  1. Does anyone know of a touch up paint or spray that matches the gold color in the 1 inch square emblem that is on many accessories items like on the chrome calipar covers or on the rear trunk rack. It will also have 1200 or 1300 on it also.
  2. Sounds like who every installed the covers followed the instructions and installed the new spacer that came with the covers.
  3. The spacer on the left side is the Speedometer unit and it can not be messed with. Well one member shared when he bought a new 1st Gen and in so doing had the dealer put on some accessories. He kept ruining the rotors. After a few times he investigated and discovered that the dealer did not install the spacer that came with the covers. So most of the suggestions was to take 2 times the width of a rotor from the right spacer. I believe I'm in uncharted waters and it made sence to shorten the spacer bt 2 times the width. Well now the right Roto cover drags on the several bolts that holds the actual rotor to the wheel. So I will soon get 3 spacers milled. Sizes are 1/32, 1/24, 1/16. One of them should work. How many miles have you put on your Venture and how are your brake pads and rotors wearing. You might not know it but maybe your pad and Rotos maybe wearing faster then normal if you have the OEM spacer.
  4. Bananas ??? Do you carry some ice cream or peanut butter also
  5. So I got the right front axle spacer reduced by 2 times the thickness of the roto cover. Got the wheel and the roto cover on. The Speedometer is on correctly with the two prongs correctly placed. The u shape on the outside of the speedometer correctly placed into the receiving part on the front fork. Torqued to 75 ft pounds. The brake calipar were left off for now. The front wheel turns with some hand and arm pressure but does not spin freely. As I loosen the axle bolt, the wheel spins freely. My question is are front wheel bearing pressed in or are they like bicycle bearings where one can turn the bearing tighter or looser. I'm thinking that I may have taken just a little too much on the spacer causing maybe the bearings to bind a bit. So am having 3 spacers made if I can ( 1/32, 1/16 & 1/8). Then experiment. Am I on the right track or is there something else that I'm missing.
  6. There is a 1 inch rubber flap on the left side of the engine. It is where one bleeds the clutch. But I'm not sure how close it is to the toe shifter. I thought it was farther back from the toe shifter unless you have heal toe shifter. Then it could be near the shifter. The rubber flap lies flat and not verticle. Lift it up and if you see what looks like a bleed valve fitting then it is probably as I described. Pictures are a much other wise we are shooting in the dark.
  7. Yep, its on my list for MKII. 41R-71 Relay (1st-Gen -Controls turn signal and I don’t think the engine will start when it goes out) If you watch ebay religiously you sometimes can find them for about $25.00 including shipping. Otherwise there out there for alot more.
  8. "Front wheel (rims only) + front right fork = 4 hours" After you get all done is there some product one can use to like spray on and hose off on a regular basis to keep it nice? Maybe one could use a small brush prior to hosing off.
  9. Well I've only owned my VR for 1 1/2 years and before then it has been 27 years with out a bike and so guess I'm still back in the 1980s mentally in relations to m/c. I've not ridden long trips except for that I bought the 89 VR (27500 miles) 800 miles from home and rode it home. Since then I've taken a lot of short rides for a total of maybe 1500 miles. So far I've had 2 carb issues, the 41R71 Relay went out and blew a couple of fuses. Otherwise the 89 VR runs great. I've not resolved the 2nd carb issue yet, but I think and hope it will be a simple troubleshooting fix. I also have a 91 VR with 7700 miles and I've only put 1200 miles on it. All I've done is synced the carbs, changed all the fluids. It seems to run great. Hopefully with more miles my confidence will grow. Now I did meet a local VR owner who bought his 89VR new and now has about 80K + and he said that any thing that could go wrong has gone wrong with his. He has fixed and improved on all the repairs so it pretty much won't go bad in the next 100,000 miles. So I'm kind of crossing my fingers that I won't have the same problems, but if I do I know who get some advise including this group Some thing I carry not only for myself but for others that I might run into that I could be of some assistance. Hopefully I'll lighten my load with more miles.
  10. Just from memory some things I carry. Jumper Cables Extra Fuses Duct Tape Tarp to lay on to work on VR Several latex gloves (Keeps hands from getting greasy) Misc metric nuts and bolts that I've collected Seafoam Flares 1st Aid Kit Extra Headlamp bulb Blue Lock Tight Extra plugs Full set of allen wrenchs 41R-71 Relay (1st-Gen -Controls turn signal and I don’t think the engine will start when it goes out) You might consider Concealed and Carry also. 1 more thing. A small box of tissue paper, just in case.
  11. Ya, thats it. Your only the 2nd bike that I've seen them on. Where did you get them?
  12. Does anyone have on their MKII the Chrome Guards for the Large Side Panels. If you do would you be willing to give me some dimensions. 1) Take one off your VR and trace the guard on a piece of paper. 2) Measure the diameter of the tube 3) Indicate on the drawing where the 4 mounting pieces go and their lengths. See Attachment. It might be a bit small.
  13. I would want to see how our Universe got created. From more of a personal side I would like to see the 1st 7 years of my life for I have no memories of it. I was born in the middle of the Korean War and adopted into an American family at the age of 7.
  14. Maybe the manufacture of the air suspension system should incorporate a memory system, one for low and one for high. Hit the low button leting the air out lowering the bike to the preset pressure and a high button to raise the bike to the preset pressure. One could have someone steady the bike with the rider on with no kick stand and set the air pressure memory. In 1980 I bought a new Goldwing and I soon said it sure would be nice if Honda could put in a reverse. A few years later they did.
  15. You going to share the formula of your home made brew. Maybe a little nitro in it?
  16. Can't recall exactly but maybe $10.00 a day in Washington. I'm probably wrong. But I probably woud have to report to work if jury duty was canceled
  17. Wow, and lots of nice accessories also.
  18. Thanks Mike with your advise I will have mine shorten. Thanks again.
  19. I bought a set of roto covers for my MKII a while back on craigslist, but it did not include the spacer. I thought that my machniest buddy could make a new spacer for me using the origional as a sample. I want to not shorten the OEM spacer incase I want to remover the roto covers for some reason, then I'll need the origional spacer. He can make one out of aluminum. My question is, would making one out of aluminum be ok. I would think it would be but I thougth I better ask. Another question: I need to remove the front axle, so I can get the spacer out. I see the axle nut head. But I also see an allen head screw the goes in at a 90 degree to the axle. Do I need to remove the allen head screw before I attempt to remove the front axle? Or maybe better yet, does anyone have an extra front axle spacer opposite side of the speedometer. for a 91 MKII? It be a lot easier to machine shorten a spare OEM spacer the width of 2 roto plates than to make a new complete spacer.
  20. I've been tutored by the best, thanks to Gary.
  21. Ya, you do need to remove the headlight and it is located up and back, I think just slightly to left of center. There will be a 1/2 wide retangular like rubber band that the relay slides into. The rubberband has a thin sleeve where a flat piece of metal slides into to keep it there on the bank of relays. You can remove just the relay or both the relay and the rubberband. I think it is easier to remove and install both together.
  22. Maybe use it to make a VR go in reverse.
  23. Please see new thread "Venture Patch Order 4/20/12 ". Please do not post any new response to this old thread.
  24. My source is still avalable. For a price guide the 5 3/4 inch will be just less than $10.00 includes (mailing to Canada and US and PayPal Fee). There are very good quality patch, both sew on or iron on. And the cost are very very reasonable. Sizes in inches 3 1/2 5 3/4 7 9 14 For Now all I need are the sizes and quantities. After I get the total order I'll then be able to get the group pricing per each size and will PM each individual for confirmation, Name, address and payment type. Please wait until I PM you before you send the info requested. It makes the house keeping process easier. Attached are some pictures of what I did. Cap 2 carry bags Coat
  25. Sorry .... I'm still working on it...
