Thank you for all the replies. Any thoughts to this hog-pog-plan plan. 1) Take it appart and use ISP 16 for I have some from previous recommendations from (Condor). This absorbing chemicial finds its way into the tinyest hairline cracks and will fuse the parting plastic together. 2) Then drill a slightly larger hole in the existing plastic screw hole so the screw does not put any pressure on seperating the crack. 3) Draw it together as tight as I can make it. It should come together some so my fingernail easly runs over the crack. And the crack would be hardly noticable. I could maybe use one of those nylon strap with a tighting ratch-it and use a towel where the hardware would touch the painted area to draw it tight. 4) Re-enforce the crack by taking a small round file and filing from the inside the length of the crack, creating a groove so to ruffen the crack area. Then use a black zip tie and recommended blow torch melt the zip tie, giving it added strength along with the ISP 16 chemical weld. ??? Might the heat do something to the paint. Can I conclude that the screw pressure caused the crack? And by drilling a bigger hole eliminate the screw hole pressure. Or if something else casued the crack what might it be and how would I try to eliminate the pressure that caused the crack.

I just found this trunk crack on my 91 VR. It is hard to see. It looks like a stress crack from age and hardening of the plastic, for there is nothing around it that indicates it got hit. And I have not loaded it much at all. I may have purchased it that way, only at that time I may have missed it. The crack does definately stop my fingernail from going over the crack. I dont know what those white spots are for they are not on the turnk. The paint on the trunk looks like the day it came off the show room floor The crack is also felt on the inside. Also the crack starts right dead center on one of the screws that hold the trim on. My options are 1) Just ignore it and hope the crack does not travel father 2) Take it to a body shop for an estimate 3) Buy a used trunk and have it professionally painted to match. 4) Your suggestions

I put 2 sets of these Stebel Electric horns on my MKII. They are on ebay ( Stebel TM80 Magnum Pair - One High Tone and One Low Tone) for about $19.00 a pair. They have cosmetic minor surface cracks but does not affect the horns functions. Or you can pay about $40 a pair for new ones without the surface cracks. These new without the surface cracks seen quite abit for them I thought that I saw them about a year ago for about $30.00. I've attached some pictures. The front two goes on the old mounts. The rear set are tucked in behind the passenger floorboards. Just 2 sounds great but 4 sounds superb. So in this way all 4 sides are covered with a set of high and low horns (Front, Rear, Left & Right).

For 37 years I always thought that only those on activate duty or retired military qualified for military discount at various retail business. Two weeks ago I learn that some retailers also give similar discounts to anyone who has ever served in the military. Home depot gives a 10% discount to all those who are serving or has ever served all year round. For those who do not have a military ID card they require you to should your dd214 discharge papers or your Veterans Administration ID card. Well I did not have neither but I did find my Veterans Admin Certificate of Eligibility for my VA loan when I purchased my 1st house. I did need to get the managers approval for the discount. I purchased $2000.00 worth of new carpet and pad for my basement project. Now, you can not combine other discount programs with your military discount. You can only choose one. If you also need a copy of your dd214 go to this link. It if free but it could take up to 6 months. http://dd214.us/ If you need it faster there are other sites that can do that for you for a fee. Just search for "Copy of dd214". I am in the process of researching how to obtain a VA ID card so that I do not have to continue to carry my Veterans Admin Certificate of Eligibility paper. If anyone knows the process in how to obtain the VA ID cards please respond to this thread. So today when I went to OReilys to buy some seafoam at buy 2 and get the 3rd free, I asked if O'Reilys gives a military discount and they said yes. But theirs is a bit more complex. First no discount on sales items. 2nd some items do not qualify. So you will need to ask. They did say that most batteries gets a 15% discount. I'm going to be asking every retailer for this military discount. Also being that I'll be turning 60 soon, hopefully I'll be able to get some kind of a discount everywhere I go. Hope this helps some of you.

I've never had AAA, but I too am getting older so I just checked AAA. AAA Premier RV Membership is $113 a year AAA Plus RV Membership is $83 a year Both covering Motorcycles and Trailers. Think I'll join the AAA plus and then drop the towing on my auto policy.

Wider & Taller Clearview Shield Impact on MPG ?
GolfVenture replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
Someone in this group somewhere I recall said it was hugh. So I was just courious if others may have experienced a significant drop in mpg. -
Was wondering if anyone has experienced a drop in MPG after installing the widest and tallest Clearview shield on long distance, Interstate riding? If so can you provide some stats. Especially interested in stats for MKII.

So I've ruled out a 20 kw generator for I can do what I want with a 10 kw portable generator. I found a TriPower generator that has 3 independent fuel system (gas/propane/natural gas). I just spoke to a sales rep and he described the switching process from one fuel system to the other. One does not need to purchase any additonal generator accessory to do this. I currently have a 500 gal propane tank to just heat my home including hot water tank. It would be nice to have both source of fuel (Gas & Propane) I hope to purchase one before this coming fall. http://www.unitedgenerator.com/proddetail.php?prod=HPS12000HE So my general plan is to move all the 30/40/50 breakers from my main panel to a sub panel and feed the sub panel with say a 125 amp breaker from the main panel with a transfer box. Then move all my 15/20 amp breakers to a sub panel and feed it with a 100 amp breaker from the main panel with a transfer box. With power management I would think that I could power all my power needs during an emergency. Opinions welcome.

20+ KW Home Generator - Anyone Installed One?
GolfVenture replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
Thank you for all the constructive replys. I currently have a 4500 watt generator and it in the past has supplied electric for 2 propane furnaces, most all my plugins and light switches and my washing machine. I recently added a new heat pump & an electronic filter and so with that I decided to put in a new propane furnace. Well I found out that my new furnace is intregrated with the heat pump and so the furnace is now supplied by the new 50 amp breaker for the heat pump on the main panel along with the heat pump. About 15 years ago I had installed a sub panel and moved most of the 110/120 breakers into this subpanel including my furnace which would have the ability to be powered by the generator in emergency management mode. Well with this latest Washington winter storm I had no furnace, which was a surprise to me because my furnace is now powered by the main panel. So I was courious about one of these full home generators. After reading all the response, I'm realizing that a 20 kw is an over kill and some other upgrades one that I would need to consider and one is to provide a larger supply pipe and regulator from the propane tank, something that I really do not want to do plus the cost of the total project. I think all I need to do is to maybe upgrade to about a 10 kw generator. I found one that has a 60 amp plug, a 30 amp plug and four 20 amp plugs. In an emergency, and using power management I can supply all the house eletricity needs, just not all at the same time. I can install a 2nd sub panel and move the 50/40/30 amp breakers to it and suppply it with the 60 amp plug and feed the 15/20 amp sub panel with the 30 amp plug. Get 2 transfer switches appropiately sized for each subpanel use. I found a TriPower Generator 10 kw where it has 3 fuel source, gas/propane/natural gas. Each having seperate fuel system and switching from one to another is a snap so they say. I will start another thread inquiring if any one has one of these TriPower generators. Thank you all again. Always can expect straight foward opinions and experiences. -
I've been thinking about installing a large Home backup Generators one of these years. Probably 20 KW or larger. Anyone have one or have installed one. Like to get myself educated on the pros and cons, also open to suggestions if there might be a better idea. I currently have two propane furnaces (1 for main floor and one for basement apt -rental) and a propane hot water tank all supplied by a 500 gal propane tank. When I upgrade appliances I would consider going to propane ranges and dryers. Need enough power for the following: Main floor home Basement Apt (Complete Set of appliance) Hot Tub Heat Pump(Heat and Air Conditioner) Detached garage/shop (No Welder just normal electricity needs)

Well this is the 3rd day I've worked from home, and tonight is the 1st day of work I've had to run my generator to provide power for work. I normally get by really great in times like these, except this time no heat. Beside no heat I've gas hot water tank for hot showers, I've have a sub panel system that provides most all swithes and plug in. Watching Direct TV, Oh I have no oven for it takes 40/50 amps and the generator only provides 30 amps. I can run my dishwasher, microwave, Washing Machine, Refrigerator. I've lost a lot more trees than ever before for all the snow and ice rain.

My Furnace man called and we did some troubleshooting. The thermostat lights up because of the 3 AAA batteries. The lighting of the thermostat was miss leading. We made sure that all the colored wires when into the correct slot. Thermostat looks good. Went to the furnace, there are a couple of lights that should be on and they are not. That means that no power to the furnace. Maybe a circuit breaker is flaker. After the power returns I'll need to identify the breaker and replace it. Then do my generating testing.

I'm in the Seattle/Tacoma area, and we are receiving a record amount of snow and Ice rain. So this morning I lost power. No Problem for I've wired my home to accomodiate a generator about 15 years ago. I have everything except for Range and Dryer for the generator puts out 30 amps. Now last year I had a new gas furnace/heat pump/electronic filter. I was told when the power goes out and being that I have a generator for power, all I have to do is set the furnace to EM Heat. This setting is to bypass the heat pump and only allow the heat to be operated by gas. I get power to the thermostat but the furnace does not kick in. Prior to the new furnace the old furnace worked on the generator just fine and the new furnace electricial system uses the same power source as the old furnace system. If any one has any suggestion please let me know.

Who just paid $87.75 for the chrome vents on Ebay?
GolfVenture replied to rstacy's topic in Watering Hole
I won this ebay for 20.50. I've never seen one before, except just looking for chrome for my VR. I think it I got it pretty cheap. Any idea what its value might be, not that I'm selling it. Its just fun to know how good of a deal I got it for. -
I had something very similar happen. My furnace made a high squealing nose but not vibrating or shaking. I wanted to dive into it but being it was a gas furnace I was hesitant so I called a furnace guy and watched him uninstall it. Afterwards I thought, criminney-sakes I could have done that. It was obviously the blower motor and several of the fins broke off. He checked to see if just the broken part could be ordered. Nope, he ordered the new part and I went and picked it up and installed it myself. It cost me about $225 of which about $75 was for the house call and his labor. Good luck.
