clutch reservoir screws stuck
GolfVenture replied to jdsauter's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
For Really small items, check the spark plug hole before removing the plugs. This last summer I was replacing all 4 plugs and 1 plug I could not get the plug socket firmly over the plug. After several tries I finally took a mirror extension and was some how able to position it so I could see down the plug hole. There was a small electricial connection that I dropped during some electricial project, at the very bottom of the hole. It took some creative doing but I got it out. Glad I was unable to remove that plug for if I was able to, that connector could have fallen into the cylinder. I'm going to make a habit of checking before removing any plugs now.- 39 replies

Security system, worth it or not?
GolfVenture replied to cabreco's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My 89 VR came with one. I'm sure it was probably installed when the VR was new for it was a Dr that was the origional owner. So it was an old one. But here were the features it has. It automatically came on after a few seconds when the ignition was in the off position. Ignition in the on position it automatically went off. It had a little red light that blinked when it was on. It had its own seperate horn that pulses on and off. The bike did need to be shaken pretty hard to set it off, so it tolerated slight bumps. I disconnected it taping each wire as to where it goes. I was going to install it on my 91 VR. Only I was thinking of hooking it to my 4 Stebel horn systems relay. These days with bikes being stolen then stripped for parts it could be a peace of mind for 4 men could pick up a bike and throw it in a trailer. -
I have a coupling that swivels. Wish they made it so that it only swivels when a excessive amount of pressure goes in one direction. Like when a bike is dropped rather than constantly swiveling back and forth.

hmmmm. Any opinions on the Tradesman 12" 12 Speed Drill Press Model DP12LW. There is a new one on craigslist. I'm pretty sure that the HF one would work for me for I don't ever recall in my life needing to drill on a slant nor a deep hole. In all my 60 years all my drilling has been with a hand held drill.

Yes a very well matched and intertaining bowl game. Knew AF would go for the extra 2 points for the win or loss. Having been here and following their games for 38 years, It seems to be something about having the confidence going into a mission.

Tied at 35 each with 11 minutes left. Go Air Force.

Thank you all. I'll be going to HF after the new year. It really is helpful to ask members of their opinion before making a purchase.

Found this bouncin' around at work looking for some clean humor, hard to find these days, enjoy :] Susie's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months. Things looked grim, but she was by his bedside every single day. One day as he slipped back into consciousness, he motioned for her to come close to him. She pulled the chair close to the bed and leaned her ear close to be able to hear him. "You know" he whispered, his eyes filling with tears, "you have been with me through all the bad times. When I got fired, you stuck right beside me. When my business went under, there you were. When we lost the house, you were there. When I got shot, you stuck with me. When my health started failing, you were still by my side. "And you know what?" "What, dear?" she asked gently, smiling to herself. "I think you're bad luck."

If more would take the annuel payout then you can't spend it in all one place. This has motivated me to buy a couple of tickets TONIGHT !!! Its my turn.

The newer the bike, the more worthy to be sold, while the older the vehicle the more worthy to be admired and ridden.

Check this one out on ebay. It is for an 88 Venture, maybe it might fit and 83. http://www.ebay.com/itm/88-Yamaha-Venture-Royale-XVZ1300-DRIVER-BACKREST-/130601460032?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item1e68742140

This summer on my 89 VR, my VR acted like I lost a cylinder. With this groups suggestion I bought an infer-red temperture unit and discovered that 2 of my cylinders were not warming up properly. The problem was that the actual wire was bad where the cap screws into. I ended up snitting off the bad end and I got 4 cylinders firing 100% again. You might want to check both ends of the wire. Then do a spark check again.

I have a 94 Saturn SC2 with 175K miles. I'm the second owner since 50K miles. The Saturn has been receiving routine maintenance. In the last week I would feel an occasional electricial miss. Well I got new plugs and wire. It does not have a distributor cap nor a rotor. As I was installing the new plugs and wire this is what I uncovered. I replaced the plug about 30K miles ago but the wires I do not believe ever been replaced. 4 of the 2 wire where it connects to the coil/or whatever end, the wire cap was all croded really bad. The other 2 of the 4 were quite shiny. On the Spark Plug end 3 of the 4 plugs seemed fairly white rather than light tan. Maybe that is normal these days for electronic ignition. The 1 plug was all covered in oil. When I cleaned the oil off the plug looked quite clean where I was expecting it to be black with a lot of crude. Questions 1) What would cause 2 of the 4 wires to be extrememly croded at the coil end ( full of white residue). 2) What would cause the 1 spark plug to be soaked in what looks like fresh oil.

Where was he when he jumped? He was at the place he was, just before he jumped.

Wowwwww. Just beautiful. I need to plan another trip there on my NewToMe91Venture. Maybe in 2013. I have to get my wife mentally ready. We used to ride early in our life together everywhere. 30 some years later she has become more cauious. Maybe I can send her on a trip to see our grand-daughter while I take a week up north. Thank You for the pictures. Brian T.

No No No, I wouldn't put a spoof picture request. I had a facebook friend wanting to know where this was at. I've been to Baniff twice and I think it is near there like in kevin-vic-b.c. picture. I love traveling in Canada, just about anywhere you go the ride is beautiful, at least where I've been.

Thanks I thought it might be near Baniff.

B-12 vs Seafoam - Is there a difference?
GolfVenture replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
Yes, Berrymans stuff. I just heard about them. Thanks for the info. I need to know that. -
Is one better than the other and if so by how much. Seafoam can cost about 3 times B-12. Is Seafoam 3 times better?
-
Think I'll start a new thread B-12 vs Seafoam - Is there a difference?

OB-1 how long have you been using B-12. The price is right. Sure would like to know how others like it and how it performs to Seafoam.
