett above the microwave. Attached is picture.

I can just imagine the electrical issues he will run into.

This is very interesting topic. I'm courious to find but I would wait till my new tires with less than 7000 miles needs replacing. But at the rate I put on miles and my age, I'll probably never find out. Well maybe not never, for I could go the trike conversion when my 91 VR gets to heavy for my aging muscles. But then I would never know the true experience. Wouldn't mind tring someones 89 or 91 MKII with C/T on some day.

Yes I found a couple sources out of country. Thank You

Looking for one of these, the box, bracket and the bolt. I'd like to make a sw box out of it. If you have one let me know what you would want for it.

One could just mount one. It should draw some attention. Or may be carry a gallon of paint that looks like it could easly fall off. Keep a lot of cagers off your rear.
